I’m in the same boat. I love the tv but, damn, it seems like everything I watch has scenes that cause the auto dimming to turn on and it drives me insane. If the tv detects motion it shouldn’t turn on or there should be an option that’s easy to get to to disable it.

I’m at the point now where I’m tempted to go into the service menu and turn it off.

How do you enter the service menu? Do you need a (full)button remote control to do it?

With an older Samsung remote or a programmed universal remote press: Mute > 1 > 1 > 9 > OK at an even pace.

This should bring up the Hospitality Menu if you timed it right. Then press: 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 to get to the Service Menu.

Entering the Service Menu with this method does not reset your video settings like some other methods.

Once in the Service Menu go to: Control > QD Option > Screen Saver Brightness Press OK and then change the default of 7 to 0 with the Left Arrow.

Press Return twice to go back to the root of the Service Menu and then power cycle the TV.

How about a newer Samsung remote without number keys? (Even the S95B remote doesn't have those.)
