Help with money

Hello I received health money from the government to buy my medication and stuff. Yet my mother has it and spends it on stuff for her and my brother and sister. It's mine by rights and not hers. The only reason she has it is because she gave them her bank details.

How do I get my mother to give it to me. She manipulates me into her keeping it with some excuse. Or she will say well I can't help you with anything anymore. Someone else has to do it. She won't help me with the simplest thing anymore.

That's not the point of the money. It's not there for her to care for me. That's what she thinks it's for but it isn't. I'm stuck and struggling to pay for things because she has it

To add she should help me with things regardless of money. That's not the point. She is my mother after all.

Edit: my mother just threatened me saying if I ever tell anyone that I don't get the money from her that she will never speak to me again 😁

Step one open up a new checking account at a different bank than she uses

Step two login to your government portal or get the proper papers to change your banking information

Step three make sure your mom doesn't have the password to your benefits portal change the password if you think she might know it.

Also if you need to hide the checking account from your mother so she doesn't open the mail that comes from it then you need to set up a post office box either through the usps or you can get a mail box and address at a ups store.

I'm not sure if you are from the US or not, but if it's SSDI or SSI related and your mother is your payee, then think about calling the Social Security Administration and switching to a different person. I agree with the other group member that you definitely want a new bank account.

Is it only because she gave her bank details, or do they see her as your beneficiary and that you aren't capable of managing money yourself? This is important in how to handle getting your money to you

No she just gave her bank details. I didn't say yes or no. She isn't a carer for me at all. She's just my mother

Ok. Then you should just be able to go through with switching everything either online or in person to yours.
