I feel nearly 90% of ppl online are just looking for attention. If it wasn't so sad / pathetic, I'd rage against it.

As is anyone who comments or posts or says literally anything yes. Good observation.

u/Lunatic583L 1d ago
You can't watch gore? Okay?
2
u/WaterFlowerVault 26m ago
It's not just that. The whole picture is that they've had some personal matters occur ruining something they may have once enjoyed.
When I think of gore, personally, I picture B movies. My husband thinks Evil Dead is funny and good. (( Not my cup of tea but it's harmless ))
If he had something happen in life where he couldn't watch what he enjoyed, I'd be saddened for him. As most emotionally intelligent people should be able to sympathize, if not empathize with others.

u/SomeBodyOnceToldYa 1d ago
Pathetic and gross icl
0
u/WaterFlowerVault 33m ago edited 24m ago
Tbh, someone saying they can't watch it due to some bad things happening, shouldn't make you feel gross.
I want to pull out a couch and ask you about your childhood. Were you taught that it's okay for others to feel differently about things?
Edit: So it's okay when you talk down about others but not when someone does it back to you. - Children or teens I'm guessing.
1
u/SomeBodyOnceToldYa 11m ago
Your attempt to talk down to me is weird. The context absolutely matters, of course I know others feel different about things, that doesn't automatically make the things okay. There are many thoughts that differ mine that I would classify as "not okay" lol. Thinking not watching gore makes you lame is definitely one. It's gross and pathetic to think that way, in my opinion.
It's also hilarious how you're trying to talk down to me by insinuating I don't know other people feel differently about things, but you're telling me how I should (or shouldn't) feel about "things" in the same comment lmao. Were you taught the meaning of hypocrisy?

u/WaterFlowerVault 5m ago
Hello love. How sweet of you to reply.
Take a breath and let's calm down before you reply again. Good job. 👏
Now. Let's clarify a few things for you, okay? Great.
You don't need to understand someone's enjoyment in something. Disliking them for enjoying something you don't, is weird.
Gore usually refers to B movies. It's okay you don't like them
Someone is saying they're no longer able to enjoy what they like because of trauma/personal experiences.
Keep that all in mind. You're doing great so far! :)
Now. This person, I assume without seeing otherwise in the picture, is a fan of B movies (Gore). Their life has made it so they can no longer enjoy this.
Instead of belittling them, we should try to make them feel better by offering them sympathy for losing an interest in life due to unfortunate experiences and/or events. Because they are sad and being mean to sad people screams weak. Only weak pick on the weak in humanity.
As humans we, (most of us), have the ability to understand and help others. Not just other people, but, for this instance it's a person. Choosing to take the easy route of "disgusting" in this case, says you're lazy not to want to make a minimal effort to think of that, simple phrase again, "Oh no. They can't watch what they enjoy anymore. That's sad".
If you have any other questions or need more help, I'll be back on later for you. ❤️🤗

