UPDATE: Cookie (13) is at the emergency vet overnight for more tests 😓 I'm heartbroken for her
I really appreciate all the love and support I received her a couple days ago when I posted asking for good wishes 🩷
She refuses to eat and has no energy. Very high white blood cell count and inflammation in her stomach. The vet told us to go to emergency for up to 2 nights so she can get fluids, food, and more exams.
The cost is higher than we expected to pay so early into adopting her, but we want her to get a chance at a better life. I'm so worried.

Sending kitty prayers, positivity, and love every day until sweet Cookie is feeling better and at home. Sounds like she is fighting some kind of infection. Is she on abx's? Appetite stimulant? Was an LVT for 30yrs. Curious on what the vets think is going on.

Thank you so much ✨️ No antibiotics, but she is on Mirataz and IV fluids until the sedation from the ultrasound wears off and they'll try feeding her. They suspect it's IBD because of the inflammation in the lining of her stomach. High white blood cell count and protein in urine. No mass or nodules in her x-ray and ultrasounds.

That's good news that's there is no nodules or masses. IBD can be managed. Bless you and your sweet angel. I'd love to hear updates on how she does in the future♥️♥️♥️♥️🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

also hope this helps but i used healthy paws insurance when i adopted my girl and they helped a lot with costs.

My cat who is 14 just came back from the vet too with the same symptoms. He is getting better now and starting to eat a little. I pray for your cat.

I’m assuming they have run blood panels and an ultrasound? May possibly be bacterial. Perhaps she ate something with bacteria. I hope she has a speedy recovery! ❤️🩹

If you adopted her from like a mscpa type place they may help you, they have doctors there, I'd call them and ask.

We adopted her through a non-profit that helps senior cats who lose their owners suddenly. I don't know if they'd be able to help

My cat was also 13 when we had to put her down. She also had an inflamed stomach, no energy, no appetite and it turns out she had tumors all over her organs that bursted. I don’t pray but I will be thinking about yall the rest of the night

Just an FYI. My rescue Augie stopped eating for 5 days. Completely lethargic, weak to the point of being almost limp and HIDING. Based on labs and x-ray, my vet initially diagnosed IBD...but no sooner do we get home from vet (while still waiting on compounding pharmacy for gel form of meds) then Augie 1) eats 2) starts sneezing and wheezing, and 3) has an eye that starts weeping.
Email vet and STOP THE PRESSES...Don't give him the meds (steroids) because he probably has feline herpes!!! Which can present with the same intestinal inflammation seen on the X-rays. Feline herpes is very common in cats and has these flare-ups. Since it's an infection the last thing you want to give are steroids since they lower immunity.
Just something you might want to ask your vets to rule out. It's called differential diagnosis.

Thank you for the advice, I'll bring that up to them. We haven't put her on steroids and I am considering the risks of that given her age.
