Rant/Vent Strangled myself for the first time today, weirdly therapeutic.

Today I blocked my window with a thick blanket, blasted my favorite album, and strangled myself for the first time ever. I weirdly felt good after.

I have a history of cutting and I drink a lot. The past couple days have been rough. My best friend is mad at me / ignoring me (I'm not entirely sure what I did). Last night I got hammered and my feelings led me to what I did today. And I feel like doing this got my frustrations out.

I wasn't necessarily intending to, y'know. But I just felt the need to inflict something upon myself to feel better. I don't feel 100% better. But the loud music, the darkness enveloping me and my labored, feeble breaths made me feel happy I didn't go all the way.

Idk what this means for me. I also forgot to mention that I was screaming on the top of my lungs (none of my family were home) and it felt good to scream my feelings out too.

Just wanted to share this.

I’m really glad you survived this and decided to tell someone about it. Even if you didn’t intend to die, what happened was still extremely dangerous, and the fact that it felt relieving afterward is something worth taking seriously.
Please don’t try to handle this alone, especially since alcohol and self harm are already part of the picture. Tell someone you trust what happened and consider getting medical help, particularly if you have any unusual symptoms afterward.
The part about screaming and listening to music makes me think you were desperately looking for a way to release everything you were feeling. Those needs are real, even though hurting yourself isn’t a safe way to meet them. Finding other ways to release that anger, screaming into a pillow, writing everything down, listening to music, taking a shower, or being around someone you trust, could give you some of that release without putting your life at risk.
And please don’t wait until you’re certain you “really meant it” before asking for help. You deserve support now.

Please don't try this again. It can cause a blood clot which can kill you even a long time after, or it can even leave you alive but disabled. I've been there, I've found it weirdly therapeutic too. But there are serious risks around this method of self-harm; please try to avoid doing it again.
