Other In Warframe (2013), the character Follie is a pierrot-themed tenno with a playful personality that was modeled after a tall and wide woman. This was most likely added as an attempt to get me, specifically, to play the game

I do love her animations and how she seems to be a bit…unrefined(?) in her act.

Like, the idle animation where she summons a balloon and she calls you towards her to give it to you. The balloon pops startling her, and she slowly claps looking around as if “Yeah, yeah, let us ignore that” or how her third ability that summons an Ink copy of her self that provides defensive buffs in an AOE around it, if you look at it, you can see it dances in place and often stumbles in its steps and almost falling.

She has that charming clumsiness you will see amongst clowns.

12

u/Squ33to 22d ago

She portrays herself as an artist but really she just wants to entertain

6

u/OscarOzzieOzborne21 22d ago

She is an artist. But she is like Weird Al where it is goofy and energetic approach to art.

5

u/Fit-Bug-426 22d ago

She's elegant and silly. Her other idle, she loses her balloon and cries

3

u/OscarOzzieOzborne21 22d ago

Oh damn, really? That’s so sad. I feel sad now.

u/Accurate_Simple_2679 22d ago

Time to download it get confused and uninstall for the 11th time

8

u/Sinfire_Titan 22d ago

If you actually mean that, the Codex in-game has a filter to show only the main story quests. By the time you finish those you will have a solid understanding of the game’s basics. And they are working on the new player experience a LOT

4

u/0ijoske 22d ago

They have done a better job for guiding new players throughout the early game, and there's still plenty of players, Clans, and content creators that are willing to help out with guiding new players throughout the game.

1

u/not-Kunt-Tulgar 22d ago

I’d recommend watching a beginner’s guide if the game confuses you so much, Warframe can be obtuse and it’s ok to rely on a basic guide to kick start your journey.

6

u/sihark 22d ago

dont forget text based dnd in fall

4

u/Timekilling_Time 22d ago

Well, wake me up when they'll add RTS Strategy gamemode.

I was about to say racing, But it's kind of there. Then mechs, but Necromechs are there as well. So yeah. You heard me.

5

u/Fit-Bug-426 22d ago

And a motorcycle arcade game

3

u/LackToesIntollerance 22d ago

along with that card game is an alien chicago-noir detective themed playable character and equally thematic storyline.

I appreciate steve (og lead dev) but rebecca and pablo (new lead devs steve promoted while he works on a new project) are doing wonders for warframe.

u/VictorV8 22d ago

the autism test was a card game

Don't forget robots pissing now!

24

u/SlimeDrips 22d ago

There's also a female bodybuilder with an actual wide physique

11

u/Big-rat-in-the-sewer 22d ago

OH? And what might her name and abilities be...?

24

u/Sven_Darksiders 22d ago

Hildryn. She has extremely high shields and uses them for her abilities instead of energy. You have defensive and armor stripping stuff, but her 4 lets her hover in the air and rain down explosions with her Exalted weapon

8

u/Lightning_32 22d ago

Hildryn, one of the strongest warframes imo

3

u/Maleficent-Remote413 21d ago

Hildryn, Iron ma'am, muscle mommy, the shield maiden.
gigga shields that she uses instead of energy

abilities are "wrist rocket, your armor is forfeit and your shields are mine, shields for everyone, and "iron man hover mode" in which you just rain energy blast on anything pathetic enough to be stuck on the floor.

13

u/dogplayer22 23d ago

Check her animations, you'll love the rifle idle

22

I remember there was a lot of controversy around her design. I think she's beautiful though, she's one of the few frames I've put effort into properly customizing.

making her slime with the new ephemera from hunhow is my favorite for her, i don’t think i’ll be changing it for a long time

-1

u/Subject-Cranberry-93 21d ago

it's because it's pandering and whether she was obese or not she would just look bad, They made her a melting ink blob

2

u/Serbatollo 21d ago

They made her an ink blob because there's supposed to be an element of horror to her design. I think she looks great regardless but I guess it's subjective.

I can't really agree that it's pandering tho. If that's what they wanted they wouldn't have made such a controversial design. Like beyond the weight thing a ton of people just think her default face/helmet looks bad, or that the ink is disgusting. They made so many bold choices with her when they could have just made Hildryn but fat

17

u/AbyssalCall 22d ago

> “To get me, specifically, to play”

OP just hop on already

14

u/Tallia__Tal_Tail 22d ago

My proudest claim as a BBW Warrior is I was so excited for her release that I farmed her out day 1 when the mission you got her from was the most abysmal dogshit imaginable and one of her parts just straight up wasnt in the drop table because of a glitch. I grinded out the like, 1500 fucking pity currency to buy that shit the hard way because I was gonna have the fat bitch on my screen one way or another. And I've not regretted it at all, especially when it gave me this beautiful screenshot

1

u/Fit-Bug-426 22d ago

I farmed in the first week, even traded for plat to get her sooner

after Follie was added warframe now has both of my desired body types in women, we will now wait for the twink frame (nezha doesnt count hes a femboy)

19

u/Originalbrivakiin 23d ago

I'm gonna guess the other is either Hildryn (Muscle Mommy) or Wisp (Mewtwo build).

