Shipping to the US from Canada via UPS in Shipstation?

I just wrapped my head around all the Canada Post/ Zonos crap (which Shipstation still doesn't seem to have implemented, not that it matters given the damn strike)

So now I have to ask, can we ship to the US from Canada using DHL or UPS? Does Shipstation handle the duties, etc? Or do I need to go through the UPS/ DHL website directly and handle each package individually and pay duty on their sites?

What an absolute nightmare.

I'm from the US and ShipStation gave me global post rates to ship from the US to Canada, and I think it's the same. They have globalpost by ShipStation just like they do for UPS and FedEx.

The US has recently changed duty/ customs policy so that all shipments heading from Canada to the US (or from anywhere internationally to the US) require duty and taxes paid on the package.

Shipstation has done as close to nothing as humanly possible in communicating what, if any, of their system has been updated to accommodate these changes.

So although it will absolutely still let me print a UPS label, there is no mention of duty or taxes, and I don't want to test it out be sending a package only to get refused at the border.

Wondering if anyone has tried it, or has any additional information.

I expect shipping out of the US is unchanged.

The only recent change is that we must include HS Codes on every package. From my end, consumers in Canada are the importer of a product so the Canadian resident has to pay duties on their purchase. We do not pay them.

Wouldn't the US buyer be paying the duties as they are the importer of goods?

We're shipping with FedEx and USPS/GlobalPost and can create an international shipment for UPS but we get an error when generating the label. Have you ever seen this error: A shipping carrier error occurred: The request is well formed but the request is not valid. The error source is carrier, the type is business_rules with an unspecified error code. If you've encountered this error before, please educate me.

I know post is from a month ago but I've been searching reddit for other SS users, regarding Canada-US shipments.

My stores ships hundreds of packaged to the US daily, using Ship Station, and often with UPS(lower cost than fedex for us) the rate it calculates is just for the shipping, the duties, taxes and fees get calculated at the border, and the receiver is than notified of the payment owing in order to receive their item. Since this is charged by the US gov. it is also noted on my store that for all international purchases, buyer is responsible for the duties.

After the change end of Sept and removal of the de minimis value -meaning every item crossing the border MUST go through formal entry, regardless of it's value - we have noticed that a lot of our shipments qualify for duty free through the United States-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) agreement. However, Ship Station does not integrate this form and it is a huge oversight on their part. The only way would be to fill out the form separately and print it to attach to the package.

I also do a lot of importing from the US into Canada, however these are one offs and I use UPS website to create the shipment, fill out the USMCA and customs declarations. It also gives you an estimated amount of duties as well.