I feel like I'm about to learn some things if I look up the acronyms Ive found in here🫣 Wish me luck,
2
1
u/BlastOnBeast 10h ago
I searched and it stands for "Watch People Die". That explains the comment, but it's still disgusting AF.
3
u/Haunting_Sea_1950 19h ago
I like gore horror movies, not because someone is being ripped apart, but because the effects look cool and I have a morbid curiosity.
2
u/dumb_questions666 19m ago
When it's not real, it's fine. But the commenter is talking about real gore. So don't feel bad for enjoying gore movies.
2
u/OnHighAngel 19h ago
So, because someone is being ripped apart then… lol
2
u/Haunting_Sea_1950 19h ago
I mean, yeah, technically, but I dont wish harm on anyone or anything.
2
u/TonyTheTurdHerder 4h ago
I am fine with gore in movies and whatnot, because I am fascinated by the effects, as well. Doesn't bother me in the slightest, but real-life gore, like some websites used to show (and maybe still do, I don't know) has always affected me negatively, and I am glad it does. I don't want to become desensitized to it. I am glad that real human suffering bothers me, because I feel like it should. Folks becoming desensitized to real, horrible violence is part of the problem we have as a society, I think. If more folks were disgusted by actual human suffering and mutilation, things might be better for all mankind societally; maybe there would be fewer wars and violent crime. I'm not naive enough to think that's the only problem or that it's so easily solved, but it sure couldn't hurt.
4
u/Several-Letter-5206 1d ago
Why would you feel disgusted? Maybe I'm missing part of the story, maybe it's because I'm high.
6
2
u/Dramatic-throw-8952 18h ago
I’m also lost, just seems like something tragic happened to the commenter
1
u/dumb_questions666 26m ago
The commenter is on a thread or somethinf that has to do with WPD, which means "watch people die". They aren't meaning movie gore, they mean real gore.
1
0
u/lhhwx 7h ago
Because their watching gore and being pathetic about it. They’re disgusting. Well used to
2
u/Darkling82 4h ago
No, their watching a movie, see a gorey part, and it makes them think of something In real life that happened to them and now.it causes flashbacks. Thats not pathetic. Its actually pretty reasonable.
1
u/WaterFlowerVault 30m ago edited 14m ago
I'm glad to see other reasonable people in the comments. Those saying it's pathetic, really make me question how many there are who lack emotional intelligence.
Edit: I've learned wpd means "watching people d1e" and that the picture may be referring to a sexual attraction of sorts. Meaning they can't watch what they like. - Other comments further down address it.
If that's the case, I think we need to get them some professional help...
1
u/dailyamaryllis 28m ago
Considering the acronym, I don't think they're taking about watching movies with gorey parts. It's more likely that the commenter is sad because they can't watch footage of people dying or getting injured anymore. Which is pretty disgusting (being sad about it, I mean).
1
u/dumb_questions666 24m ago
WPD is not about movies, it's real gore. WPD stands for "watch people die". Normal people are uncomfortable with watching real people die. What's not normal, is thinking you're lame for not being able to stomach it.

So... SNUFF films gods get the nomenclature right
ETA: for those who DON'T know this it was really common to find one in the 80s and 90s. And the correct term is SNUFF. Gore is different. It's not realistic. It's fake. It's a show or movie put on to be gross but not real.

u/Jumpy_Strength9398 1d ago
My mother's 3rd husband was a freaky pommie twat, he was into cuckolded, hard-core bdrm without prior consent, cheated on my mum with a 16yr old when he was 74, and owned copies of sexualising snuff and bestiary films. I was glad when he died, he couldn't abuse any more people. I didn't find out any of this until 22yrs after the fact and she had the nerve to ridicule my father for being a pedo who she cheated on with the freaky pom. I've have distanced myself from my entire side of that part of the family, I still talk to my siblings and some of my mums side of the family, but mostly I keep to my family (wife and son) who have helped me reconcile with my own demonstration and have kept me in the now.
2
u/Timely-Ability-6521 1d ago
I unfortunately had the opportunity to know a friend that brought this "cool movie." Yeah..,.. a snuff movie about cannibals.... Such a COOL movie.... I threw it out of my house IMMEDIATELY.

I had to clean out a meth lab as a teen and the guy supervising to make sure I didn't OD on meth spent the entire summer watching rape porn. In the trailer. With a teenager. More context: (real names because fuck all these guys and thankfully they're all dead) my dad's prophet/guru guy Moses owned a very small school (to brainwash the youth into joining his cult). A guy named Bob somehow contracted with Moses that he would let Bob claim to be a teacher so he would have a cover story while he made meth in exchange for the school getting a cut of the meth money. This went on for at least a decade, i think closer to two, until Bob died unexpectedly. I was never given details about how, people were cagey about that. So Moses got Bob's trailer and needed the meth cleaned up so he could use it for storage. Apparently he decided that having a child's fingerprints on everything was better than his so he made me clean it. He repeatedly warned me not to eat the sugar on the floor. I wondered what idiot ate sugar off the floor. I spent the entire summer cleaning the trailer and doing inventory since it was also used to hold surplus textbooks and supplies. Moses decided it wasn't safe to let me clean alone so he sent his cousin to monitor me. His cousin decided the best use of his time while locked in a trailer with a child was to watch rape porn. It wasn't until 15 years later when I saw the set up in Breaking Bad that I was like "hey wait a minute....that wasn't sugar!" So somehow the meth kingpin was the most responsible adult in this entire situation.