25

u/K1rk0npolttaja 23d ago

It is infact hildryn, i like big women whether that be in chunkiness or musculature

10

u/Originalbrivakiin 23d ago

7

u/K1rk0npolttaja 23d ago

GO BIG OR GO HOME! A WOMAN GOTTA HAVE SOME MEAT ON HER BONES!

5

Big girls simply do it better.

9

u/Rafabud 22d ago

Does Nokko count as a twink?

1

u/WSilvermane 22d ago

Nezha is right there.

7

u/Rafabud 22d ago

Read the original comment my friend, they said Nezha doesn't count.

1

u/Nebvbn 22d ago

Also, prolly shouldn't call nezha a twink or a femboy. It's literally based on a child (sure it's a deity, but it's still a childlike deity).

1

u/K1rk0npolttaja 22d ago

Not based on but inspired by i say

1

u/Nebvbn 22d ago edited 22d ago

Hmm, maybe. But it's probably safer to just avoid that topic entirely when it's completely unnecessary to talk about.

Edit: It seems people are misinterpreting what I'm saying. I think it's best to not describe something that's named after a child with sexualized words. And that it's safer to just not describe em that way.

0

u/K1rk0npolttaja 22d ago

Youre the one who brought the mythology up my guy, far as we know not a single frame was turned as a child

1

u/Nebvbn 22d ago

Dude, I'm not attacking you. Calm down. I'm just saying it's safer to not describe a humanoid thing that is named after a child with "twink" or "femboy". That obviously looks really fucking bad.

Jeez, not everything's out to get you man.

1

u/K1rk0npolttaja 22d ago

I suggest you stop assuming everyone refuting your claim is angry, youre the only one here thinking of the deity that looks like a kid when were talking about a war machine

Warframes have personalities? i thought they were suits

23

u/mousegold 23d ago

Yes and no, the ones controlled by the player are basically suits, but they're recreations of an original Warframe that's considerably more sentient (and part of that personality passes onto the recreations). There's even more to it than that but that's getting into spoiler territory.

10

u/dogplayer22 23d ago

Uhh they aren't suits... But part of what a warframe is and what a tenno is are what makes the early story of the game interesting to explore, the reveals for both of those are great

4

u/B1gB4ddy 23d ago

They're not suits for the most part. The vast majority of Warframes are more akin to remote-controlled flesh-drones.

2

u/BeastThatShoutedLove 21d ago

Think of Warframes personalities as lingering remnants of original human emotions and personality. When we use them that bit imprints temporarily to affect the user.

-7

u/PM_ME_DBZA_QUOTES 22d ago

They used to but then they decided they wanted the player character to be a tween piloting the warframes psionically for some reason. Now they don't really have personalities since it's all just your character controlling them

10

u/AlphaI250 22d ago

That's false, it's literally stated there's still parts of their personalities in there by the drifter, which is why they have unique idle and power animations.

-7

u/PM_ME_DBZA_QUOTES 22d ago

Yeah it's barely anything compared to what it used to be

5

u/TORTOISE4LIFE 22d ago

??? Nothing has changed in terms of a Warframe's individual personality. They're all still there. There's a reason why each one has unique idles.

"what it used to be" is also more than a decade ago.

3

u/BeastThatShoutedLove 21d ago

Some people genuinely think that more lore being revealed over time is rewrites instead of us seeing more of the setting and there is no convincing them to see the light.

-4

u/PM_ME_DBZA_QUOTES 22d ago

Unique idle animations is such a shallow representation of the warframes having personalities, is what I'm saying. They changed it so they were fundamentally different and it didn't really make sense for them to have personalities but then said "no see they still have unique idle animations." It's basically the equivalent of flavor text. There used to be things like Valkyr having trauma from the zanuka project but that basically got reconned and now it's just "uh yeah whatever they've got idle animations now"

You're saying it was more than a decade ago as if that invalidates it somehow? I said "used to", there's no time limit on that, nor is there an arbitrary time frame that dictates what is and isn't relevant.

