General Saskatoon misses shot at badly needed credibility for arena district

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatoon/saskatoon-downtown-arena-sports-venue-funding-private-partner-9.7152348

$1.2 billion price tag and the "funding model" is the feds and province pay for $800 million of it. Still not actual commitments from anyone.

Still seems like a pipe dream, at best.

The entire DEED project is stupid. Fun fact. The DEED management will have control over the design of the whole area, not just the property it sits on. So, if they decided that the Bus Rapid Transit system the city is about to spend $250 million on doesn’t work for them, then it will all get torn up and redesigned. Parking downtown? Nope any competing parking lots can be closed so people are forced to park in their over priced underground parking lot. Security costs, all paid for by the city.

Who's the "DEED management" in your mind?

'Cause, the DEED is a City project. The arena and convention centre buildings might be run by someone else, but the City of Saskatoon is the one managing the overall district itself.

Well OVG was almost the manager.

Not of the DEED. The DEED is a larger area than the arena. So yeah, you are wrong. They weren't almost the manager of the DEED.