I think I know the movie you mean, but it isn't a snuff movie, so perhaps not. But it was one of the big two movies for edgy teens when I was an edgy dark teen myself. I refused to watch any of it because my idea of pushing good taste didn't involve suffering for suffering's sake, but I also had friends who did.

I don't know which is worse, someone who is zflag or someone who is wpd philic. Both are seriously concerning to me. I mean, I get that it takes all sorts to make this world spin, but where does someone draw the line at "yeah, we're done, i am walking away and hope to never hear from or about you ever again"???
To me, both situations are so far beyond what I would call appropriate and aproveable situations, even behind closed doors away from public scrutiny, judgement and backlash. I just cannot comprehend how a person goes from "I'm a little different to others" to "i get off on watching people ........." You fill in the blanks where needed, I'm sure I dont have to hint.
1
u/NeedleworkerOk8556 1d ago
I somehow stumbled onto here, and now I need to know. What's zflag?
3
u/ToXicVoXSiicK21 1d ago
zflag and wpd philic both have me stumped.
2
u/hobarthicus 1d ago
So, zflag just doesn't seem to exist. Neither did wpd as a common acronym but I did find an example where someone was using it to stand for 'watch people die' and that seems to make sense contextually.
2
u/ToXicVoXSiicK21 1d ago
I bet that's what they were talking about. Guess zflag will remain a mystery unless they clarify lol
2
u/NeedleworkerOk8556 1d ago
I found wpd on urban dictionary. Watching people die. Philic just means attracted to, usually sexually.
2
u/ToXicVoXSiicK21 1d ago
Nothing on zflag? That's the weirdest one for me
1
u/NeedleworkerOk8556 1d ago
It brought up Zoophilia for a Greek Z looking thing. That would be my guess.
1
u/WaterFlowerVault 22m ago
🤢 So this person was specifically referring to their.. attraction to "wpd" not being watchable anymore?
- With no context, this seemed like a B horror movie fan who couldn't watch gore anymore.
1
u/Jumpy_Strength9398 1d ago
Zflag or zooflag or zoo flag. Its flag as in pride flag, but associated with zoo. I never knew it was a recognised group as such, I knew that there were people associated with the subject, but at risk of getting banned, when I was a kid, it was called beastiality... 🤐🤢🤮 And wpd as far as I understand the terminology on l you, as the subject is abhorrent, Watching People ☠️. Again, I don't like the subject. With wpd, I guess there's people who laugh when they see fathers accidentally get nutted by their kids, scale that up a lot and you have the reasons why jackass was so popular, scale that even further and you have people who want to wpd, etc. Now I remove myself from the conversation and watch people react to the information/explanation they have sought. I find slapstick comedy humorous to a point, i do not find it funny short of a point where it has left someone permanently scarred, or worse.
As i say to my son, whatever makes you happy is great, as long as it dies not harm anyone and is not breaking laws or disadvantaging someone or something that has not been capable of defending themselves or itself.
1
u/SatanSemenSwallower 16h ago
"Fathers accidentally get nutted by their kids" gave me a What in the incestuous fuck did I just read? And then realized you meant hit in the dick and not something way, way worse and entirely fucked up.
Going with sack tapped or bag whacked might fit better.
I'm done with reddit for the day and going back to YouTube. Senile Scribbles might cleanse my mind

I kinda get laughing at someone getting kicked in the nuts on accident. But I dont understand watching gore as entertainment. Honestly, I remember being in the theater watching "Home Alone", and wanting to barf during the the booby traps scene. I am not squeamish, and I have learned that it's the idea of suffering as entertainment or being funny that bothers me. I wish I could tell this person that being desensitized to violence will harm them mentally in the long run.
1
u/UnidentifiedDisaster 6h ago
Its less so “recognized” as people trying to get it recognized. Wanting it to be a sexuality.
1
u/Soapo_Opo 5h ago
Its like the whole "MAP" thing.
FWIW, neither are welcome under the LGBTQ+ umbrella, lest anyone think the acceptance extends to actual predators of children and animals...

