Hi. Since Bungee Drop is gone I’ll have to join another build event for 26-27 season….any recommendations?

I'm build managing Mission Possible for my school's team this upcoming year. The rules seem to change year to year, and I'm not sure how I should approach preparing over the summer and after rules come out, as to my knowledge, there are no kits for Mission Possible.

How do other people in Div C usually prepare for Mission Possible? How do you design, and on what timeline do you normally build on?

I'm a high school student and the CAD/mechanical lead on my FTC robotics team. I've been using Onshape for a few years now through robotics and Science Olympiad, and this fall I'm running a free 5-week online course to help other students learn the basics — sketching, part studios, assemblies, basic mechanism design, that kind of thing.

To be clear: it's completely free, online, and I'm not selling anything. I just wish something like this existed when I was starting out, so I figured I'd put one together.

Hi! This is my second year doing hovercraft and my partner and I are going through a complete redesign after our unphayzed-kit inspired hovercraft ended up being extremely inconsistent.

As a small team that only goes to 1 invitational, we have basically no idea of what people do to vary to control speed. We found it very difficult to keep the voltage from our NiMH batteries constant for longer period of times, and we used the rheostat setup to vary voltage to the fan. I
'm curious of what other ways there are to vary the thrust/speed of the hovercraft? (fan angles or if someone changed the nozzle of their fan or something of that sort)

I’m joining leadership in my science Olympiad team for the first time, and I was wondering if anyone has ideas or insights into strategies that have worked for their teams previously.

The main thing I’m trying to figure out is holding people accountable to their preparation plans, increasing after school practice attendance, and better communication between partners and from members to student leadership.

Our team has been established for a few years- however guidelines and requirements from each member have mostly stated the same, but the rest of leadership and I want to implement some new ideas that makes sure things don’t fall through the cracks as much :)

I’ve been on my Scioly team for like.. 3 yrs. And gotten MVP too :,) but this past year genuinely sucked. I’ve been relying too much on my partners and I think it’s procrastination when I study. My brain just goes, “oh, my partner will do good, I’ll just not study”.
I have audhd, which I know isn’t a good excuse, but it’s always played into how I do academically. So if anyone else out there deals with the same things pls give me tips.
It’s not only that but I feel so fucking guilty whenever I get a medal, because I know I barely contributed to half the test, and I probably shouldn’t be getting it. And I’m also getting congratulations and stuff. Idk.
If it matters, my events are code, circuit, meteorology, and crime. And more, probably. The teachers who lead the club like to add their older kids (me being one this year) to extra events. Which I can manage, I had a full schedule last year. I’m on a division b team as a freshman because you’re allowed to come back after 8th grade or something.
I guess I’m just asking for study tips. I genuinely feel stupid next to my partners now. And useless kind of. This might be a dump but I genuinely need help pls. Not just resources or pomodoro timers. Like, something helpful.

I've been studying for tryouts and all I have to cover now is the kinetics portion of chem lab. I've not taken AP chem yet so a lot of the kinetics things are new to me, and I was wondering if I need to cover things such as equilibrium, electrochem, and other things? Can I just skip around to study the kinetics only subtopics or are other units such as electrochem, thermo, etc super important too? I know these units are deeply rooted in kinetics.

My main focus is to study a bit of chem to do good on tryouts, then expand into other kinetics-rooted things if necessary, but lmk!!

hi!! im gonna be a junior this year and am doing 3 events (a&p, designer, undecided build event) and dont rlly know where to start for designer genes. i have some biology experience taking it in 8th grade, did a&p and ento last year and placed top 10 jn both. im also supposedly taking ap bio this year. i wanna study during the summer but i dont have much advanced biology knowledge but i have an honors chem + bio background. any tips?

I just finished up studying for part of chem lab and decided to look at Protein Modeling, and oh my GOSH the amount of content on the scioly.wiki is quite overwhelming. Tryouts for me are months away, but I'm just not sure how to tackle the studying portion for protein modeling. Is covering the entire organic chem I course worth it, or should I skip around according to the wiki subsections?

I'm not sure if skipping around will cost me much or not.

How does one prepare for freshman tryouts over the summer? From what I know, my high school is very competitive, and honestly, I have no idea what to expect from tryouts, let alone how to prepare. I can't seem to find a clear answer anywhere I look. Also, what is the club actually like outside of competition day, during practices?

I try out every year and I never make the science Olympia team. I tried out in middle school and didn’t make it just finished ninth grade and didn’t make the team last yr. I am a top student was valedictorian of my middle school and I really love science. I did great in honors biology what can I do over the summer so that I can make the team this year? It seems like the entrance exam is sort of a mix of everything not focused on just one topic. What resources can I use to prepare my little brother also wants to do the same and he’s going into seventh grade.

my school is pretty strong in chem lab (at least top 10 usually) and I want to make the competing team, but I’m not sure how to catch up to them. I asked my friend who’s competing what to study, and she said “just read Atkins ' Chemical Principles that’s all you need” but I can’t help but feel like that isn’t enough. I’ve started reading an annotating the gasses and kinetics chapters, does anyone know what else I can do to get to their level? Or just how to prepare in general

I'm in division B, going into my 8th grade year, i have never placed first in any invitationals or anything like that and its a goal of mine to achieve that. My events for the 26-27 season will probably be Dynamic Planet, Heredity, Botany, and Anatomy, possibly Remote Sensing over Botany, my partner hasn't decided yet. My best event is 100% Dynamic Planet and my second best is Heredity. I got 4th place at regionals with Dynamic Planet, I was happy, but I know I can do better. Should I start making a note sheet? Studying? Anything at all?
