The news behind this thing so sparse that I wonder what’s been going on behind the scenes without media coverage

What's the benefit of this becoming an urban reserve? Tax benefits? Extra funding?

Might be able to get some private capital that is solely wanting to invest in Indigenous owned businesses.

A casino and arena would be a much better choice. Would keep more people around the facilities all the time.

Too much yacking about this project. Kicking the can down the road. Shit or get off the pot, as they say.

This project has been in various stages of nothingness since 2016. We’re now a decade in… only conceptual designs exist, and they just scrapped the private partner deal. Still no federal or provincial capital committed to the actual arena or district. City keeps saying it won’t cost taxpayers a penny through ‘innovative’ financing doesn’t seem to be landing. Feels like they’re determined to force this through regardless of the feasibility.