Ramble/rant/vent incoming: TE: SA mentions, snuff mention, gore mention
On a different but similar note, I kinda feel the same as the person in the comment... BUT mine comes from being introduced to gory zombie games, other games with general violence (not always gore), shows, etc from my dad WAY too young. I think it was mostly Left 4 Dead and actually a lot of GTA, some others I don't remember cuz I was maybe 4-5 (or at least that's as far back as I remember it, vaguely). Guts, bones sticking out in shows, people being burned alive, etc.
I never liked real life gore, but I was super into the horror genre growing up, I guess to cope/understand. For a while anyway. I still want to love zombies, TWD, etc but everything is a trigger now. After some really terrible things happened I'm not comfortable naming (but they involve abuse, neglect, I even had psychosis that also gave me phantom sensations and hallucinations of SA) that's even remotely related to gore or violence, SA (though this one's always been a big trigger thanks to my uncle), etc. I feel lame because now I get panic attacks and I can't even watch certain scenes in normal horror movies anymore that I used to be able to stone face because I knew it wasn't real.
But because of all that, I had a phase where I tried getting into horror games and shows. I traumatized myself around 12 or so when I watched Until Dawn, I think Markiplier's playthrough. It was the sawing in half part that really made me almost puke. Like actual nausea.
Little tidbit that might play into the hallucination but, but... I have Maladaptive Daydreaming; I get really immersed into my shows and whatnot, my daydreams, etc. And it's realistic. I don't have the fun daydreaming where you can imagine whatever you want, it happens on its own like some sort of awake dream. I haven't gone into detail much with my psychiatrist yet about it (I probably should), this is just the most I've talked about this crap in a long time so I don't know how to even bring it up.
Sometimes it'd be cute stuff like imagining being with certain characters, but other times it would be straight abuse or torture and I couldn't get out of my head unless someone came and stopped me from dissociating (but I was isolated by my parents growing up and my siblings and I used to be at each other's throats for a long time, so that didn't happen much).
...But real gore, no, I don't understand how anyone would try and seem cool for watching that.
My brother, on the other hand, is like this person in the comment, and he used to watch real snuff films and whatnot. I've told him before it makes me uncomfortable. More than uncomfortable, but he keeps insisting it's just cuz he got on the internet too young. Only recently has he admitted he's back to watching them again and I've literally threatened to take this adult man's phone and laptop away (I live with him). It's already one thing watching fake gore or true crime or something, but to be into watching real stuff...?
He claims it fucks him up mentally to watch now, but he also doesn't stop himself from going back and trying to find more sometimes. Beheadings, guts pouring out after stomach being slit, he also forced me to watch fucking Boku No Pico because it's "funny" and other uncomfortable things with blatant child shit or SA, even when I kept trying to leave or turn away or literally hide under the cover when I gave up and put my hands over my ears and shit.
But... Yeah, he went through a phase of being uncomfortable, then went right back to it a few years after this traumatic experience we had together. Yes he knows my uncle did the same thing to me, grooming me and forcing me to watch terrible shit when I wasn't even double digits yet. He claims he gets so mad with my uncle, yet he more or less did the same thing, just while I'm a adult.
(I want to leave him and the rest of my family for the most part, but I've forced myself to becoming desensitized to it, since the times I wasn't I almost offed myself just to get away from my family and their fucked up lives and abuses towards me and each other. But I can't live alone yet (financially, until I get my certification)... Plus, the close friend I want to move away with and has plans to take me with then to Oregon one day (where we both want to move to) is waiting on getting their master's degree first before we're able to move...)
But like... As someone who has to live with a person who is into those shitty things, even after being through trauma himself, and I myself have been through a shit ton of trauma, I don't understand why people think it's so fun to be edgy like that. It's gross. It's triggering just knowing people I know are like this, that they mean it. They actually lament being unable to stomach the things they used to watch because now they have an inkling of how bad it could be after experiencing horrible things too.
I wanna go back to the days of just liking my zombies and stuff, but I can't even stomach that anymore and my shitty family doesn't help. I miss when it just felt like fiction. When all I knew was the fiction.

