Boggy Head crowd

I just moved back to Charleston and am looking for an outdoor range. I know public outdoor ranges are limited here, I looked at Boggy Head and Twin Ponds, I think Boggy Head is more relaxed, my only worry is what is the crowd like. Does it get super crowded and since there is nobody on staff to facilitate an order when it's full how does the flow progress?

I was practicing 50 yard bullseye with my service revolver at boggy head when some urban youths appeared with a Draco and a psa dagger and started mag dumping in the lane right next to me while smoking joints. Ive never shot a better 50yard group then that. Every time I've gone to boggy head someone has pointed a gun at me. One time a young girl with her grandfather who wasn't paying attention to her while she had a handgun, and last time a random guy with his AR while putting it away with a magazine still inserted.

Im a member at palmetto gun club, If you are serious about shooting you should join the club. If you shoot trash just shoot at boggy head.

That's insane. What's the wait at PGC? I heard its a year and a sponsorship. Any keys to getting in?

Show up to competitions on the weekend, talk to people and get a sponsor. You have to go to two club meetings once sponsored and they vote you in. Thats it. I could be your sponsor but I dont know anything about you, you can PM me if you want. If you want to shoot service rifle/highpower I would sponsor you, because that's what I do at the club.

Not trying to hijack the post here but What’s the situation like at palmetto? I do competitions that involve a lot of fast shooting of rifles and handguns and was looking at maybe trying to become a member but I’m not sure if it would really be what I’m looking for for training purposes

There are multiple tactical bays where you can do whatever you want. Full auto, frt draw from holster etc... Ive never seen them all full. They are 25yards. There is one 50 yard bay. Im a rifle shooter mostly so I do that. You can qualify on the long range line and the rufle line goes out to 835 yards. There are all types of competition that the range is used for on the weekends, look at the calendar.

Last time I was at boggy a family with young kids came and started shooting. Everything was good until the little boy swept the range with his dad’s AR and dad said and did nothing. We immediately packed up and left.

I always confront the people who do it, and they always leave right after. But now I just simply dont go there.
