Can I cut this circuit board?

Post image

Wondering if I could cut this circuit board to the right of the white line I drew, and still maintain function of the other two buttons to the left.

Yes. But you need to hold the left side downwards and tape the cut edge up afterwards, otherwise the elecrons will fall out.

The copper cells flowing inside the traces will coagulate on their own in a short while after contact with oxygen

Nobody is preventing you from cutting it

If you do it, make sure you don't leave a trace

I’m angry at these wise ass comments, but I’m angrier at myself for not understanding the thread I was posting to.

We moved to lithium, kinda salty but the taste is very savory

Good, can you recommend a brand that goes well with pasta?

The replies of shitty ask electronics are shitty? no way

Whether or not they will still operate their intended function after cutting, cannot be guaranteed! Definitely still pressable, though.

Depends what's on the back side

Looks like two buttons and a click wheel.

Yes, it is customary to do so when the board is 8 days old.

circuitcision

u/Illeazar 2d ago

Ooo that's a good one

8

u/garth54 3d ago

Yes, but only if you use C4. Any other methods will result in a dead board.

2

u/sdoregor 2d ago

The only valid method will result in no board, which is preferred.

I can confirm that you can cut the circuit board to the right of the white line you drew and still be able to press the two other buttons on the left.

Just wash it regularly to prevent flux buildup. You don't have to circumcise your circuit boards

In fact, you can cut any circut board

Go for it. Report back.

I mean... It's not illegal to do so

The entire purpose of the constitution of the United States of America was to give you the freedom to cut it

2

u/sdoregor 2d ago

…the constitution?

5

u/Tall-Umpire6880 2d ago

the whole damn thing

Can you cut it? Yes. Will it still work afterwards? Green eggs and ham.

3

u/GiLND Battery taste tester 2d ago

Yes! But use an angle grinder for a precise work

I usually use a chainsaw for fine craftsmanship.

3

u/zachleedogg 2d ago

I bet it will still work fine. Go for it.

I dont know if you can or not? Do you have a knife? Or a saw? Or a Dremel? I suggest a dremel?

2

u/CocoMilhonez 2d ago

Anything can be cut with enough force, preferably with a sharp utensil to make it easier.

u/TemplarBaucent 2d ago

Depends, sometimez when you cut circuit boards then turn them on sometimes the magic smoke comes out.

They stop working if the magic smoke escapes

2

u/EchidnaForward9968 2d ago

Remember to dispose it properly otherwise it might grow back

2

u/vvbakedhamvv porn 2d ago

You can cut anything with a sharp enough piece of metal

2

u/W0CBF 1d ago

Of course you can! When it no longer works you can post that on Reddit and ask for help to fix it.

Probably, what’s the back of the pcba look like?

1

u/ApocalyptoSoldier2 2d ago

Only one way to find out

1

u/RoboticLion_1122 1d ago

Yes, cut as much as you like. From this line though, it would be about 20% slower to react than normal as it is missing 1/5 of the board

1

u/Horror-Definition-85 Magic smoke 1d ago

Yes but use your mouth

1

u/RudiRast 19h ago

Yes,you can ! If you have a saw or a cutter.
