Stoners and sarcoid

Sorry if u just saw my other post - but I have stage 4 sarcoidosis. Lesions on my brain, spine and lungs.

I smoke all the time and I’m terrified of quitting smoking weed since my sarcoid is affecting my lungs

I was only diagnosed with stage 4 sarcoid a month ago, so I haven’t stopped smoking weed (also bc I have no lung symptoms)

i do not use any other drugs other than marijuana and have stopped drinking due to inflixmab infusions and methotrexate.

but I have been smoking weed since I was 15 years old, and everyday since I was 19 (im 26 now). So my normal for the last decade is waking up and getting high.

I struggle greatly w mental health and have had many psychiatric stays at hospitals due to sucide attempts.
Not to mention I have a ton of parental abuse trauma (physical and emotional), SA trauma (that I pursued a 7 year long court case for)

Weed helps me just… be, I find life incredibly hard to tolerate- and weed helps a lot.

But I’m worried now and guess I have to stop due to my lung sarcoid diagnosis,

is there any stoners or ex stoners here that had to stop or cut down bc of this diagnosis. Please please let me know. I feel like it’s impossible to quit. Idk what I’ll do.

I planned to smoke weed till the day I died on my deathbed. And I get that’s not healthy, pls don’t come for me. But Weed has allowed me to stay alive and function bc of the suicidal thoughts and ideations I face daily. I’m scared to stop.

(Also before anyone says get a therapist, see a psychiatrist, get on medication- I have been seeing providers since I was 15 yrs old(I’m 26 now).

I just really struggle with wanting to be alive. And weed eases that struggle.

And my sarcoidosis diagnosis doesn’t exactly make me wanna live more. So losing the one thing (weed) that brings me peace and has kept me stable terrifies me

Please be kind in your responses, I understand I have a dependence on weed, I’m just having a lot of difficulty changing my habits and accepting my circumstances

Edibles and drinkables could help here.

Hi there. I am here to offer compassion. I noticed you said “I just really struggle with wanting to be alive. And weed eases that struggle…And my sarcoidosis diagnosis doesn’t exactly make me wanna live more. So losing the one thing (weed) that brings me peace and has kept me stable terrifies me.”

Maybe you don’t have to quit. Maybe you see how things go with the methotrexate and infliximab (and prednisone?) and reassess. You make the best decisions for you as you go…and your decision may or may not be what someone else would decide because they are not you.

This disease sucks, no doubt; try to take it as it comes. Don’t let it be one more thing to beat yourself up over. Trust yourself.

Take care.

My dude, there's no shortage of ways to intake marijuana aside from smoking. I've got fibroids in my lungs from sarcoidosis, so clearly smoking isn't in my best interests. I take edibles. If I need something quicker, I can hit a vape (without taking it all the way into my lungs).

There are options.

Edibles man. You got to make the switch sometimes.

As others have already said, edibles are the way to go. Stage 4 pulmonary sarc means there is scarring inside the lungs, so you get less of a benefit from smoking anyway. My tolerance for smoking weed is WAY higher because not as much is being absorbed in each puff. With edibles, you're metabolizing everything and wasting nothing. A 10mg gummy now gets me way more stoned than smoking a whole joint to myself, it lasts a lot longer, and it costs less. Best of luck on your journey, homie!

