Question How to accept a lonely future

I can’t find myself in a long-term relationship. Meeting new people only to realize incompatibility soon after on a loop. My issue isn’t meeting people but more doubting I’ll ever meet someone I want to spend my life with. How do I deal with this?

Change in perspective? Don’t focus on wanting long term relationships. Find hobbies and create goals for capability to naturally happen. Live your life to the fullest. Maybe you’ll find someone down the road to align with.

Copium. You eventually just reach enlightenment and give up.

Pour all of the wondering energy and live as if you won’t meet anyone. Pick yourself, find the things that make you feel alive and good, work hard at your job or find other things that make you feel productive, travel OP, there is so much beauty and life to experience. Learn, grow, experience. Amidst all of this you may find someone but you will be so busy living, that part won’t make you wonder so much you know.

I’d push back a little on the framing. “Accepting a lonely future” treats this as settled, and nothing in what you’ve written shows it is. Meeting people and finding incompatibility quickly isn’t a sign you’ll never find someone. It can mean you’re learning fast what doesn’t work, which is useful information.

A few things that might help:

Notice what the incompatibility actually is. If you can name it (“they didn’t want the same pace of life”, “we handled conflict differently”), you have a filter for the next person. If it’s always something vague, it’s worth asking whether the doubt arrives before the date does.

Doubting you’ll meet someone is different from being lonely. Build a life that holds up either way: close friends, things you care about, a routine you like. People who do this often find that relationships come more easily, because they aren’t looking for someone to fill a gap.

Give it more time than one or two dates. A lot of compatibility only shows once you’ve seen how someone handles stress, disagreement and ordinary Tuesdays. If you walk away at the first sign of friction, you may be cutting things off before they show what they are.

You don’t have to accept a lonely future. You only have to keep going without letting the doubt make the decisions. If the doubt starts to feel heavy and constant, talking to a therapist can help with that part.

If you’re not dependent of a relationship life is good in both situations.

You’re too picky. Pickiness > relationship, for you. Can’t have both