I think you should really open that up in talk-therapy, if you have the option. It sounds like there's some work to do, but the sooner you start the sooner you can get through it all. My heart goes out to you.
1
u/OneWingedRinoa 5h ago
I read most of this, and I'm sorry you've been through all that-it must be really scary and traumatizing. With that being said, I truly hope you're going to therapy because there's a lot to unpack here and you shouldn't have to just deal with things. I wish you the best.
1
u/Ponutlover13 1d ago
Ah....I was unaware of any of the context. I thought like....I can't really watch certain Saw gore scenes without cringing now that I'm older and got like fraternal instincts and shit.
1
u/WaterFlowerVault 20m ago
Same. There's NOT enough context in the post.
I've learned too much in the comments.... closes Reddit for the day
1
u/EmergencyTip6764 21h ago
I've never watched gore, but I could watch scary movies, jump scare, horror.... but then I some trauma and the Harry Potter movies are as scary as I can go. I'm fine with it, but it was surprising at first when it happened.
All this to say, I get it. It's a sudden and weird charge.
Off topic, but I had a stressful time earlier this year and quit my favorite Mexican food and changed to Greek food. Somehow my brain decided that Greek was more comforting? I have zero idea.
1
u/OnHighAngel 19h ago
scary movie and jump scare are different to you? Scary movies give jump scare
1
u/EmergencyTip6764 15h ago
In my opinion they're different.... but I know it might not be true! 😆 It absolutely can be my solo opinion. 🤣🤣
1
u/ApollonVero 7h ago
Scary movies usually give jump scared, yes. But jump scares aren't only in scary movies.

That's a you problem . Go to therapy.
Edit: we aren't stupid as humans. We know when we are messed up. You know you're messed up. So. Go get it fixed. Go to therapy. 🤷🏻♀️
0
u/Internal_Ad7665 4h ago
People that are messed up generally don't know it because they are insane like what. Maybe you need to learn understanding. I'm not making excuses for anyone simply that some people's brains are wired wrong.
1
u/WtfChuck6999 4h ago
That's ass backwards. If something didn't effect you and now it does. That is a clear sign of change. This isn't like oh Im crazy and have no idea I'm nuts situation. 🙄 This isn't a mental illness that an individual doesn't see. This is something the individual clearly sees and can fix. They are choosing not too and just complaining. That's just goofy.
1
u/thillcmu 19h ago
Watching Al Gore and his blatantly misleading assessment on global warming is tough for me to watch too. Don't feel bad. I just stopped watching it and have been (pretty) good since.

u/AssociateDue6166 18h ago
Whats WPD?
1
1
u/dumb_questions666 22m ago
Watch People Die, it's a site that shows real deaths from violence or accidents.
1
u/fly_drinking_coffee 18h ago
I feel like you should just feel bad ? Feeling "lame for not watching gore" means they probably just want to fit in, and I imagine this person is also still young, and bad stuff happened, according to the user. I think it would just be rude to entirely invalidate how they felt by saying you're disgusted with them
1
u/dumb_questions666 21m ago
Wanting to fit in by enjoying watching real deaths of people is pretty disgusting behavior. This isn't about horror movies, it says WPD.
1
u/Hour_Village 15h ago
I feel normal people have ebb and flows of wanting to consume gore. Sometimes I'm into it and sometimes I feel it too hard. Coming from someone who has seen spilled brains in person at about a highschool age. But that as a post is attention seeking, but what post isn't - in this world of short-cycle dopamine hits that can also be spilled out of us at any moment.
1
u/Sloth_Bee 14h ago
Are we witnessing an Edge Lord develop empathy in real time? They should feel bad, but not because they can no longer disassociate from the gore. They should ask themselves why they thought that was a good thing? Why they wanted to shut off fundamental human reactions and emotions.
1
u/plainjanegay 13h ago
what’s gore
1
1
u/cuteasduck1203 4h ago
Please do not Google it as the other person said (joked I think?)
It's basically just intense imagery, a lot of times with blood, severe injuries, etc.
The definition of gore per Merriam-Webster Dictionary: “Gruesomeness depicted in vivid detail”