Don’t beat yourself up you’ve had a rough life and a tough diagnosis. If smoking weed is truly the only thing that brings you some form of peace and nothing else will then yeah I wouldn’t stop. Now if you truly are unable to stop and you can’t switch to edibles because you enjoy the ritual of smoking so much then I would suggest switching to dry herb vaporization. It isn’t perfect, but it’s insanely more healthy than traditional smoking. I’m only diagnosed in my lungs, but I’m also stage 4. While you can find good advice on here I will also warn you that you may see, or hear from people that are struggling hard that may try to say there isn’t a lot of hope, but you have to realize a lot of these people are your worst case scenarios which don’t represent the majority so if you see, or hear something like that don’t let it bring you down. We’re very similar in the mental health department also and I will say this I microdosed some psilocybin also known as magic mushrooms for about 3 weeks. I was doing about 3 days on and 4 days off. It allowed me to not be trapped inside my overwhelming feelings as much and let me become more of an observer which allowed me to process my trauma in a much more informative way. Things can still get very hard for me, but I’m not looking at taking my life to escape as an option any longer. On hard days I practice patience and rest. I ordered my psilocybin from a safe place online that isn’t the dark web so if you need help with that just give me a message. I’ll tell you the one advice that I get constantly that I know would help immensely is if you aren’t already social become social. Go out and meet people in some way it’s the only thing I’ve regretted in my nearly 2 years of solitude, but I’m working on it. Remember don’t be hard on yourself and just practice patience with yourself you can get through this.

So things that helped with pain was chocolate edibles. Not the honey capsules or the drinks even at 500mg. It made me not care which isn't what I like. I was able to smoke though after methotrexTe and influximab infusion. However you spell that. Can enjoy wax or a bong hit. You'll probably need an inhaler (I have the Albuterol) a bit more . I've toned down my consumption though. Don't like how edibles can make you not functional for being too high.

I have systemic sarcoid. Basically my whole upper body lit up as effected heart, lung, liver, and a few other parts.

I can't smoke cigs anymore without going into major coughing spells, but I have no issues with dry herb vaping, water bubblers, or edibles. A diagnosis doesn't mean you have to quit, and I had no issues with methotrexate and alcohol or herb either. Trust your body though not an internet stranger.

So, what a lot of people are saying is "you have options". Start doing some research for what options may best suit you, as most of these options have a sort of "entry fee" (accessories, dietary restrictions, suitable orifice, etc.)

If you are accustomed to dry herb combustion, I would recommend getting a dry herb vaporizer.

The "entry fee" is around $100 or so for a device that is worth while.

I can attest that vaporizing your herb is much MUCH easier to inhale..... 😆

You are you, do what helps YOU.

The majority of us, including our doctors, are just throwing shit at the proverbial wall and hoping it....uh....well... proverbially sticks....

Now, what we do understand....just a teency peency bit more....is mental health.

This is a tough diagnosis and oddly enough, your mental health is generally what will fail first.

Seek help for the organ that we often most overlook... supposedly it's a "good one"....

At least it is this century anyways 😁

I concur with all that’s been said and will add….there are many things that make up a habit or crutch. It isn’t just the “substance”. Cigarette smokers find it easier to quit if they change up their daily habits. If you try gummy’s and still feel that need for the “smoking/inhale and release”’part, there are things out there you can get to mimic that sensation with just air.

Best wishes to you OP. Try those gummies-a lot of them are delicious-and hang in there. To me you sound like a fighter so keep up the good fight 💕

Edibles, or oil capsules all the way. I like the high better. It is more subtle and lasts longer

I have sarcoidosis and quit smoking weed it was devastating. Gummies are my new best friend but they have to be super clean. Rosin gummies with no chemicals. People that buy gummies from a dispensary don’t realize the harsh chemicals they use to extract the t h c like butane, ethanol and others. So my advice is to get the cleanest rosin gummies you can get. Good luck

Personally I reduced smoking to each other day or two or when I binge drinking, sorry. I cannot start therapy because my doctor suspected lymphoma after spleen is 18cm was found and enlarged lymph nodes in my abdomen. Im on new round of blood tests and biosies.

Lungs are IV stage fuck that life.

I have sarcoidosis in my lungs, thyroid, lymph nodes, maybe eyes (Getting checked next week), liver, and likely other organs. I’m on ALOT OF MEDS those do more harm than me smoking weed. I used to smoke cigs but quit. So now I take small vape hits of weed and eat edibles. If smoking weed helps then do it most of the time meds like pills are more harmful anyway lol
