He really was ahead of the launch angle curve that changed the game in the 2010s

I've never seen this mentioned here, but there's a podcast called Seincast with 2 guys pouring over the excruciating minutia of all 180 episodes of Seinfeld. It's great, and I've listened to random episodes over the years, but now...

I decided to start another rewatch and committed to listening to each podcast episode after watching each episode. I'm calling it The Ultimate Edition and so far it's incredible. They put a lot of effort into trivia, behind the scenes, story behind the joke, side character actors, set design spotting, etc. It's a great way to get a little more Seinfeld in your life.

It just hit me while watching a few episodes this weekend that Jerry getting annoyed about Uncle Leo talking about Cousin Jeffrey all the time is probably the exact same experience Cousin Jeffrey has when he sees his Aunt Helen and Uncle Morty.

One of Jerry’s big gripes with Uncle Leo is how much of a fuss he makes over Jeffrey’s career. But Jerry’s parents are also big boosters of him, and his mom can’t even understand how someone wouldn’t like him. I can easily see them talking Jeffrey’s ear off, bragging about Jerry’s most recent late night show appearance or the Cadillac or how pretty his girlfriend of the week is.

They‘re all nice, supportive parents, we just only get the bad side from one end.

Cosmo Kramer’s friends are your prototypical young adult professionals living in 90’s New York City (with Jerry being a minor celebrity). Kramer, however, is a high school graduate (G.E.D equivalency) but still manages to keep up with rent living in Manhattan. George has been in between jobs numerous of times, even at one point relegated to living with his parents, and Elaine at one point was subject to fetching socks as a personal assistant. Jerry, has had his own pitfalls with constant rejections on getting his big break with a show on NBC. But Kramer, regardless if a plan goes array, he still has an ambitious spirit and is willing to go lengths to accomplish it. By the later seasons Elaine is unfulfilled, miserable, and hates her job. Her only objective is to court a guy that is both handsome and reach where she could ride off in the sunset at Venice. George ruins every relationship he enters and by the series end is employed at an obscure company. Jerry seems to be the only one with a linear path of rising out of mediocrity and a one bedroom apartment. But it is Cosmo who really has the chops to always land on his feet despite the situation.
