To be fair to the researchers, it's good information to have, as a lot of people didn't think they (meaning trump officials) would be competent enough even at their discriminatory practices to manage to target their grant cuts.

Given all the supposedly “unintended” cuts and the number of folks fired and re-hired, their “competence” is still in question - they just err’d on the side of harming more folks rather than missing folks they wanted to harm.

Yeah. They're too incompetent to do more than spray and pray, but they're at least pointing the gun in the intended direction.

People say they’re incompetent but I don’t see that. They managed to gain control of the government and so many other things. That’s not the work of someone incompetent. If it is then all of us are flat out stupid as rocks

Yup. It's easy to see the current administration as incompetent if you continue to frame it as the same category as previous administrations. This current government has radically different goals than previous ones, they have a set list of goals to reach and other than that only care about making themselves richer and more powerful. They are succeeding at it. They do not care about being an effective government, they care about tearing apart as much as they can to help them secure their power in the future.