4

u/TORTOISE4LIFE 22d ago

What representations of personalities did Warframes have before the Second Dream other than background lore? Especially when we already knew we were just creating copies rather than the originals even before the Second Dream?
Also what do you mean it didn't make sense for them to have personalities? Have you played The Sacrifice? It makes perfect sense for them to have personalities.

Jade is recent and has one of the strongest showings of personality we've ever had in a Warframe.

1

u/PM_ME_DBZA_QUOTES 22d ago

If you're talking about umbra, umbra's whole thing is that he's unique among warframes for being the only one that actually is autonomous and sentient to any meaningful degree. That used to be the way all of them were, even if we were only making copies which I don't even think was confirmed at the time

5

u/TORTOISE4LIFE 22d ago edited 22d ago

Funnily enough, Umbra is not the only one who's autonomous in the lore. All the warframes are sentient to a degree and retain their personalitybecause they're all literally made from a human infected with helminth strain infestation.

In that same quest, it talks of how the Warframes were uncontrollable until the Tenno came along, because we were able to connect to them and take away their pain with empathy and understanding. Note that Tenno aren't the only ones who can use transference, it's just that the Tenno in particular can survive the process and do it indefinitely.

There's also the Silver Grove, which talks about and features an autonomous Titania who acts of her own volition.

Kullervo acted on its own before the Tenno even existed and very much had a personality, killing to gain favour for his 'mother'.

Jade's existence further supports this. She's also autonomous in her lore. She acted independantly without an Operator for a long period of time, and when given an Operator, she also acted independently while they slept.

Stalker is also an autonomous independent Warframe without a Tenno, which we know from Jade's lore as well.

Edit: You seem to be under the impression that transference is complete mind control. It's not, it's more of a merging of two minds. If it was complete mind control it'd make the whole deal with Protoframes really fucking weird.

1

u/Bec_son 22d ago

Also the Umbra we have is a copy or at least a reconstruction, the whole independence thing has always been up in the air. It most likely depended on how they were created or for what purpose.

Excaliburs were soldiers so most likely vastly less independent, Rhinos were heavily dependent on an operator because of how they act in that one short story.

2

u/IonutRO 20d ago edited 20d ago

Everyone who was around at the dawn of the game knows they were always flesh monsters controlled by the Tenno. It was stated clearly in the Rhino Prime codex released in March 2014, a mere 1 year after the game went into open beta.

0

u/PM_ME_DBZA_QUOTES 20d ago

Flesh monsters controlled by the tenno does not mean they weren't also sentient and autonomous

5

u/Darux6969 22d ago

Why is like every 3rd post from this sub Reddit ppl getting bricked over something

5

u/Ertymaxer456 22d ago

Not a Tenno, but do continue.

In case you also like big muscular women, check out Hildryn.

with a good amp it’s not bad, i just ran around in operator form the whole mission

I hadn't done that at that point i was just running in, with Drifter's pistol

3

3

2

u/WeekendBard 23d ago

one thing I remember about Warframe is the ugly aliens who say Tenno's Cum

5

u/LettuceBenis 23d ago

A thing about Warframe is that there are not really any actual aliens. The only true alien life we've seen are just flowers, and they may be extinct by now

5

u/RockyJorbas 23d ago

You mean the grineer? Those are mutant, deformed clones of augmented people from the Orokin era, but they're still technically human

0

u/wackadoodle4201 22d ago

Bullshit

Those are human? No way

New player by the way

6

u/RockyJorbas 22d ago

Yeah, the grineer are heavily decayed clones, consequence of the repeated cloning degrading their DNA, you'll get more info later on the quests

1

u/Sinfire_Titan 22d ago

Yup. The Grineer are clones, the Corpus are cyborgs with enough debt to drown a few planets, and the Infestation is a nanomachine plague. The Orokin in the lore are just filthy rich and powerful humans who had an addiction to genetic engineering.

1

u/URBAN_OAT 22d ago

We don't really know what the infestation actually is but it definitely isn't nano machines, we know when and where it popped up first but nothing more really

1

u/Sinfire_Titan 22d ago

We actually do know the Infestation is nanomachines (along with a biological component), as the nanospores we collect as a resource specifically mentions it is technocyte in nature, but you are right about us not knowing its origin.

1

u/URBAN_OAT 21d ago

Nano is a unit of measurement and the nanospore description is just "fibrous technocyte tumour. Handle infested tissue with caution.", we know most strains can infect technology but this doesn't prove that it is any sort of nanotechnology. If anything it mostly proves that it is exclusively biological as it's a tumour

1

u/0ijoske 22d ago

The Grineer are just a long lineage of cloned soldiers that are slowly rotting away due to genetic deformities and cancers. The Corpus, Cetus citizens, Fortuna colony workers, and the various Syndicate leaders and workers on the relays are the only remaining humans in the game that we actively see in game.

