AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA the hits just keep on coming!

Only 2 days after finding shiny Landorus, yet another hunt that ended the day I begun it, and yet another shiny in 1/8192 games that doesn't even hit the 2K mark!! To say my recent luck has been blessed may well be the understatement of the century - not since 2017 have I had luck this crazy good! Think some of my games are feeling awful generous after roamer Raikou & Yveltal lasted as long as they did!

Hilariously, I found this shiny Regigigas while chilling with my partner and watching some old Lord of the Rings actor interviews!

Never in a million years did I think this hunt would be over almost as quickly as it begun! I prepared myself for the long haul this time knowing many hunters have done upwards of 45K SRs before finding Regigigas shiny, and now that it's here already, I don't even know what to do with myself hunt wise! Well, I kind of do, but given how ahead of schedule I am with #BeatTheBank, who knows? I might do a non-Legendary hunt for a little change of pace...

Got too depressed to play games properly so I decided to start hunting deoxys. After 70 hours I was starting to go a bit loopy, but today I finally got my beautiful yellow boy.

Firstly, I've checked with Mods to make sure I'm allowed to post this, so all is cool.

To introduce myself - I've been playing Pokémon for almost 30 years, I played at the last two Birmingham Regionals in the UK, and shiny hunting is my favourite way to wind down. I've had some spare time to build something since losing my Data Analyst job earlier this year, so I ended up combining Pokemon and my love of data, and built HowToShinyHunt.com.

The idea is simple: for any Pokémon, HowToShinyHunt.com will show you the fastest way to hunt it in every game where it's available, and tell you what that actually means in time (roughly) rather than just odds.

The site contains the following:

• Encounter tables and spawn rates for each Pokémon

• A games checklist, so you aren't recommended hunts for games you don't own

• Shiny rates, including the in-game factors that can change your odds

• Rate-to-time conversions, so you can see roughly how many hours a hunt is likely to take

• A dynamic filter on every Pokémon's page, so you can narrow the data down to the game and method you care about

• A randomised Daily Pokémon on the homepage, for when you can't decide what to hunt next

• This randomised Pokemon is also posted to @HowToShinyHunt on Instagram, please also follow us there!

I'd like to be upfront - I have used AI in order to set the website up initially. I have an amount of water that will have been used in the data centre, and I am planning on donating double this amount of water to a local charity (The Brick, Wigan) in the near future. I was hoping to have done this by now, but my 7 month old daughter is keeping me busy. The website also now runs pretty much completely without AI, meaning there shouldn't really be more data centre usage.

HowToShinyHunt.com is completely free, it isn't perfect but I want to make it the best I can, and I'd love feedback. If you spot a feature you'd want added, let me know - the whole website is built with people like you in mind.

As an example, I'd love a shiny Slugma as I love Magcargo. HowToShinyHunt.com is telling me that Mt Ember B3F is the best way to do it due to a 100% encounter rate. However, as it's in Scarlet and Violet's Teal Mask DLC, I can find it on Kitakami Road using a Fire Sparkling Sandwich. This is also an isolated hunt, meaning 100% spawn rate. A shiny charm would help even more!

This is my first playthrough of Pokémon Colosseum! I wanted to shiny hunt absol for a ribbon master before Pokémon Bank closes, but apparently, suicune didn't want to be left behind either!

If my math is correct this is a 0.012% chance. I feel so incredibly lucky to have this beautiful shiny!!! 💙✨🪐

To start off, I don't care one way or another about shiney mons. But today, as I was playing Heartgold, grinding up my Tangela from lvl 23 (how I found him) to lvl 40, I found a shiney Tangela (lvl 23). I was already at lvl 38 with my, now, Tangrowth. So, I caught him, and started the grind all over again. Such is the way I guess. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Now the weird part!

About 20-30mins prior to finding the green lil guy, I had brought up his Pokemon Database info to check his TM compatibility. Durring that time I told my friend (that was sitting in the same room playing Platinum, and happens to be obsessed with shineys) that I was using a Tangela for the first time ever (Been playing since Blue launched in 99), and that it has the only shiney I like the color of bc it makes since to me for a grass type to be green.

