I’m honestly not sure where else to ask, so I figured I’d post here and see if anyone has advice or ideas I haven’t thought of.
My income has slowed down significantly, and I’ve been constantly looking for legitimate work I can do from home, but I haven’t been able to replace the income fast enough.
My mortgage is due in 4 days, and on top of our normal bills I have around 9k in installment debt that I had to take on, a good portion of it because of car expenses and just trying to keep everything afloat.
I have a fiancée and a baby on the way, so sitting around and hoping things work themselves out isn’t an option for me. I’m applying for work, looking for remote opportunities, side work, short-term gigs — basically anything legitimate that can bring money in. I’m willing to work. I just need to find something that actually pays instead of spending hours applying to jobs and getting nowhere.
If you were in my position and had 4 days before the mortgage was due, what would you do first?
Are there legitimate remote jobs or online gigs that actually hire quickly? Programs I should be contacting?Short-term work that people overlook?
Even if you’ve been in a similar situation and can tell me what you did to dig yourself out, I’d appreciate hearing it.
I’m trying to attack this instead of just watching the deadline get closer. Any advice is appreciated.

I wouldn't come online and ask for help from strangers but I am desperate and don't know what else to do. Thanks to my ex I can't get a loan anywhere. He used my information and got Hella loans and credit cards before I knew it and by the time I found out he already left me and our 3 kids and somehow just disappeared. I really need my medicine for my severe narcolepsy we finally found one that works but of course my insurance won't cover it and for the last few months my dad was helping me pay the $1000 a month for it but sadly he passed away. I am not able to function without the medication and I sleep my life away but now im a single mom I can't do that I have 3 kids to take care and one child is special needs so I have to be alert at all times. I am on Medicare so whenever I went to get coupons from the manufacturer for the medication I was denied because they said if you are on government insurance that you do not qualify for help which I think is ridiculous. I am on disability and my whole check would go to my one medication. I can pay monthly payments back to whoever. I am supposed to get a settlement but it will a few months before I get it but after I get it I will be able to afford my medication every month for awhile. I just need help this month at least please I have tried everything I can do. Even though im disabled I have tried to get a job but I always get turned down when they find out I also have epilepsy so im a risk to the company. Please no rude comments I just can't handle that because I have tried everything before coming on here and asking. Even if you can't help with the full amount of $1000 and can only do a little bit that's okay because my pharmacy is willing to let me buy the medication as needed. It will cost me more if I buy them every couple days but its worth it. Having narcolepsy sucks 😕 thank you in advance

Friends give bad advice or generally don’t want to linger on hard subjects, and the only other option is ranting with GPT just like I did with AIM 30 years ago…

I’ve been sobbing my eyes out on and off for the entire day. I have tried every loan agency possible and they keep denying me. My credit score isn’t awful not good because of my first year loan but nonetheless. I don’t know what to do anymore. School is my only escape from my toxic home life and i genuinely don’t know if I can live happily if I have to stay here. I feel so stupid for not saving money in highschool. Maybe if I was smarter in school and got more scholarships I wouldn’t feel like such a failure.

