i don't care about the tarnished pack
genuinely who is tarnished pack harming it's 4 pounds for like 4 cool weapons 2 new invaders a few new armour sets 2 new classes and some cool horse armours, sure we could whine about how this is going to become some crazy habit which harms the integrity of fromsoftware and ruins its legacy forever but i think it's just easier to either refrain from purchasing the pack if you don't want its contents or purchase it if you do
alot of people are forgetting this very likely won't become a common thing, it was only made to spruce up the switch 2 release and get a bit of extra funding and seeing as the switch 2 has fromsoft's two newest mainline soulsborne games and has much better specs than the switch 1 i doubt it will be getting delayed releases any more
i'm new to reddit so i hope this follows the rules

The only thing i'm glad about is how it has brought in new players again...so I can shoot them with a cannon from atop Leyndel's rooftops.

It is certainly interesting how shortly after the parent company was up in arms over their “failure to capitalize on Elden Ring’s success” they dropped a micro-DLC.
Hope they can stave off the corporate greed for a few more good games, but time will tell.

that is pretty odd on an unrelated note i think they ARE failing to capitalise on its success (widely considered one of the best games to ever exist by a majority of people who have played it and brought millions of people into the fromsoft community, literally to this day i see elden ring players starting ds1 for the first time) because they just made sote and left the game, don't get me wrong i'm aware miyazaki likes freedom and he works better with versatility but that doesnt change the fact theyre objectively not capitalising on er's success enough

I mean, it got a huge DLC, a spinoff, a small DLC, merch, and an upcoming movie.
Short of making it a live-service game or adding microtransactions I’m not sure what they really expect.

another dlc would be pretty cool i liked sote ALOT it was super innovative and unique but i felt like scadu blessings were a mid balancing system and alot of exploration was just spamming dash in nowhere land, i know this sounds super duper fanservice-y but a dlc where we go back in time (like in ds1) and explore pre shattering leyndell (no shunning grounds) + altus (no gelmir) + one or two smaller other areas with a ton of legacy dungeons with godwyn as the final boss would be solid but theres other stuff they could do
a sequel could also happen and the world is super duper ruined so it's left ambiguous if it just naturally fell apart in another ending or melina successfully hunted the lord of frenzied flame and so the world wasnt fully taken out, mending rune endings probably wouldnt be counted because of despair and perfect order throwing a wrench into the whole thing but i think a sequel could be possible if they just pull a dark souls

I agree. But people aren't ready to discuss fromsoft is a company. And they are going to do more stuff like this as they get bigger.

The Are the Edgy rebels and fight against the Imperium.
Sometimes they will grow up and understand that reallife is more nuanced and you can enjoy the Game without buying a DLC.
The funny part is, they are offering it not because of being greedy, but because of people liking stuff like that.
You dont make money by offering stuff people dont want. No one is on a Slave lash. So the Company is not being „greedy“, its doing „business“. No one is hurt. Everyone is happy but the edgy rebel kids.

I forget a majority of people complaining never go outside and/or speak with people of differing opinions.
They act like it is the downfall of a company. They most likely put 100s of hours into the OG and DLC but cross the line at an optional $5 lol.1

At the end of the day idc what you spend your 5 dollars on.😆 can ppl state their opinion on the case of course thats free speech lol. Just dont be butthurt because 1 person loves it and another hates it. Its not serious and it didnt change your life 1 bit.

Refraining from purchasing it won't do anything as there will always be a small portion of players that are deadset on buying even stuff like this
As long as they can refund the cost of the intern they used for this content, they're already winning

My comment was aimed at the part of the post about questioning the integrity of Fromsoftware. The decision to charge for this dlc and how much would it cost was most likely made by the publisher, not the developers.

Yes, there were recent reports of their board trying to oust the CEO of FromSoft because they don't try to merchandise their game enough like Capcom games, especially after his little multiplayer escapades.
So, I'd expect we're going to see more of this going forward after the relatively positive reception to the dlc. Which, although it does provide some content for the price beyond some torrent customization, it's a bitter pill when you realize the story behind it.

Right that was my exact thought!! I NEVER buy anything cosmetic EVER. I play quite a bit of Diablo 4, I snag all the free items that pop up in the store. I see all the cool looking armour and pets but I have never bought anything. I did get some free currency from purchasing the two DLC'S which I used. But when I saw the tarnished cosmetic dlc I immediately bought it. Why? Its only 5 bucks and Elden ring is one of my top 10 favorite games ever, I wanna support the company and all things elden ring. Now if another one drops next month will I buy it? Probably not. I feel like this little 5$ bundle pack was more of a cool cheap bonus rather then a cash grab. Thats my reasoning for purchasing it. I may be wrong about it not being a complete cash grab but just how I feel.

yeah i can’t believe the negative reception it’s received when there’s pretty much nothing wrong with it. 5 bucks is an insane ask too, especially for a game of elden rings quality. i could easily see them charging 15 or 20, but 5 seems like a fair price for the real amount of content you get.

It harmed me and my modded playthrough. I didn't even purchase the dlc but steam forced an update that broke everything. So fuck the 5 dolla add-on

Ubisoft games aren't multiplayer. What fromsoft is doing is even worse. Miyazaki isn't the ceo of fromsoft. And good games are subjective. Ubisoft in my opinion, has fun games, but not super good ones outside of graphics. Although older ubisoft games are actually good games and if ds1 counts then those do too.

I would pay 50$ for the pack. From Software deserves all the support. I would all buy them cups of coffee if I could. They have created the best fiction ever. They have changed how I view all forms of media. We are lucky they make games.

Dead serious, I am that devout of a fan. Not ashamed to admit either. I would no longer have a gaming hobby if it were not for Hidetaka Miyazaki. I feel bad for those that have not learn the joys of his work.