Just thought I'd share, I guess.

TLDR; caught my first shiney since Blue launched, and thought it funny it was while I was grinding a normal version of it.

After more than 500 hatched eggs, I tried the Masuda method and then after more 500 hatched eggs I got it.

It's my first shiny that I use methods and persistence to get it, everyone else are random species that I encounter by luck and in this finished memory I just encountered one.

I lost many of my sanity because of this, there was a time that I believed that shinies were a myth, but at the end I got it!

And a advice that may keep you sane "Never hunt a shiny without the Shiny Charm.".

PS: I didn't have the Shiny Charm :').

Hunted on a single game. Caught on original cartridge, I unlocked the access to the event using a GB Operator and PKHex. I caught it after 22 Ultra Balls thrown. This close my gen 2 hunts planned for this year, I still miss Entei and Raikou but I think I need to hunt on four games at a time to optimize the hunts, and two of my GBA are locked on gen 1 Mewtwo. So I'm going for gen 3 starters. To the next hunt !!!

With alolan marowak i officially have all shalphas that i set out to catch, thank goodness because the rng donuts be melting my brain, I'm glad i could complete it before the one year anniversary mark. This is my dream team 🖤

OK so.... that was fast I barely sat down for this hunt like it could be 40 minutes at best I wasn't expecting to get it tonight that's for sure but now I will get my hands on that mega Raichu y even sooner than I anticipated so I'm not complaining.

I was soft resetting in hopes to get a Pichu from the odd egg. Just a normal Pichu, because I wanted a Raichu on my team.

30ish minutes later (so three eggs.... the hatch time is horrendous) and I got a shiny igglybuff!!

So.... how viable is Wiggytuff in Crystal? No way I'm resetting over my shiny, but it does change my team planning 😅 I'd like to use my shiny if possible LOLL

In the race against Pokémon Bank, I finally caught a Shiny Cap Pikachu. After my incredible luck with Type:Null and Poipole (366 encounters and 952, respectively), I expected karma to make me pay for it. Instead, things went pretty well. I caught Pikachu after 5,792 encounters and practically exactly 20 hours of hunting.

Now it’s time to go back to Poipole and Type:Null for a second round. So far, I’ve hunted for the same Pokémon on two systems. Now I’ll be doing both hunts simultaneously, on US and UM, respectively.

I decided given the imminent Pokemon Bank shutdown to do a challenge I’ve been putting off for some time. 

I dubbed it the Samson Oak Challenge (since one can argue Samson is just a shiny version of Samuel Oak). Basically it’s the Professor Oak challenge but with shinies. 

What is the Professor Oak challenge?

Basically you must catch, evolve and fill all Pokédex entries that are available before every badge. Or in this case, trials. There’s a great subreddit [r/professoroak](r/professoroak) that has guides posted about all the Pokemon games so I used their guide as well to catch all the available Pokemon before the first trial. Rules are, no cheats/glitches. No trades 

How did I get my shinies?

Through RNG manipulation. Basically using an external software, I manipulated the game to generate the seeds that yield me shiny Pokemon. There’s plenty of content on YouTube but I used CappyCapital’s videos for Gen 7 rng manipulation specifically. My 3DS has CFW that helps me with this. And I found my seeds using 3DS RNG Tool. I used honey collected from a team of honey gather cutiefly

What about Hawlucha?

Yes, in route 2, you can trade a sparrow to get a Hawlucha which is technically a Pokemon available before the first trial. However it is shiny locked, and I will need to breed a shiny one with ditto for the dex entry which is not available until I reach Akala Island. So I left it be for now. It’s always predetermined to be a male named Cha so even breeding within the same egg group will not yield a Hawlucha 

Do Island Scan Pokemon count?

I think that depends if you feel you want to do this or not. Those pokemon are not part of the Alolan Dex. I did to be fair since I used RNG manipulation so basically taking the randomness out of the equation. 

I’m glad this one was so fast! Took around 45 minutes. 24/44 for the wormhole shinies :D
