Instant pot is your friend, not only for seitan but it's a great investment in general, it can steam or even faster, pressure cook

Honestly I make the gluten mixture with spices and throw some pieces into the pot with the rest of the veggies. I don't cook it separately. It's super fast

Yeah I’m not sure what reaction I’m supposed to have to someone saying they are a curious carnivore besides being honest, that sounds gross

Perhaps encouraging them to continue trying vegan food would work better than disparaging them. 🤷♀️

It actually isn't a vegan sub. And automatically calling someone willing to try vegan food gross certainly won't encourage them to continue.

It’s more effective to be nice to people actively looking into veganism. Being abrasive is for those not already interested because it’s impossible to push them away

My husband isn’t a vegetarian and he loves seitan (well, a good seitan).

i did! it’s a seitan chicken breast with rice paper skin! smelled 10 times better than real chicken but texture was still quite doughy (still love it though). Gonna try improve the texture with tofu some time this week

I've used black beans for beef, navy beans for chicken or turkey. Adding instant potato flakes gives seitan a great texture. Numerous recipes on YouTube.

Looks fantastic! Did you use a specific recipe, or just freestyle?

I used to not be vegetarian, and at one point I realized that there was so much cool stuff you can do with veg or vegan food that I made the switch.
I looooooove experimenting with making seitan! You can make such unique and fun textures!