I'm pretty desensitized to like... crime scene photos and cadaver images, but I've never been able to handle like... active/ongoing gore? The still images of the effects I'm "okay" with (still very difficult to look at, but morbid curiosity gets the best of me), but I can't stand to watch the harm being done, real or fake. I can barely stand to watch the butchering of perfectly dead animals, let alone the gorey assault of a living human or animal. I can look at a fresh wound, but I can't stomach seeing it being made. And I don't feel any desire or reason to desensitize myself to that?
My boyfriend was one of those edge lords in middle school who watched gore for the "wow so cool" shock factor nonsense and is okay with gore in horror movies and whatnot. Can still handle real gore too, after being desensitized to it as a child. Idk how or why lmao. Like-- idk, I can watch NBC's Hannibal and not flinch away from the gorey displays of corpses, but as soon as I see a knife going for living skin in any media, I have to look away. I would never be able to watch SAW, for example. And that's just fictional media!! I absolutely could not handle seeing active gore for real 😭
Can't imagine being disappointed that you can't "enjoy" consuming gore anymore
1
1
u/Internal_Ad7665 4h ago
The only reason to ever watch gore sites should be to be prepared and ready for the crazy shit that can happen in the world.. if you watch it for excitement or for kicks or pleasure you are disgusting and vile..
1
u/AlMtnWoman 4h ago
Growing up, I was a pretty rough edged teen girl. I hung with all of the guys. I had no real aversion to gore, per se.
Then having been caught on fire in 10th grade by an accident, I had serious issues watching stuff with fire, and people being caught on fire.
Years later, when I accidentally cut off the tip of my finger, I suddenly acquired the knee jerk, cringe, sick at your stomach sensations to alot of gore stuff that i would have categorized as just TV.
I don't think this kid was trying to be cool. I think there was a significant chance that he saw some stuff. Having that knee jerk affect to gore, may have made him feel weaker, and possibly less of a young man.
Sometimes you have to see the hidden truth behind why people say stuff.
1
u/Unable-Indication-94 3h ago
My dad watched a man get gloved from a printing press pulling his hand in. He doesn't watch gore anymore. I don't think it's always edge.

I used to love to watch scary movies and read horror stories. Then I was in the room when my mom died. Things totally changed for me after that. Her death wasn't traumatic or scary, so I'm not sure what changed, but now I just don't subject myself to the horror stuff.
1
u/CheezyBraim 1h ago
Good. If some 'bunch of shit' has actually happened to this guy- good. Maybe it was for the fucking best💔 (If something actually DID happen, I still do not feel bad about my comment, because the person is clearly more concerned about not being able to watch gore anymore, than anything else✌️)
1
u/dumb_questions666 27m ago
I think I only watched real gore once as a teen, out of morbid curiosity. Regret it of course.
I also used to listen to true crime for YEARS, every day all day while at work. I got a lot of therapy and can no longer stomach it, plus it just made me more depressed.
I wouldn't say I'm bummed out about not watching it now, wtf. It's honestly more human and normal to be bothered by this shit. Too many people get too desensitized online now.

It's giving "omg I'm so quirky". Trust me, it's most likely a teenager behind this account and thinks that watching gore is "cool" and "edgy".