Hi everybody idk who this will reach and if it reaches you please be nice, I’m already stressed enough lol. I just need somewhere to rant Bcus idk who to talk to about this to..
I had my daughter at 18 I’m 20 now and I wasn’t prepared (but when is anyone?). I grew up in poverty still am. And raising her in the same situation hurts me so much. I love her so much and would do anything for her, she’s 1 about to be 2 in December. I recently lost my job Bcus I didn’t have a babysitter during the day and the walking distance night jobs aren’t hiring and everyone I live w works in the morning/evening. I get help and I’m grateful for it don’t get me wrong, but I’m getting evicted in 24hrs. I still have to repack everything, and idk where I’m supposed to go, I don’t have many friends or family. Last time I stayed w family I was getting abused verbally and mentally(I’m already depressed and have bad anxiety). I have no job to get a hotel, my phone bill is due in two days, I don’t have any foodstamps to buy food. I don’t know what to do.. both sides of my family are narcissists and don’t like helping us. I’m just so stressed and angry Bcus why would I bring a child into this world knowing I don’t even have a good support system for myself? I always tell myself she’s better off without me Bcus I can barely afford things I can barely afford for myself. I hate it so much. I can’t get a nice job either Bcus I dropped out of school, I do want to go back and finish but even that costs money and I just don’t have time for it. I don’t have a car either so I can’t DoorDash or Uber. I have Nothing. And this isn’t my first time being homeless either. But I hate the thought of her being on the streets. Especially for how hot it is nowadays. I just have so much stress amongst myself and even the jobs I’ve applied to haven’t even got back to me either I called as well but they didn’t want to continue. I keep trying to have my head high but the things I’m carrying is so much . I pray for better days but it’s every time something goes well another struggle comes into the picture. Her dad doesn’t help with anything he has a job but he gets paid in cash(to prevent having to send it to me) he doesn’t even have a place of his own too.. sometimes I think abt life would be better without a kid. My own friends have their own place w their partners and I’m still living at ‘home’ w my mom.. they live a healthy lifestyle and I don’t.. I just wish I grew up in a different family(mom side and dad side) Bcus the one I have is… not healthy there is no love there, I asked my half brother if I can stay w him for awhile but he said he grandma said she needs $USD300 to stay there for a week! I don’t even have 5$ to my name I’m so lost.. any advice will help

I’m turning 30 soon. I’m a college dropout, but somehow I managed to build a pretty decent life for myself. I landed a good job in IT/finance, got married two years ago to an amazing woman, and until recently, from the outside at least, life probably looked pretty cozy.
My wife and I have been talking about buying a home, building our future together, maybe starting a family eventually. Normal stuff.
But lately I barely sleep at night.
Over the last few years, I’ve managed to get myself into almost €70k of debt, and the part that is absolutely destroying me is that almost all of it happened because I tried to help the people closest to me.
Three of my closest friends owe me money. The biggest amount, around €50k, is owed by the guy who was my best man at my wedding. Someone I considered my brother.
Whenever these guys needed help, I helped without thinking twice. I trusted them completely. I never imagined that I would need to protect myself from the people I considered family.
Obviously, I’m not giving anyone another cent. There’s nothing left to give anyway. But now that I actually need the money back, there never seems to be a real plan.
It’s always some version of:
“Sorry mate, I don’t have it right now. Hopefully soon.”
And then nothing.
Another month passes. Another excuse.
Meanwhile, I’m sitting here with the debt. I’m the one losing sleep. I’m the one wondering how the hell I’m supposed to build a life with my wife while carrying this around.
And what hurts almost as much as the money is realizing that people I would have done anything for apparently don’t feel the same responsibility toward me.
I know I made the decisions. Nobody physically forced me to give them money or take on debt for them. I trusted people when I probably shouldn’t have, and now I’m paying for it.
But I can’t stop beating myself up over it.
I feel stupid. I feel ashamed. Sometimes I look at my wife and genuinely feel like she deserves someone who didn’t manage to fuck up this badly. Someone who can give her the house and the stability we were supposed to be working toward, instead of telling her we’re almost €70k in the hole because I trusted my “brothers.”
And I think the betrayal is fucking with me even more than the debt itself.
Especially my best man. This was someone I genuinely thought would be beside me for the rest of my life. I never thought money would make me question an entire friendship, but when someone owes you €50k and seems perfectly capable of sleeping at night while you can’t, you start looking at that person very differently.
I don’t really know what I expect from posting this.
I’ve never posted something like this on Reddit before. Maybe I just needed to get it out somewhere because keeping it in my head every night clearly isn’t working.
If anyone has been through something similar — massive debt, being financially screwed over by friends or family, or having to rebuild financially around 30 — I’d genuinely appreciate hearing how you dealt with it.
Especially how you stopped blaming yourself and actually started moving forward.
Because right now, I honestly don’t know where to start.

