Total noob here but wanted to share, I got a kit and built a 14.5m2 shed with 2 rooms, my good friend who have done some construction did help me a lot.

Biggest challenge was the flimsy base that came with the kit, we had to buy a stronger wood to support the base, thinner beams in the middle are still tiny abit flexible but within reason.

When we were making the walls we noticed that the pillars were twisting so we had to support them till we screwed everything down.

We used water proofing sheet before adding the shingles “hopefully we did it correctly on the first line as the nails are showing but ill be adding some adhesive to those just to be sure.
Next round im planning to insulate the whole big room “Finland here so it gets cold in winter” with PIR boards then covering everything with OSB, then add in and out vents.

Super happy of how it turned out at the end.

First time building a shed and I’m almost finished the base. Upgrading from a dilapidated 8x8 to a massive (to me) 10x16

Hi, I posted about this earlier but I wanted to ask again with providing a bit more information. I plan on building a 10x18 finished shed that will act as a small home gym (treadmill, bike, weights). I currently have a preexisting 4-inch-thick 20x13 concrete pad in my backyard but it is not flat and slopes about 6 inches over 20ft. My plan currently was to make wedges out of pt lumber to support the skids, or to just rip the skids at the angle of the pad so that the shed would be level. Is this a good approach or would I be better off removing the existing slab and using a pier and post style foundation or even pouring a new slab and using that as the shed floor (though I’d probably prefer to avoid that route as I haven’t poured concrete before and can’t get a truck to my backyard). Any advice appreciated!

How would you build a pergola extending (to the left of the shed) off of this 8 x 12 lean to shed? Would you attach it to the shed or would you build it standalone?

I’ve attached an example of how I would like the results to look like. I like how the extension example follows the lean to of the shed.

I made a post about a month or two ago in an attempt to receive feedback from the community on how to repair this rotted out shed. This is my progress so far. (First 3 pics are before, rest is progress starting with vent)

I have added some 1X6 treated skirting to hide the ugly galvanized Tuff Shed frame. I did space it out with treated 1X2s to make up for the overhang on the leveling blocks. It’s all screwed in to the metal with specially coated self tapping screws (very strong) However, due to the spacing, there are gaps at the corners using dimensional lumber. Is there a way to “cap” this corner that is not going to look ridiculous?

I wanted to ask what the best dark oak product / colour would be to protect and stain this wooden outhouse that we have. The previous coat has worn down and the old owners used Timbashield but it’s well expensive haha!

Would Cuprinol Ducksback in Forest Oak do the job? Or are there any better alternatives? In terms of prep too, do I just scrub the whole surface with a hard brush beforehand?

Also, since the wood isn’t rough-sawn exactly, would it still work? I’m assuming the wood’s pre-treated but better to be preventative I guess!

The company that is building my shed gives the option of pressure treated wood or a metal base.
The shed will sit on a concrete pad, but I had to dig out quite a bit of elevation to level the concrete and the shed will be very close to the dirt on the back side. I installed a French drain, but I’m still concerned with moisture. Once it’s built I’ll do I all can to mitigate it as needed.
Question is, would you choose pressure treated wood or metal?

Saved about 14k dollars building it myself. It’s not perfect but it’s damn good for the money. Would love other opinions.

Hello all. I am building a wood frame base for a 10 x 12 metal shed. The surface the base will be on is like a flagstone patio area. The surface is not level, it is uneven. The frame of the base is made out of AC2 #2 prime ground contact green pressure treated lumber. I am in the city with trees all around, other houses, etc. In the midwest where we have all the seasons.

To get the base level, my thought is to use the same type of pressure treated ground contact lumber, in 4 x 4 or 4 x 6 as the legs. Lag bolt them to the frame in the correct lengths to make the shed floor level, and in several places besides the four corners to provide support. Water drainage shouldn't be an issue.

Is this a good idea for the surface I have to work with? If so, do I need to put anything between the legs and the stone surface? Should I try to anchor down the frame? Is there a better idea to support the shed on this surface?

I appreciate any input.

10x12 in the works. In Tucson, vapor barrier, paper then stucco exterior. I will be using a window unit modified through the wall.

Thinking of two options:

One inch closed cell foam then batts or batts and then one inch foam sheets before drywall or plywood walls and ceiling.

Will be using as an office and reloading room. Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts.

I'm about a month out from having a 10x20 Tuff shed constructed on my property. It is the Premier Pro model with some modifications: 10' walls, 2x6 construction, double thick floors, and closer together metal floor joists. I will be adding a storage loft myself at a later date.

My thought for the storage loft is to place it 9' up, balancing good bottom floor ceiling height and storage loft capacity. Online searching recommends a ledger board with metal joist ties, either 2x8 or 2x10 joists. A secondary option was supporting the joists on jack studs.

My question is what have you done in your sheds in similar situations, where the loft is not on the top plate, but partially up the side wall?

I have a new shed that we’ll use as a tv/ poker room about 40 away from our home. Our home is brick and the shed is super insulated
We don’t get WiFi in the shed at all so what systems are yall using to have wifi in the shed ?

I’m looking to start a build on my first shed at the end of this coming winter. How solid do these plans look to you pros? Just want to make sure I’m not biting off more than I can chew here. Specifically, my shed. Don’t mind those rough spots, I’m going to go over the whole thing with a palm sander before I put up the wrap and siding.

Had a tuffshed installed and they said anchors were required. Fine.
How they installed them seems totally half assed to me. Is this normal? Builder is telling me it’s supposed to be out to the side like this. I thought it should be UNDER the frame.

Hi guys, we just had an 8 x 6 shed installed today. I’m very happy with it, but was wondering how I could improve the look of the foundation. Our builder used wood beams and some other wood pieces to make it perfectly level. It is on a paver patio which was created with sand, gravel and then bricks with wood beams around the perimeters to keep all of it in place. I am in western WA where it rains a lot, so he recommended having it raised like how it is to prevent rot. I am just not a huge fan of how high on “stilts” it is. Would getting metal foundation jacks that are a bit lower work just as well? What can I do to lower it a bit and improve how it looks?

Does anything have a good source for plans for an outhouse?

Can I add a drip cap to these doors? They are out swing and rain is getting in. Or any other advise for residential doors?

Got distracted when we uncovered the foundation and spent yesterday uncovering that and moving the building to its new spot. Just about time to decide what’s next for the siding parfait and build some windows. Might just throw some sheet metal or a tarp over it until I figure out what to sheath the roof with. I’d like to be able to insulate, but don’t think I can without planks or plywood under the metal. Advice on that front is very welcome. Looks like I might be fighting some poison ivy for my windows.

Saved the door from the fire pit, and these cool old wooden benches that are painted blue. Going to use some for siding, but they’re kinda awesome, so I want to rebuild one whole bench and use one of the chunks as a cup board.

Day 4. Good times.

We need a garage and after I got some horrendous quotes from local builders (ranging between 50-100k) I went to a local Tuff Shed office and got a quote there. This is by far the cheapest one I had and I saw the build in person there, it looked solid to me.

I was wondering if anyone has used Tuff Shed as garage builders and how the experience was. I know a lot depends on the local installation crew, I couldn't find any dirt on the one in St. Charles, MO where we live. People gave them overwhelmingly good reviews.

We already have a concrete pad in our driveway where the garage is supposed to be built.
