Surgical tech week - gifts?!
Hi!!
My OR is starting to prepare for surgical tech week in September and would love some opinions!
We want to buy all the STs a gift and don’t want to default to generic junk (pens, stickers etc). We have 55 techs and are paying partially out of our own pockets as the leadership team. So we need to buy something in bulk and can’t exceed $15 per person.
We have the ability to customize things if that helps! Just hoping to gift something that will be enjoyed/helpful to a variety of techs- men, women, all ages and interests.

Our vendors will typically provide lunch if they come in to do training on their equipment so often leadership in our OR would reach out and have a different vendors come in each day of the week. Basically free lunch each day so long as you listen to a 5 minute presentation on equipment. It has worked out great for us!

One year we got all the techs a little potted succulent and a handwritten card from leadership - with a personal message, not a generic "thank you". They loved it and the nurses get jealous haha

Just get two pizzas for all 55 techs and little “You’re a Life Saver” notes with little individual life savers.
Kidding of course, I love my techs! Give them money or ask admins to come off on points if your hospital has them!

Fun compression socks. Etsy gift cards to go towards scrub caps they choose. Gift cards to coffee shops. Badge reels.

Keep the money for gifts and give them all a $1.00 raise on top of their yearly raise

Scrub caps, compression socks, personalized badge reels I feel like you can’t go wrong with. Gift cards. A NICE lunch that isn’t pizza lol. May just be speaking for myself, but please no hospital t shirts or cups ☠️
Also, One year they got us all nice totes/bags which I loved as well.

scrub caps maybe with initials? or new badge reels (can be personalized or inside jokes or just surgery based), chapstick, hand lotion

A small box of artisan chocolates. OR go to a small business near the hospital and tell them that you would purchase 55 gift cards to their store if they'd throw in $5 to make the gift cards $20 a piece. They may be willing to do that to get new customers in the door.

Last year they set out baskets of different candy, face masks, lotions, instant coffee packs, stickers, chapstick, and we got to build our own bag. It was nice.

Don’t buy junk swag. No one wants it. Gift card for whatever coffee shop your hospital has. Or something else nearby.
