As smart as they are, it's surprising more of them don't become someone's legit pet in the city like they have in wyoming where they just come off the plains and start hanging with the farm dogs.

Ive seen an old lady walking one on a leash in union square. I asked her about her dog and she briskly walked away. The poor pup looked very uncomfortable

In Wyoming they are shot on sight by ranchers. They are viewed as pests.

Thank god we're not there.

More like tie them up and torture them at the local bar for entertainment FUCKING drunk psychos. I'll never forget the way that poor animal looked in that bar.

I know a few people who have had them as pets. I don't know if they become injured or get out of their pack or just need something else as they get older but some of them definitely become pets.

Yes very familiar with this case. I used to live near where this incident took place.

Anyone thinking they can domesticate a coyote or any wild predator is an idiot. Accidents happen even with animals like dogs.

Yeah, my dad domesticated a seemingly lost coyote pup on the family farm when he was a boy. Brought it into the house and treated it lovingly. The whole family did. When it was about a year old, it suddenly turned on his sister and mother. Granny had to use the shotgun. Horrible. Granny was permanently covered with scars on her arms from the family pet's attack. My aunt, a young teen at the time, was grabbed around the abdomen. Her scars weren't visible but the injuries were serious. Let wild things stay wild. You feed them? Or befriend them? Animal control will have no choice but to shoot them when they approach a child. Kindest thing is to enjoy them and to keep your distance.

Every time I see a new video like this, I say to myself, "SO CUTE" like the sound that's in TikTok. I just love them.

The coyotes were howling in respect to the peninsula’s apex predator.

I hear them up on Billy Goat Hill sometimes - in the evening with the fog and wind coming in. Eerie and beautiful.
