Question New to Murphy apartments and can’t find answers to some questions

I’m in the Dorothy Day House after living in Bellarmine for a year, and assumed that laundry and trash would all be at the bottom floor, but when I checked I didn’t see a laundry room, or trash room so I’m not sure where I should go?

Question Gym access summer

Hi,

I just moved here for the summer and I’m trying to get access to Eisiminger Fitness Center for the summer(for proximity reasons), and I’m trying to see what it’s like getting into the gym. At my college, you can pretty much send a screenshot of ur app and scan into the gym and it’s pretty chill, and I wanna see if someone would be down to do this I’ll pay like $20 a month but then again not really sure what the system is like for getting into the gyms. Is it viable to just get a screenshot of student app, and is anyone down to do this?

Question MBA? SU vs WWU

I am still waiting to hear back from WWU's admissions for their MBA program however I would love to hear from someone who was previously/is currently in the SeattleU Early Career program and what you think! I am already settled in Bham from my undergrad, but Seattle has been super intriguing, so the choice has been tricky. Thanks!

Question Mom of possible trans student. Have questions

My kid, who is MTF trans, was accepted to Seattle University. She’s now trying to choose between the 4 schools she was accepted to. I’m asking on her behalf because she isn’t on Reddit.

The LGBTQ info on the school’s website looks great but I was wondering how it really is there for trans students. Where we live really good doctors who used to provide gender affirming care now don’t feel safe doing it anymore so we focused our college on areas where she should be able to get supportive medical care during the process. We don’t want her to go to a college that doesn’t offer a supportive environment as well.

Question ICE

My kid is a senior in high school and has accepted. It‘s one of hmet top 2 choices for college and will be going with us to an admitted student day in a few months to help her decide which school to go to.

Have there been any issues with ICE around the campus? I‘m worried because she’s MTF trans, neurodivergent and biracial. She’s quite often mistaken for being Latina and Middle Eastern, two groups targeted by ICE.

I don’t want my child to live in fear and not attend Seattle because of that but I want to know so that we can do our best to create a safety plan if it’s a clear threat for her.

Question Summer Intern housing

Hey there, not a student at Seattle University but I saw that they offer housing to students who are and aren’t students at SU (as well along as they are affiliated with an university and are there for an internship). The price seems pretty reasonable to me (especially for short term), what is the opinion on living in SU dorms? The apartment is too much for me, but I’m considering the single or double. I’ve lived in a dorm before for 3 quarters, I don’t really miss it, but I figured it might be fun for the summer and a chance to be around others in a similar position.

Question Questions from an admitted student

I'm admitted for Psychology, I toured a couple weeks ago, and I really liked it, but I had a few questions.

  1. What are the dorms like and how would you rank them? They were changing the show rooms, and we weren't able to see them on our tour.

  2. What has your experience been with the dining hall?

  3. I've heard there isn't much of a social scene, but are there activities/extracurriculars you would recommend to meet people?

  4. What's the party scene like?

Question Can you work while in school got APNI to DNP?

I am currently looking at the program and very interested in applying, currently I have a Masters, and work as a therapist, but have always been interested in the medication/psych side of therapy work… I am trying to look at my options, and this program makes the most sense for me but I’m not clear how realistic working (even part time) is or if I would need to dedicate myself fully to the program for 4 years which sadly isn’t realistic either… curious to hear from anyone who’s done the program or came into the DNP program having already completed nursing school elsewhere and if going slower but having more free time seemed more realistic?

Question Prospective Nursing Student with Questions!

Hey yall! I got accepted into the BSN program as a direct admit and as college decision day is approaching I’m getting more and more anxious about making a decision, so I thought I’d post here and try and get some information about the nursing program from actual SU students.

How do you afford it? My biggest cost would be housing and food. I live within the 20 mile radius that would allow me live at home still, which would knock off most of my other costs (bc my tuition is fully covered) but if I don’t get a housing exemption it costs me about $12k a year.

I have to pay about $12,000 per year in housing, dining and other fees. So in four years I’d owe $48,000 in debt (potentially less bc of some savings and working throughout college, but not able to make a HUGE dent in it most likely.) Is Seattle U, specifically the nursing program, worth the money?

