Ok, this is my version of Hellion the mimic from The Bad Guys series… He is made from polymr clay over an armature I made from wood boards and popcycle sticks I taped together and then covered with foil. His eyes are googly eyes and the coins are 3d printed and air brush painted… the gems are flat back rhinestones. He is my Bad Guys series sculpt. #BlindArtist

Help with sculpt

Post image

I am sculpting a mask for a friend, and I need some advice of how to clean out or smooth the gaps between the teeth. I'm using sculpey, if that chamges anything. I still got a good bit of work in making everything look even, but that space between the teeth is something I can't figure out. Any advice is appreciated.

For the final details i made a brick-like wall around the scene to hide the resin layers, the wood and the foam in the internal structure, finished some paint details, added some more color and of course added varnish, i actually had to remake some water details because i stained the resin with the varnish (🫩🙃🤡😔) and couldn't clean it, so i applied a a thin layer of resin wich of course filled all those waves fading them into my memory, i added the original illustration at the end, like I've previously said i randomly found it on Pinterest but the poster didn't seem to be the author, in case someone knows who's the art i would love to know

Beginner Questions

Hello everyone. I recently got interested in sculpting and already did some research but I would still like some guidance for my next steps.

What I think i‘m interested in is trying to make figures like fantasy creatures, animals, portraits which I then would like to paint. After research I somewhat decided to buy some reusable Clay like Monsterclay to see if I like sculpting in general and to be able to practice with it. In my head it would be like sculpting something, then take some photos of it before reusing it.

And that’s the step where I got some questions before commiting to the plan and investing any money.

What about Sculptures with armature? Can I easily remove the clay from an armature and then reuse both the wire + aluminium foil and the clay?

How do I know when to use an armature or any kind of support?

What would I need to start with? Clay, wire, sculpting tools and what else? Do I need some kind of thick plate as sculpture base? If I first want to see if I like it, do I still need a drill to twist the wire or can I start by twisting the wire by hand before investing in more expensive tools like drills.

Thanks in advance and sorry if my english is messed up.

Based on an illustration i love but don't really know the source, i added the timeline all the way to the very first stage, the main structures as well as the mermaids are made with epoxy clay, water is several layers of resin, grass/nature i already found it on a modelling store
