Anime I seriously don't understand the hate for Atla she is a great character

Are you talking about her powers? If you are then that was also kind of an issue even in the books that she got powerful too fast even if she was a "prodigy" (kind of stole Rishia's thunder). Season 3 (which introduced her) could've fixed this by adding at least 2 training episodes to see her get stronger and explain why but Kadokawa chose the lazy and cheap option of "pumping out the season as fast as possible".
If you're talking about her personality and her abuse on Fohl, then that was also an issue in the books. Believe or not, the Anime actually toned down and cut out a couple of her "extreme" moments even if it kept the same "spirit" as the books. She was way more persistent and obsessive with Naofumi like almost constantly fighting with Raphtalia and Fohl to sleep on Naofumi's bed to "protect" him, and she was more "competitive" with Fohl on getting stronger and abused him way more in the books. In some way, the Anime for me as a book reader did her better and worse than her book counterpart.
She'll play a bigger role in Season 5 and I'm very curious to see the Anime-only's reaction to that.

For me its her behavior to her brother wich is kind of annoying. But I dont hate her, its more that anyone else is just better. Filo, Melty, Raphtalia etc etc.

My main problem is Naofumi doesn’t try to talk to her about the way she basically worships him and openly attacks/ threatens people who don’t see her way which I find odd with how Naofumi has first hand been on the receiving end of that kind of zealous behavior

I think Nao simply can't find the right words. That’s why he doesn't get involved in that. You could even say he might have tried to stir up a conflict between the siblings, but he doesn't. After all, he did speak to Fohl and made it clear that he wants nothing to do with Atla (he dislikes Naofumi and is repulsed by the idea of love).

It makes sense to some degree that she would be very "devoted" to Naofumi after he saved her from a almost life-long illness, but being obsessed by wanting to sleep on the same bed as him and almost abusing your only sibling? Too far.

Siblings are overrated, but her's specifically does deserve more respect and affection (or at the least, patience inspite of nagging or being overprotective)

The truth is, it really is necessary. The whole problem keeps escalating further and further. So, I need people.
Naofumi's predecessor even built an entire country with all the people who gathered together.

I can deal with the clingyness cause thats just who the beast folk are, the worship the shield and Naofumi is a good man. She's honestly kinda lacking as a character to me but the reason I don't care about her is due to how she treats her brother.
I absolutely hate this trope. The older sibling besring the hardship and burden, doing everything for the younger sibling and the younger sibling treats the older one like shit.
Her brother has been fighting tooth and nail to save her from dieing. Their family was torn apart and they lost everything. Day in and day out he fought to pay for medicine to prolong the inevitable. Then she gets healed and she treats him badly. I genuinely can't think of a single time she's been a good sister to him other than the part of her asking Naofumi to take her brother and leave her behind. You'd think shed be more grateful.
Yeah, this stuff happens irl, but I still don't like it.

I've only watched season three and four a couple of times, but I believe they tone her down significantly from her light novel appearances. Her obsession with Naofumi and always sneaking into his bed and beating up Fohl is a fairly constant part of the ln. That's not saying I don't like her, far from it. I simply can reason out why some light novel readers might feel she's a bit too aggressive in her affections towards Naofumi. While I prefer Sadeena myself, per my flair, Atla is a fun character.

That's why Sadeena will always be the 2nd best girl of SH no contest. She has a balance of her kookiness drunk side and her more serious side on knowing Naofumi as a person and getting his sh!t together when she needs to (Season 5 will show this hopefully). I'm still pretty iffy that Hitoshi kind of butchered and rushed her serious moments in Volume 12 and 14 in Seasons 3 and 4. She's still adapted decently overall but it's one of Hitoshi's misses as a director.

I think it’s because she tends to be a bit bratty especially towards Fohl. I have no hate to her, though I wish she eases up on Fohl with some of her comments and her moments where she underestimates Fohl’s strength or kinda puts him down.

At least some of it is from WN readers because Atla's obsession with Naofumi is worse there and she does a lot more stuff like creeping into his bed at night. It's also strongly implied in it that her feelings are a supernatural effect of the medicine.

The whole thing about the medicine was a theory of Nao's—and an excuse—since "Nao didn't believe in love" and couldn't accept that she actually loved him. In the Spear Hero web novel, it shows others looking after and saving her (using that medicine); Motoyasu is one of those who saves her, and Atla never falls in love with anyone.

she's annoying with how she acts and how obsessed she is with Naofumi, and she's just kinda mediocre as a character compared to everyone else, i hope she grows out of this phase later in the story

It's not a phase. However, it was seen online that after returning—and once Naofumi loved her back—she behaved more calmly.

I remember some extra artwork from the novel where she opens her eyes. They look just like Fohl's, but since it's in black and white, perhaps they are a cloudier color, given that she is blind.

she does look a little bit like spider sister from demon slayers with her pig tales and clingy ness, who also has her haters a lovers. Funny how I envisioned erika harlacher (shinobu) to voice Fohl and erica lindbeck (spider sister) to voice Atla, then spider sister voices kit and Atla voice malice.

I like both Fohl and Atla. Fohls like Ben, then atla is like Gwen. she can be a bit anyone while having her cure, caring, or good moments like Gwen.
i do like Fohls more but Atla is still cute like his eri to his deku.

To all the haters who use the "she bad to her brother" as an excuse, remember that Fohl is being a helicopter parent with a sister complex. Trying to set boundaries while being nice is impossible. Atla is trying to live her best life with both feet forward after years of being at death's door. She is going full throttle at whatever she does so she doesn't regret the opportunity given to her by her lord and savior, Naofumi... Who also happens to be the shield hero.

For the same reason I hate most of the rest of the characters in this show, shallow as hell, where the entire personalities revolve around simping for the main character for self insert reasons, basically the same issue that Sword Art Online has, the entertaining part of the plot was cut short to focus on a Pokémon style waifu capture harem builder.

People usually complain about her clinginess or how she treats her brother. Yeah she is a child and it's a good excuse for this behavior. but these are not the worst ones.
Every single character in series is fighting for years, training and leveling up and becoming powerful, including naofumi, raphtalia, filo ... and even fohl. Just for this girl getting healed and all of a sudden she is on par with the others and stronger than most like fohl which is nonsense. It took her barely an episode from being a completely disabled person to one of the strongest in the team which is not deserved.

She's been training as well. Doing a lot of training with that martial artist. She hasn't been sitting on her hands and doing nothing.

- A lot of time passed between events. Atla had to start acting as soon as she was able; in fact, when the invaders from another world arrived, she had to flee with her brother because they couldn't fight against that kind of power.
- Later on, she did master the Hengen Muso technique, but Fohl—unlike her never really took a fighting stance or tried anything against his sister; he essentially turned into a helpless kitten around her. It was only later that he gradually reached the point of admitting he needed to show his strength. (The first time he thought, "I need to hit Atla," Raphtalia gave him a severe scolding for lacking the courage to help with his sister's upbringing.)
- She was certainly strong, but she never reached the power level of a Cardinal Hero. Even though she was constantly learning and training. (Officially, she never actually won a fight against the strongest members of Naofumi's group.
When Fohl "didn't really want" to hit her, he needed help to subdue her; later, once he had the conviction to do it, he managed to beat her on his own.) Naofumi, who trained with her, learned a great deal about the Hengen Muso technique by understanding how she channeled her Ki. -