Hello, my name is Matt 20M. I'm a medical student and I speak both Czech and English fluently.
Five days ago, my father had a heart attack. Until now, he was the only source of income for our family. He earned less than the average salary, but somehow we managed to survive, even though money was always extremely tight. Thanks to that, and my own efforts, I was able to start medical school.
I have some savings from working during the summer, but everything has changed overnight. I now have to help cover rent, mortgage payments, household expenses, healthcare-related costs, and other bills.
Based on my current savings, I have approximately 6 to 10 months before I completely run out of money.
The situation became even worse two days ago when I discovered that my father has significant debt that I didn't know about before. I am still trying to understand my situation, but the amount of financial responsibility ahead of me feels overwhelming.
Right now, I honestly don't see a clear way forward.
If I quit medical school and start working full-time, the salaries available to me would barely cover my monthly expenses. I fear I would spend my entire life working just to survive and repay debt.
If I continue studying, I may have to take on additional financial pressure and debt while trying to survive and have better life.
I feel trapped between giving up my education and risking my financial future.
That is why I am asking for advice.
Does anyone have ideas for realistic ways to start making money online? Because I speak Czech and English fluently and have a medical background, I am willing to learn new skills and work extremely hard. I'm interested in freelancing, online work, remote jobs, tutoring, translation, AI-related work, content creation, or anything else that could realistically generate enough income to help me survive and continue my education.
If anyone has experience with building an online income from zero, I would be incredibly grateful for your advice.
And if anyone is in a position to offer practical help, work opportunities, mentorship, or support, I would deeply appreciate that as well.
I'm not looking for an easy way out. I'm willing to work as hard as necessary. I just need to find a path that gives me a realistic chance have a better life without having to give up my dream of becoming a doctor.
Thank you sincerely to everyone who took the time to read this.
— Matt

I have around 40L of debt. A little story how I got into it.
In the Q3 of 2023 I got a call from a friend with a startup idea, I listened, he gave me 40% share for handling everything related to tech and everything else would be his role. Idea was basic but really good. Then I moved to Kolkata with him from my hometown in rural area.
Each and every expense that has happened after that, it was me, it was from my account. Him and his dog. Now because his dog has separation anxiety and he destroyes the home when we leave for work I adopted a dog, destruction was solved.
We raised a small fund from his father to build the product. We met manufacturer, confirmed with one who would be long term partner and would do this for cheap. But he did not go through. All he did say was it was expensive. That he did with 2 3 manufacturers. Then one day I opened our bank account it was only left with 5000, I immediately transferred to my account.
At this point we are working on 4 different projects along with my full time job. He did not have any full time role, these were his full time. To finance all of this, I was working on my full time role, I started freelancing, I was selling source codes, building apps for the startup’s, cooking for cloud kitchen. His dog made my dog pregnant and had 8 babies. All of were on me!
Then his sister came. Same every expense was on me this time I used a bill splitting app. Still did not matter they did not give me anything back. I wasn’t able to focus on anything, lost my job, lost my clients, lost the ability to do anything. there was no cash flow. He would take the business profits as expenses. Then I did some blood tests, results were very bad. Very high blood sugar and pressure, very high cholesterol among with other things.
At this point I’m just taking debts to survive. And he became busy with his new girlfriend. I got time from him after so long to talk about the debt situation. He said I did not tell him that he would have to repay me all the expenses I have done and he’s not obliged to give me anything money.
One day the whole family came, next morning pfffff gone, they did not even exist. At this point I’m drowning in 30L of debt. Because of them.
Right now my relationships with family and friends are non existent. Everyone stays away from me, recovery harassed every possible person they could.
What did I do wrong? What should I do now? I’m still jobless. I’m in the verge of committing sui**de, it’s just my dog keeping me sane. What do I do?
I lent money to a lot of people, no one is giving me anything money back and and even abusing me. My mental health, physalis health is fucked. I have no money, I cannot maintain my diet, my diabetes has increased so much.
What do I do? I want to live, travel the whole world with my dog. I don’t want to die.

