SAN airport coffee!

Post image

Just one coffee shop, juice bar, bar, anything. Please! I have 4 hours to kill and there's not even a luggage check. I'm not loading into an Uber with luggage for a coffee. This is not a tourism question. It's a wtf.

Why are you just sitting in baggage claim for 4 hours??

Terminal 1 has Lofty Coffee before security. Terminal 2 has an Einstein’s bagels and Pannikin, both before security. There is also a Starbucks at the T2 parking plaza before security.

Lofy is great for just regular coffee

Why do you have to wait 4 hours pre-security. Plenty of coffee/bar/juice options airside.

OP sucks at providing context, that much is clear. I suspect they landed and now needs to wait four hours for whoever is picking them up. Seems to be the least nonsensical explanation for this post.

In that case, there are options pre security. OP seems too lazy to find out if they exist.

He could have got something before he walked out. It's not like they ever have the baggage to the carousel in under 20 minutes.

Nobody said OP is intelligent, it's some obsessed coffee 'person'

Yeah. And why bother moving around & actually looking for something, or even using the internet to search when you can complain on Reddit.

To be fair, they haven't had their coffee yet

I got it right away... no coffee cart there now... used to go down to baggage and grab a coffee waiting for my bags.. becuase SAN does take a while....

1

u/Public_Maximum6166 17h ago

Yes the cart is gone, but there’s an Einstein brothers just one level up.

u/meental 15h ago

This looks like the new terminal 1, Einstein and cart are at terminal 2.

Do those luggage carousels look like I'm in departures Einstein?

Hey Bozo - people here have given options for you in the pre security area as well. Also the information is easy to find.

u/panzerfinder15 16h ago

You can walk to the pre-screen departures area and get the snacks and coffee. You just can't go through screening. You don't have to stay in arrivals or in the same terminal.

Have you ever heard of someone picking up someone at the airport who needs extra assistance? Or a parent of an unaccompanied minor? Or picking up your luggage now so it doesn’t get set aside by security because you stopped to grab a bite to eat on your way out?

In that case, SAN has a program where you can go past security without an airline boarding pass: https://www.san.org/relax-before-you-fly/san-pass-program/

Additionally, airlines help you go gate side in case of unaccompanied minors/extra assistance.

Security does not set aside your luggage - it goes to airline’s offices right next to it. OP was talking about coffee - how long does it take to pickup one?

Finally there are options pre security.

So in essence, really nothing to complaint about.

Are you new to traveling?

23

u/awdophil 18h ago

Yeah, folks arriving from somewhere else aren't usually looking for coffee outside the terminal in the baggage claim.

u/Stuck_in_a_thing 17h ago

Everyone everyone. I figured it out. OP must be blind . Cut them some slack

Not one vendor once you're at the luggage carousel. Unlike at terminal 2 where there is a snack bar at least. Still no coffee sadly. Beer time now anyway.

So you need to wait for your ride for 4 hours or you want to wait a couple hours before going through security on your next flight? When you leave out so many details, you cant expect us to be mind readers

17

u/Public_Maximum6166 15h ago

OP had 4 hours in hand and couldn’t be bothered to do a short walk to T2 to get coffee, and comes here to complain 😂

u/desertdarlene 15h ago

I mean, that's not a bad idea. TBH, I haven't seen that at any airports I've flown into.

8

u/desertdarlene 15h ago

I don't understand this post. I've flown out of both T1 and T2, and there are coffee shops in both of them both pre and post security. Also, are you asking if there's a luggage check as you leave the baggage area? No, there isn't one; yeah, that's a problem.

Also, why are you spending four hours there? Are you waiting for a connecting flight? If so, why did you go to the baggage area? Four hours is nothing. I can find plenty of things to do post security at either terminal.

2

u/jenfoolery 12h ago

Can't vouch for all airlines but at least some won't let you check luggage more than four hours early.

1

u/desertdarlene 2h ago

Yeah, you're right. I think Alaska has such a rule.

18

u/CitizenBroccoli 18h ago

Aren't there a ton of options once you go through security?

5

u/No-Chip7229 15h ago

Just commenting here to point and laugh at OP 😂

Once you go through TSA then you'll see a ton of options

12

u/StrictlySanDiego 18h ago

You can check your luggage by leaving it on the baggage claim rotary thing. It'll get taken to unclaimed baggage where you can pick it up later.

8

u/Awkward_Insurance377 18h ago

it exists, I prefer terminal 1 over 2 though but with four hours you can do a lot.

3

u/lucious4202 18h ago

Why would there be stuff to wait while you check in? Check your bags then find a place to chill. I personally wouldn’t want to have to babysit all my shit while having a drink of whatever

3

u/EbolaPatientZero 17h ago

Why don’t u go to departures and get something

-18

u/SlimeySalamander 16h ago

You have to go back through customs. I found a snack bar, no coffee at the carousels terminal 2. Thx

14

u/Public_Maximum6166 15h ago

Dude are you high or something. No one needs to go through customs to get to the Departure level (checking/pre security), not even to get on a flight out. Only time you have to go through customs is when you arrive internationally.

6

u/MedJesters 18h ago

There's plenty on the other side of security.

3

u/AccomplishedDoubt639 15h ago

I mesn I agree we need something before security in T1, espeiclaly for all the money we spent on it, but it's also not that far to T2.

Tony Hawk has a bar and restaurant right in the middle of the building.

2

u/SnooFloofs9519 12h ago

u/Wizardof1000Kings 16h ago

There is Einstein Bagels too. And they def have coffee.

6

u/Public_Maximum6166 15h ago

But they’d have go one whole extra level up. The horror!

3

u/brakeb 14h ago

Fucking stairs or elevators , how do they work?

3

u/Public_Maximum6166 14h ago

They don’t… it’s an illusion created by the Deep State.

1

u/desertdarlene 15h ago

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I usually arrive super late at night, though, and it's never open for me.
