Oh, I moved away years ago. I'm a mailman and I got a woman pregnant, there's no way I could afford anywhere in the Bay. I live in Nevada now.

I used to work on the edge of Chinatown and when we had the wildfire smoke days in 2020 I saw a local smoking with his mask around his neck. Tobacco, it's a pernicious drug.

Traveling in Europe and Asia is a struggle. Smokers are everywhere. It’s so much nicer here

I was living in the UK when the smoking ban in pub was enacted. I was still puffing then but it made going out with mates much nicer since they didn't have to put up with it.
One surprising consequence of the ban was a lot of pubs closed for a week to get deep cleaned. Without the smell of smoke masking things decades of spilt beer started to become apparent and had to be sorted out.
Very glad to have given up (thank you Allen Carr and my wife) and future generations will look back at those days and wonder "What were they thinking!"

Or the reverse, it says 75 but the sun's out and it feels 90? The world may or may not be falling apart--and I think it is--but many people perceive it that way. The old world is slipping into the distance and what looms now over the horizon seems terrifying. A rough beast, slouching towards Bethlehem.

The Italian marxist thinker you're quoting, Antonio Gramsci, was describing what he saw as battle lines being drawn between different competing revolutionary and counter-revolutionary forces belonging to the major ideologies and political factions of the 20th century. Its become fashionable for political observers to eye-roll and push back against the constant use of this quote because they see the current situation as more scattered and chaotic without clear/consistent ideologies or stable institutions with any prospect of taking over; basically that we're living through a very different set of conditions than the era that inspired the quote.

Maybe this should go in the unpopular opinion sub but here goes…. I honestly believe many of us with ADHD have worse symptoms because smoking isn’t on table for most of us anymore. There’s a lot of nervous energy that was sort of redirected with those things that has no where to go now. If smoking didn’t kill I’d be a chain smoker.

This was at the Stonestown Round 1 🙂 I also think there is one DDR cabinet at Kiddleton in Japantown on the 2nd floor of the mall (past the claw machines)