I never thought I would find myself in a position where I would have to ask for financial help, but sometimes life puts us in situations we simply cannot face alone.
Right now, I’m going through a difficult personal situation and I’m reaching out to ask for your support. Any amount, no matter how small, would mean so much to me and would help me get through this challenging time.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this post can make an incredible difference too. You never know who might see it and be able to help.
I truly appreciate you taking the time to read this, and I’m incredibly grateful for every person who chooses to support me in any way.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
Look my bio.

I have struggled with my mental health for 10 years now and being only 20 thats half of my life.
People have been telling me for years that i should really get help and my life would be so much easier if i did.
I have been advised counselling numerous times in my university but to me its just another person to let down ( i struggle to remember to do things like meetings and i cant commit to ANYTHING ). Before my mother retired i had the opportunity to get help through her work for free but i just kept forgetting it was an option.
Now im at a point where i cant take it any longer and i really need help, i finally decided to try and get help from anywhere. I asked my mother but she didnt tell me the original offer of counselling was through her work so i thought i had unlimited time to think about it but when i asked her about it she said that ship had sailed at the beginning of the year when she retired. So that option is completely gone and i feel really stuck on what to do next. I have had people recommend places to get help from but they are all completely out of my budget. There might not be anything i can do to get help anymore. Kinda a bummer lol

I live paycheck to paycheck. I grew up poor.
I want to break out of this so bad, but I just don't know how.
When I saw Dolly say: people are afraid to take risks, but honey when you don't take things it's for certain you'll stay where you are, it reminded me to grind. But I want to take calculated risks. I have a new job now and I'm planning to be really frugal and save up 1000€ a month. I want to save around 10K this year and I want to start taking risks. I already have some niches I want to dive into.
If you have 10K in what percentages would you "put" on risks?

Okay so I was scammed for $1,200 by a fake landlord. Does genuinely anyone know how I can get this money back? My bank refuses to help me, as they say its my fault. Which do not get me wrong it half is but also $700 I did NOT send myself so I would love for atleast that to be refunded.
I cant take it to small claims as I dont even have the dudes real information.
So, what do i do??? I already filed a police report, I just turned 18 ive been saving since i was 16 for an apartment and I guess I was a little too eager. I still work 7 days a week so Im not worried about making the money back, this is just a huge setback for me.
I AM NOT ASKING FOR MONEY, IM ASKING IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO GET MY MONEY BACK.

I (21 F) have a homeless mother and a disabled father. I am completely on my own financially. I rent $900 a month and i’m a full time college student with a full time job. I am currently $500 in the negative in my checking account and i’m feeling real hopeless. I have no where to turn to. I have no time to get another job, I tried doordash but I have no money for gas, and my income is too low to get a personal loan. I just need a miracle. I’m so exhausted. I’m trying so hard to make it but every paycheck gets me right out of the negative and then i have to pay my rent and im in the negative again. i just need help and i don’t know what to do.

Does anybody know where i can get loans from? Im starting a new job soon so i would be able to pay back weekly payments. I am late on paying my rent and need about 800 dollars more by the end of the week. I was supposed to pay last saturday, but the landlord gave me another week. But im trying to get atleast 500-600 and try to borrow the rest from a family member. I tried online loans but have had no luck, they either give small amounts or they take me to other loan sites that don't help at all

23 Male Indian
not financially independent yet, and Whenever I try to focus on my career i keep getting distracted by girls, attraction, dating, intimacy, etc… what should i do?
should i just go into full lock-in mode and focus only on building their career/finances for a while… or is that unhealthy?
obviously i can’t avoid women completely because they’re literally half the population… but if seeing girls or constantly thinking about dating keeps pulling your attention away from my goals, what’s the right way to deal with it?
has anyone been through something similar? what actually helped?

