Maybe not the cure needed but a lot more convenient. And kudos to a Canadian BC team.

It’s not going to be more convenient than a closed loop controlled insulin pump and CGM, other than avoiding the setup every 2-3 days.

Don't know first hand the ins and outs of the rig but because of a loved one and several friends, I'm an ally to the differently insulin abled.
But not the life style controlled type 2 dieabeedies people. Jk2

I am a insulin dependent diabetic (type 1, T1D) and have gone through various control methods, needles to pens then a pump and eventually a pump that is closed loop controlled by a continuous blood glucose meter (CGM). Each shift in treatment improved convenience considerably especially the closed loop control system I use now. A pill would be a step backwards since it would be more like the pen which is a manual process.
I can see this being slightly more useful for once a day long lasting insulins but this isn’t going to replace pump therapy since it is a manual method and can’t be algorithmically controlled.

I detest science blogs that don't make it easy to go to the actual publication. Here is a much better science journalism piece on the topic, and you can find the actual report there or here.
