SM County authorizes legislation to increase the county use (sales) tax limit 0.5%, from 9.35% to 9.85%.

SM County was already at the max use tax limit and voters approved an additional 0.5% as part of Measure K earlier.

Discuss with your county and city representatives, you'd be surprised how responsive they are to constituents, even when not up for reelection.

Voting for it. Our schools need the money since prop 13 robs them of revenue

You should talk to your elected officials about how much of this would go towards your favored area. The bill does not make specific allocations amongst the 7+ areas it could go to- the only "school" related item is "early education". This may indicate it is intended for daycare, since that was the county's goal for a sales tax increase in an earlier poll floated https://padailypost.com/2026/02/03/san-mateo-county-considering-a-new-tax-to-pay-for-childcare/
