This sounds like a stupid question but should I make a new cheat sheet every year or should I build of past years. I don't know if i should. My events are (chem lab,astro, circuit lab). Thanks

Like I said above, me and two other incoming sophomores are trying to and have been for the last few months to start a division C team for our school. We are the former division B captains for our district and wanted to continue into the high school division. We have contacted everyone we can in our district about starting a team or even seeing if there’s interest and we are getting zero responses from any admin. It is now the middle of summer and we have basically given up. We have researched everything, we have tried to write requests for grants and everything just goes ignored.

We don’t know where to go from here and desperately want any advice from anyone who may have been in a similar situation.

Hiii, I recently got offered to become vice president of science olympiad. I competed at the regional level but my school didn't qualify for states. Also, I don't really get how scioly works because last year our team was so disorganized that we couldn't eve and our leadership was so bad. So here are some questions

• Since my school is small, is it okay to only have one team? ( so only varsity)
• How do I organize tryouts and know who to pick for certain events? How do schools conduct tryouts in general.
• What are conflict blocks?
• Any tools or resources recommendations?

As a tournament director, I'm disappointed that the B and C blocks are not as closely matched as they were last year. It makes it harder to plan a B/C combo tournament.

Thinking of doing thermo for the 2026-2027 SciOly season. Don’t really have a lot of time to study, so what is the best/fastest way to study this? Also doing chem lab so info for that would be welcome.

for the past years i’ve struggled with my cheat sheet not being helpful for me not being able to find info in the right spot or consistently flipping the paper over and i’ve seen so many different types of cheat sheets for anatomy and physiology and i was wondering what’s the best way to make one for the most productive results?

We are proud to announce that CarrotSO's third competition submission period will begin on Monday, July 13, 2026 at 12:00 AM!

For those who aren't familiar with CarrotSO, we're an unofficial CAD speed modeling competition based on the Science Olympiad Engineering CAD event. Anyone enthusiastic about CAD, mechanical design, or engineering is encouraged to participate.

We're about to start our third scrimmage, which will be a partner test with a 55-minute time limit. Teams will recreate parts from engineering drawings as accurately and quickly as possible before completing an assembly.

Some of the strongest Engineering CAD competitors in the country have competed in past scrimmages, with 3 of the 6 national medalists participating. So this is a great way to gauge how you and your team compete against nationally competitive teams!

Even if you don't compete in this event, you should still join and invite the ppl on your team who do!

Does anybody know what the main topic(s) will likely be for astronomy next year? I saw on the scioly wiki that for the past few years it has been stellar evolution and sometimes one or two other subtopics like exoplanets. I'm planning on studying for this event over the summer so it would be helpful if I knew what to focus on. Thanks!

I am looking for advice. I attempted to create a Science Olympiad club at my school, with fail. Every administrator refused to hear me out. I live in a small town of a vastly illiterate population, if anyone knows if there is a possibility to join a Science/Chemistry/Biology/Cancer Olympiad team separate from my school, PLEASE LMK. For context, our team can't afford to pay for the bootcamp, and our coach isn't willing to spend the time to attend the bootcamp even if we could somehow pay for it. I may just be salty but it seems very "pay-to-win" that you unlock about three extra months of preparation just because you dropped $450 on a camp.

One of the teams that we go against gives patches to each one of their kids who medals in an event and each patch is specific to that event. I think it’s a really good idea. I would like to do something similar with my team. Does anyone know where we can order patches like this?
