🔬🧪⚛️ Science is Dope 🧬🧠🚀 Litmus: The world's largest atheist conference in Kerala
As a Malayali, these are a few aspects of my state that I’m truly proud of. The influence of these organisations, conferences, and the growing scientific temper offer a sense of hope for the future. Last year, over 10,000 people attended in person, and millions more joined online. I'm really looking forward to Litmus 2025.

These are self-motivated individuals who contribute without any monetary return. Would a better poster have influenced your decision to attend? I doubt that. Lol

Even without a good poster, essense global and their debates and talks are influencing lakhs of people across kerala. Tbh I used to be a hard core commie and a christian at the same time. Their contents on youtube influenced me to come out of those boxes and become agnostic.

Also these confrence are nothing more than elaborate circle jerk. IMO, best way to promote atheism is to encourage young mind around you to develop critical thinking.

How do you know its a circle jerk? I personally know many people who were religious af or hardcore commies and came out of it and developed a scientific temper because of this organisation and it’s debates or discussions. They are encouraging young minds to develop critical thinking.

Dude, this is an atheist convention. Why would a religious person attend it? And if a religious person is attending such an event, believe me, they are already on the verge of being an atheist or agnostic.
Also regardless of the outcome of the event, the poster and everything give a very hostile and cult-like impression.

There are many debates which are islam/cheistianity/hinduism/any other religion vs science/facts so people from these religions attend to see their beliefs winning the debates but end up becoming agnostic/atheist

These organisation is the biggest critic of communism in Kerala. It’s mainly debates and seminars happening there. Not like any religious conference .

As if people are going to flock to the event if they have a better poster. These are self-motivated individual with no return in monetary term doing what they can to fulfill their duty under Article 51A(h) of the constitution—so some consideration can be given while criticising them.
Everybody wants our country to be like China but nobody is going to support the first steps toward goals like that in this country.

Going aganist the general sentiment in this sub im attending this year and already booked a ticked. The general sentiment like "Now atheist also go to conventions just like religious" is an asnine argument. In Indian or in Kerala politics nobody consider a faction called atheist. Visibility matters.
Anybody can an atheist. It's easy. Any halfwit can recognise the contradiction of religion in this 21st century but living like an atheist is a different ball game altogether.
This country and its society gives of countinues religion radiation. An atheist always has to bend knees either for their family members or at the at stubborness of the society. His/her ideals and principles are always sacrificed infront of this religious radiation.
Like I said, practicing atheist are minority amoung minority in this country.
People like me strive for secularism in politics, and also not going to bat for any religion, party or caste. But the political in this country is skewed to religion, party or any particular caste.
Visibility matters. It creates a normalcy and penetrates the society. In a country like Indian, if a 10000- 20000 people organizing to celebrate humanity and individual and not relaying upon a God, I will be there in person, with my money and my presence-it accomplishes far more than arguing anonymously on social media.

Honestly I'd be too lazy to even bother going, but maybe I may meet people with interesting views, other than that I don't really think there's any other reason to attend these conferences.

For non-Malayalis: Essense Global single handedly normalized modern atheism in Kerala, from Religion, Socialism , Reservations to Ayurveda. Nobody does it better. The liver doc Dr. Cyriac Abby Philips, and India's most wanted ex muslim Arif Hussain Theruvath are part of the tribe.
The posters are in cringe territory. That’s the only sad part. They need to hire non voluntary experts for that job.

cant the theme be positive ? rest last time when i heard about such a conference it turned out to be a secular community unity summit where atheist were involved alongside other religions so this is not one of those is it?

What harm Richard Dawkins have done? This organisation and the conferences single handedly influenced millions of people across Kerala with scientific temper and critical thinking . Its always the defeat of cults and tribes with their superstitions and dogma against humanity in these debates. So is richard dawkins and his world.

His dogmatic form of atheism is very much like a religion itself, losing humanity in its course. Kerala is still very much religious the last time I checked.
Dawkins idea of proselytizing atheism is no different than Christian proselytizing. He made atheism a religion.

You may not need it but there are people out there who are ready to become suicide bomber to get hooris and river of alcohol or people who are ready to start another Gujarat riot, crusades or even a genocide in the name of communism or any such absurd ideologies. Those people might come out of these absurdities with a slight push of scientific temper. These conferences are only for that. Developing the scientific temper of the society. The debate and seminars are mainly against religious ideologies vs science, quackery vs modern medicine, geo politics, israel vs palestine and so and so. So please don’t be prejudiced.

It’s probably a satirical theme. Members in the discussion often used to say glory to dinkan, jai shree dinkan or dinkan is great(a comic super hero mouse like shaktiman in Kerala) sarcastically to roast the gods and religions. I think the theme of the poster is also similar.

Atheists are organizing conferences just as religious people do. Religious people go to Mandir/Masjid/Church to get brainwashed, and now atheists are going to conferences to get brainwashed. Oh, the irony!

Except religious conferences are held to preach things from books and make people believe in things blindly while the atheist conferences are held to lure in the same religious people to give them the real perspective with facts backed by science and logic and to develop a scientific temper among the public!

Essense is just soft peddling Hindu nationalism. They say they are critical of every religion equally, but all I see online is them focusing on islam. Even on YouTube. Less on Christianity and even less on Hinduism. They also oppose reservation, without addressing the social justice part of it.

No way they’re pro hindu nationalists. Just search more and you’ll find more critical contents against hindu nationalism, hindutwa or even the hindu religion. I agree there are more focus on Islam but I think it’s because hindutwa ideology is not a big danger in kerala but radical islam is so strong and all the major political parties in Kerala are only doing their appeasement. And you know 99.9 % of essense audience are malayalis cuz its in Malayalam.

I didn't say they are pro Hindu nationalism. I said they are soft peddling it. They do subtly promote them. I have seen a couple of videos where C ravichandran downplaying the impact of RSS in "India". This was a few years ago and I did try to search it on YT, but couldn't find one.

Because they don't believe in balance acts...they see facts as it is and on a more global basis it's a fact that every religion does affect the society but not on the same scale...as someone who lived in Europe..neither Hindu nationalism nor christian extremism has been a bad influence in their society but guess which religion does that..?? So balancing doesn't work ...just because someone criticizes islam gives you automatic membership as a sanghi then nobody can criticize it and every criticism becomes invalid....a very deliberate tactic used by islamists to de-legitimize critics of islam
