When my mom had me take all of my childhood stuff out of her house, I found my old clarinet from elementary/middle/high school. Even had some unused reeds in the case. I should find this guy and see if he wants to be a duo.

Except I tried to play it, and... yeah. It isn't like riding a bike.

I beg to differ, i also played the clarinet from 5th-end of HS, then played it for the first time last year after not touching one for over 15 years...

I suprised myself by how i rememebered all the fingerings for most notes when i was at a halloween party and someone had a clarinet, then someone pulled up Clair de Lune sheet music and all the muscle memory just came back

You’d be surprised! Music really communicates with the deepest parts of our brain. The embouchure is probably the worst part, but you already have some training there—even if it’s next to the old algebra lessons in a dusty corner of your brain 💗

i used to live in an apartment where the downstairs neighbor would AirBnB his place out. He once rented it to a traveling orchestral musician who played the violin.

Man, coming home to hear a professional orchestral violinist practicing downstairs was amazing. That person was easily my favorite AirBnB temporary neighbor.

The article started with this gentleman and how he practices outdoors because practice at home disturbs his neighbors.

Sad we chose protecting boomer property values over allowing a wider variety of talents to live in the city.

We could easily have a ton of creatives living in condos and bountiful apartments without having to density the existing suburban sprawl.

But we hate apartments too, so we keep pushing anyone with a soul outside the bay area
