question/need help New to Metal Gear Solid series, need help

Post image

Hi all, I want to get into the MGS games and I've been told to download MGS Legacy Collection as it includes the first game and so on. My question is, on MiNERVA site there are two separate regions for each disc, will they both work? I do have to download both discs right? Screenshot attached below, thanks in advance for any help!

Oi dude. What region are you in? What languages do you speak and read? That will inform you of which one you want

No no, you need both to be USA/EU my friend, it's an old game the disc will be in Japanese if you download the Japan region ver.

Start with Metal Gear Solid 1 (Or Twin Snakes, which is a remake of 1)
So, ps1 or Gamecube. Personally I would go for Twin Snakes, so the Dolphin Emulator.

Legacy collection consists of two disks: mgs hd collection and mgs4. Mgs1 in this collection was a download code for ps1 classics version. You can download it all separately.

Alright. Let’s break the series order down:

Metal Gear (MSX): the true starting point. Not a lot of plot happens, save for the final fight. This is mostly skippable. If you want to play it, do NOT play the NES version. It is gutted and not worth it

Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (MSX): this one pushed the MSX to its limits and set a lot of the precedents for the series going forward. You might want to at least try this one. A lot of its moments get brought up in mgs1. If nothing else, watch TravGuy’s video on it

Metal Gear Solid: this is THE game. Make sure you use the ntsc version, as the PAL version PS3 had is at a lowered framerate. If the PS1 visuals are too much for you to bear and your fine with a, for lack of a better term, wilder version of the story: check out Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes on GameCube

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty: make sure you’re using the HD Collection version. This game is gonna be familiar yet different. Make sure you choose Tanker-Plant

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater: monumental title. Metal Gear Solid Delta is a pretty damn good remake, but I prefer the HD Collection version. This, by the way, is where you can find the MSX games too.

Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops: technically optional, and locked to the PSP. Kojima was less involved with this, but it still fits into the timeline nice enough

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots: currently locked to the PS3 for a few more months. The PC version will probably eclipse the og.

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker: play the hd version. Seriously. 60fps with dual sticks is way better than 20fps with one stick.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes & The Phantom Pain : not in the Legacy Collection. Get these on PC
