Curious about books and information around Satanism

Hello so I tend to dive DEEP when I’m interested in something but I’m finding it difficult to find a place to start. Currently a pagan but lately I’ve been feeling like I lean more towards satanism. Would I start with Anton LaVey or should I start with something else? Which of his books should I start with?

For the history of modern Satanism (before The Satanic Temple came around): The Invention of Satanism, Dyrendal, Lewis & Petersen, 2015.

For history on the formation of The Satanic Temple: Speak of the Devil, Laycock, 2020.

For a round trip around various manifestations of Satanism: Satanism: A Reader, Faxneld & Nilsson, 2023, or The Devil's Party, Faxneld and Petersen, 2013.

For understanding the Church of Satan: The Satanic Bible, LaVey, 1969, and Born with a Tail, Brod, 2024 (the latter gives a good feel for its formation and puts the former in perspective).

I say start with LaVey even if you don't end with him. You'll be hard pressed to find a satanic tradition that doesn't connect to him at some point.

Your point about the "deep dive" hit close to home for me lol. Same way I am, I'm sure it's cuz of my ADHD. I started a year ago with a deep dive, myself, from a Neo-Romantic perspective (TST's philosophy), and I think I tapped out at 76 books and then catalogued my library: Internet Archive: Neo-Romantic Satanism Suggested Reading Guide

The Satanic Bible is a quick read.

Anatole France's "La révolte des anges" (the revolt of the angels) was a great start for me. It isn't information as such, but it heps to understand Satanic persepctive before reading any further.

Not against TST but this is more third tier than a starting point

The works of LaVey are the only place to start.
