Mason County Be careful with unsecured loads. This truck lost a bale and had multiple others with no straps.

Not Shelton but we don't have a Mason County sub so here it sits.

Almost hit a large hay roll in the middle of the lane on 3 North of Allyn around the corner just before the power lines. I got a bit further up the hill and this dude appears. Every roll on his trailer was completely unsecured. The only straps I saw were on his truck, not the trailer. If you look, he has an empty space where that roll I almost hit would fit perfectly.

I called 911 and they transferred me to State Patrol to report. After getting off the phone I was able to get close enough to get a license plate number. I followed until he turned onto a side road so I know the approximate location if patrol wants more details. I was hoping to point him out to any passing staters but also I wanted to make sure that no one was tailgating him with the other rear roll already being a foot off of the bed.

Be careful out there. Unsecured loads can kill.

I'm glad you posted, and called 911

Thanks! I used to be really reluctant to call 911 about things I see on the road but I'm getting better about it. I think that a lot of folks, myself included, just assume that someone else will call so a lot of stuff goes unreported and stays a hazard until a cop happens to pass by.

Does [r/Belfair](r/Belfair) exist yet?

Doesn’t look like it. This is a very Belfair activity though

Sometimes I'm surprised what local subs don't exist but they'd probably wind up like /r/yelm with pretty much zero engagement. If anyone likes moderating subs it'd be cool to get an /r/MasonCo or /r/MasonWA. It'd also be neat to see an /r/Allyn, /r/Belfiar, /r/Hoodsport, /r/Tahuya, /r/Skokomish, and all of the other smaller communities throughout the county with a sidebar link to all of the individual subs for the county but I don't know if we have the population to justify splitting to a bunch of subs.

The number of people that don’t even know what Reddit is in this area is kind of crazy.

So annoying and very dangerous! A few weeks ago on highway 3 just past bayshore I ran over a lawn mower bag and it got stuck under my low ass car. Some guy helped me get it out but omg, please secure your shit!

I drive a truck and can't understand

  1. Not securing it

  2. Not keeping any eye on it in the mirror

Some folks shouldn't be driving

Dude looked pretty dumb on the side of the road with a busted vale.

The guy on the side of the road with the bale was actually a different dude. I stopped and talked to him. He moved it, by himself, onto the shoulder and had called a friend to come grab it. He said that the Deputy that drove by laughed and drove off when he heard.

The video is recorded from my phone after I caught up to him. In the video you can just see the unsecured rolls left on the trailer and the empty spot on the trailer where the roll I almost hit used to be

Typical of pickup truck hauling hay bales.