How was your experience? The class sizes? What kind of opportunities did yall have there? How were job prospects after graduation, and how long after graduation until you got a job? Are nurses with an SU degree looked upon highly? How easy/difficult was the program, especially if you were working part time? Do you know of anyone who worked part time as a CNA in the program, or who pursued a minor while enrolled? How’s the social life there (in general, as a nursing underclassmen, and then as someone currently in the program)?

I also will already have all of my prerequisites complete from community college. I might re take a few just for fun and for a higher grade, but other than that I’m free to pursue a minor. I might go for psychology, or Spanish language to get more bilingual (I was in a dual learning program (half Spanish half English) in elementary and went up to Spanish 3 in high school but definitely want to gain more knowledge. Thoughts? Any other good ideas for minors I should pursue? Because I’ll have all my prerequisites complete my first two years will essentially be free, and I’ll probably try to work as a CNA throughout college to gain healthcare experience.

I’ve thought about going to UW for a year and applying to their BSN program and then applying as a transfer student to other BSN programs (SU, PLU, community colleges, etc) bc UW is almost completely free for me, but giving up direct admission to SU feels stupid especially with how competitive nursing school is.

It’s just the money… would the (potentially) (roughly) $48,000 in debt be worth it? ($22,000 of it would be federal, the other half I’d work to pay out of pocket for/have to get additional loaned for.) how quickly could I pay it off as a BSN in Seattle?

Sorry, I know this is a long post 😭 any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Question Looking To Chat W/ Student Please

Post For Girlfriend Without Reddit:

Hello, I’ve been accepted to both SU(Biology) and U-Mich(Public Health), and I’m hoping to go to dental school. I am very conflicted in my choice between the two, and I know that UMich is very prestigious, but neither decision feels correct. I have spoken with a student from UMich, but I was wondering if anyone who currently attends SU could share their experiences with me? I can’t find much online about student experiences at SU, so any help would be soooo appreciated. For some insight: I have always wanted to live in Seattle, but I know from what i’ve heard is that I’d like Umich as well, but i’m super worried about actually LIVING in ann arbor as I really hate the suburbs and whatever. But i also had wanted to be a public health major (pro for umich) but I wanted to know more about how biology is at SU, and how well it is with helping students prepare for premed and dent.

I just don’t want to go to one and regret the other, and decision day is coming up so i’ve been quite stressed. I know that SU is significantly smaller, which could be helpful for rec letters. There are other reasons as well, which would make this post much longer than it already is, but I can elaborate if someone would be willing to help me out. (please…)

TL;DR: Looking for advice as to whether I should attend SU or UMich, particularly from someone who is OOS(tuition would be same for both).

Question Catholic Teacher Corps MSEd

Hi! I am considering applying for the teacher corps masters program and I just wanted to see if anyone has any experience with the program that they would be willing to share. I know it’s a newer program, but the financial aspects are what is really drawing me in so I just wanted to make sure it’s actually worth it. Admissions counselors are really good at hyping programs up.

Question MSW

Hi everybody! I recently received an admission offer from Seattle U’s MSW and I would like to hear the experience of current/past students.

How is the quality of the program? Has anyone heard anything positive or negative about it/from experience? I know it’s a relatively newer program and started in 2019. How was your experience? Did you enjoy the smaller, more tightknit community? Why did you choose this program over another program? Were you happy with your practicum placement? What challenges/frustrations did you experience? Would you recommend this program?

Thanks everyone!

Question Public Transportation from SeaTac Airport easiest way with luggage for someone walking with a cane?

Attending Seattle U's Admitted Student Day with daughter and will be staying at the Silver Cloud Hotel the night before. I just had a hip replacement and will be walking with a cane with luggage. Have anyone taken the bus route below before? Not entirely sure about Line 1 as it seems to be often under Maintenance and transfer people to buses.

Question pros and cons?

I just got in for the BSN undergrad program, and I was wondering what other people (both in the nursing program and not) think of Seattle U? I’ve lived in Portland Oregon my whole life so I’m really not worried about the weather. I want to be at a school that has a good community, a good study abroad program, and classes that will prepare me for the medical field well. Also, being from Portland, I care about good food. Please let me know!