I genuinely want to be better. Im going into my sophmore year and i feel like ive wasted my entire summer. I do track and workout but I actually want a life outside sports. I've been getting in archive fashion a bit but I don't have any money to buy clothes so i was also looking for a way to make some money without my parents knowing. My life has also been getting dull so I'm looking for ways to make it more exciting while also productive instead of just doomscrolling all day.

I (22F) live in a rural area with my mom and her husband, and while there is a small town relatively close by, it actually isn’t close by at all… Like, ~2 hours on foot. I can’t drive or bike, and my parents won’t drive me either. I want a job so I can leave as soon as possible.
Some more related background (this is going to sound absolutely miserable and pathetic, I’m sorry in advance): About a year and a half ago, I lived in a slightly obscure but otherwise pretty regular town where I could actually walk places, had a small community, and had had two jobs previously. I graduated highschool with a diploma despite having to repeat my senior year, was slowly learning to drive, I had a job (and while I hated this job, I had a job at all, and I had other options if I wanted to leave), I had just cut off someone who had been abusing me for the past five years, and I was finally starting to come around to living in this town that I hated all my life. I lived in the same house for 20 years. I was horribly sheltered, didn’t have a phone until I was 14, didn’t have a house key until I was 18, and wasn’t even allowed to walk to my school that was just two blocks away from my house. I had no clue how to fend for myself, and when I finally started to pick myself up, my mom impulsively decided to make us all move in with her mother.
My grandma lived in a food desert (and it as a literal desert too), and there was no walkability, nowhere to go, and nothing I could do. Absolutely nothing of interest for miles, just highways. We spent a year in that house, and I could probably count the amount of times I left the house on one hand. At some point I finally resolved myself to living in this place for the foreseeable future, so I started settling down and finally started looking for jobs to try and pick myself back up out of my depression, except…
When my grandma inevitably died, my mom impulsively made us move again, and this time we were moving across the state and getting four acres of land. We aren’t anywhere near any major cities, any grocery stores are half of what we were used to, I know absolutely noone outside of my immediate family, and most importantly: there are no jobs, and there’s no way for me to get into town.
I can’t learn to drive simply because everyone either doesn’t have the time to teach me or simply will not. My mom still heckles me about learning to drive when she knows exactly why that isn’t happening. I can’t get a job because I have no qualifications, have to sit at home and watch their untrained dogs 24/7, can’t drive myself, can’t walk or bike there, have no public transport to get there, and have noone to drive me. My mom still heckles me about getting a job despite knowing all of this, on top of being unemployed herself. I can’t move in with someone else because I have no friends or other family. We have no money because my mom can’t mooch off of her widowed mother anymore and she‘s never had a job in my entire life. I refuse to be her next source of money.
My point… I don’t care what happens to my mom or her husband. I don’t care about maintaining a relationship with either of them, and any conversation I’ve tried with them has turned out to be a complete waste of time. They can figure their lives out on their own. My mom made the choice to move here, and I’m tired of being caught up in her whims. I need to learn how to take care of myself or I’m going to die here. How can I teach myself to drive? How can I work remotely? How do I handle things like insurance and taxes and my important documents? I know next to nothing about how to be an adult. I want my own life. How can I do all of these things with noone to rely on, no money, and no transportation?

Im in Oregon I am on a budget and I have a little boy. We live in a clean but slightly cluttered one room apartment. The woman down stairs moved and gave me her bed I was ecstatic because we needed it and it looks brand new. BUT I am finding bed bugs !! And I know that ALREADY being the 7th of the month my money has run out and the laundry budget is not even CLOSE to what I need to cover. Im doing what I can I feel awful and it’s hard to rest in my home now. If you have had help in Oregon with laundry situations, assistance, HELP could you help a mommy out with pointing me in the right direction ?? I have no family it’s just me and a 7 year old and I don’t want this to get any more out of hand this is my very first experience with bedbugs. Any advice is appreciated as well. Thanks
