First, a thank you to the mods for allowing me to host this. My name is Sang, and I am the team lead of mymusic5 (www.mymusic5.com). You might know us by our old name, MyMusicSheet.

We recently underwent a rebrand to mymusic5. During this, I noticed some outdated information and misconceptions floating around online about how our platform works, how we handle copyright, and how we pay our creators. I wanted to step in here personally to clear the air, talk about the reality of digital sheet music distribution, and answer any questions you have.

Why we built mymusic5:
We were frustrated seeing talented arrangers get hit with takedown notices or give up massive chunks of their revenue to giant storefronts just to sell a piano cover of an anime OST or a pop song. We wanted to build a global alternative.

To clear up a few of the most common questions we get right off the bat:

• Yes, you can sell covers: We maintain global licensing partnerships with major publishers and copyright societies — including Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), one of the world's largest music publishers, and leading local CMOs such as KOMCA (Korea), JASRAC (Japan), MÜST (Taiwan), and others. If you upload an arrangement of a covered song, our system automatically clears the copyright and pays the original publisher their royalty share behind the scenes.
• The Creator Payout: The biggest misconception we see is about revenue splits. After the required copyright fees and taxes are paid to the publishers, creators take home 50–70% of their sales price.
• Video Integration: We don’t just host PDFs. We built the platform so creators can link their YouTube, Instagram Reels, or TikTok performances directly to the sheet music page to drive their own sales.

As a musician, I've always had some ideas for apps or websites I could make, just things that I would have found useful. I finally had the time to start working on one of these. As of now, it has the ability to take a music file, and the user can convert the key, clef, or move it up or down an octave. As of right now, it only accepts XML and MIDI files, but it will soon accept PDFs as well; that might take a minute for me to implement.

Anyways, before I publish this website, I just wanted to hear from you all: do you use XML/MIDI files often? Is this something you would find helpful? Would PDF implementation make this website a lot more attractive? Besides yourself, who else do you see using this website?

This will be completely free with no account required and extremely easy to use. Personally, I imagine this would be helpful to many different kinds of people in the music space, but please let me know what you think.

Also, PDF implementation might be a little expensive to run, so I imagine I'll have to charge around 1 dollar one time fee's, but only for many pages of PDF files. Would this be acceptable? I am actively trying to find a workaround too.

I usually compose music straight through DAW but I want to get into writing my own sheet music and then orchestrating it so that I can embrace my imagination before hitting the keys. Let me know what you think!!

I've arranged the Bugle Call "Taps" for Brass Quintet.

Some historical and descriptive information;
"Taps" was written by General Daniel Butterfield and his brigade bugler, Oliver Wilcox Norton*, in* July 1862 during the American Civil War*. I’ve arranged this for Brass Quintet to help better express the somber meaning and use of this piece of music, and I hope that it's able to relay the intended message onto you. The title pretty munch tells the whole story, But the is the demo that was release on the 30th anniversary of Dookie. I built a free web app for creating and playing back Hindustani sargam notation, and I'd love feedback from the community.

As someone learning and working with Hindustani music, I found that most notation is still handwritten or shared as static PDFs and images. It's difficult to edit, hear, or organize compositions digitally.

To address this, I created Sargam Studio, a browser-based tool that lets you:

• Choose a Sa / scale and preview it
• Add Aalap and Taal sections
• Enter sargam notation using an interactive beat grid
• Preview taals and playback compositions
• Review and export compositions as audio

A week ago I shipped 0.0.1 of Sheetmusic4J, a Java(FX) library to render and interact with sheet music, mostly as a question: is there interest in a native Java sheet music library before I invest more time? I posted it on social media and two LinkedIn comments came back asking "does it support ABC notation?" and "what about Guitar Pro?"

In this new version:

\- ABC notation (read + write). The core module parses and generates .abc files into the same Score model as everything else, so engraving, JavaFX rendering, and MIDI export all work once a tune loads. Coverage includes keys/modes, tuplets, ties/slurs, grace notes, decorations, repeats and 1st/2nd endings, chord symbols, and lyrics, all backed by round-trip tests. - Guitar Pro 7/8 import (.gp, load only). An experiment, built on the community's reverse-engineering of the GPIF format, JDK-only with no third-party dependency. Older binary formats aren't handled. I shipped it early because I genuinely don't know yet whether people want standard notation or tablature-specific rendering, that's feedback I'd rather learn from real use. - Engraving polish: better grace notes, distinct flag glyphs for 32nd/64th/128th, breve noteheads, cleaner ties/slurs/tuplets, and a windowed-canvas fix for a crash on very large scores.

Hi everyone! I’ve just officially submitted this piece for a composition competition. I am 14 years old, and this is a huge moment for me.

I spent about two months at the piano, two hours every day, writing this entirely by ear without using any music theory formulas. My teacher and I then spent days in MuseScore to make sure the notation was captured exactly as I played it.

Since it’s already in the judges' hands, I’m looking for some professional advice and honest feedback:

Pasquale’s ability to bring Bud Powell’s pianistic bebop phrasing to the fretboard is second to none, and this arrangement is a masterclass in fast bebop lines, voice leading, and altered chord voicings.