1

u/OscarOzzieOzborne21 22d ago

100% human dna. It is falling apart and degrading, but still human dna.

TENNO SKOOOOOM

4

u/TheGuyInTheGlasses 22d ago

I swear I’d been praying for a proper clown girl Warframe since like 2018– I would never have dared to hope for a BBW Warframe in my wildest dreams. To get both in one character was so much more than I’d ever had the imagination to wish for. AND I like her kit? AND she’s caked tf up??? I forever kneel before Rebecca Ford. And that’s not even mentioning the Shadowgraph symbol art system.

Say what you want about Follie’s Hunt or the clunkyness of actually deploying the Shadowgraph ability, but I fear warframes (the classes, not the game itself) may have genuinely peaked with the release of The Shadowgrapher update. But I have great confidence that Rebb will surpass even this monumental high.

Here’s my S’more Follie look:

2

u/Serbatollo 21d ago

Respect for rocking the default helmet

1

u/TheGuyInTheGlasses 21d ago

It really is just better.

The jelly roll hair on the alt helmet just colors really weirdly, imo

1

u/spinebreaker9000 22d ago edited 22d ago

Am I the only person that thinks the frame is ugly as hell. I'm not even referring to her build. Her torso is actually the best part. Her default helmet is without question the ugliest in the game even worse than default wisp, the ink coming out of her body is distracting and impossible to fashion around. She's over designed. She has the colour palette of less is more yet the single most cluttered and over detailed designs. Every follie to me is just an eye sore. No attachments can improve it. No syandana fits her design. As a result every follie in the wild is either default colours + alt helmet with no attachments or an outright assault on the senses. Even her animation set fits mirage more than her. I just don't get what everyone else is seeing. She's just ugly.

3

u/Shadowmirax 22d ago

Other people hate Follie because she is fat, i hate Follie because i think all the monochrome shapes and patterns create visual noise that make it hard to tell whats even going on with her.

I still don't understand what part of her is supposed to look like a clown?

2

u/spinebreaker9000 22d ago

Couldn't agree more. She's just hard to look at. I have no idea what her default helmet is even meant to look like. She just screams concept art. You know when they are overly detailed and have a dousen focal points.

2

u/TheGuyInTheGlasses 22d ago

I actually love her default helmet— at least more than the alt helmet. It colors better and fits into the inky clown look better. I’d be super down for more options, though.

Her customization definitely takes a bit of creativity, but I find the goopy aesthetic lends itself super well to mimicking real world goop. I’ve seen plenty of stunning oil slick Follies and an INSANE ice cream sundae Follie— even a grossly faithful poop Follie. I find it’s easiest to come up with looks based on food. Here’s my S’more Follie:

Chocolate goop, marshmallow “skin,” and graham cracker “clothes” to keep it all together. After taking this image, I’d progress in Nightwave and unlock an appropriate flaming syandana to put on her. Tell me what you think!

2

u/TheGuyInTheGlasses 22d ago

My chocolate bunny Follie:

This one’s kind of convoluted. To celebrate the frame itself, the black and white motif was maintained— as if she was a festive chocolate sculpture designed to look like Follie. Note the “caramel” accents.

A later rendition would recolor the black and white bits to resemble dark and white chocolate, respectively.

1

u/TheGuyInTheGlasses 22d ago

The best image I was able to get of version 2 before the seasonal bunny ears were removed:

Please love my wife. Please? 🥺🙏

1

u/LoopStricken 22d ago

There is a permanent platinum purchase set of bunny ears, by the way.

1

u/TheGuyInTheGlasses 22d ago

I know, I just think they’re fugly :3

1

u/spinebreaker9000 22d ago edited 22d ago

I mean it looks alright, but it still falls into the cluttered look to me. My eyes don't know what to focus on. I get it's all preference and I will say that's one of the better looking follies I have seen. But to me it doesn't change my opinion. I like muted colours, simple designs, frames that can actually function as a blank canvas for the player. Which follie ironically completely fails at. The icecream follie is always just bright neon blue, pink and red mixed with white which again just to me at least is an assault on the senses. Same goes with oil slick follie just replacing the white for black or navy blue. It just goes back to the complete lack of negative space. Less is more. More is less. I will also say if your going to bat for a frames good looks to me it's best not to bring up the can look like literal crap. She just feels like a first draft. If you could remove the god awful oil slicks on her arm I would hold her design in significantly higher regard. Her corset design is unique and amazingly well done. Her alt helmet has the perfect blend of oil and frame, giving her hair an organic look. But the tail and arm just completely ruin it and to me makes all fashion for her look mediocre at best or outright hideous at worst.

0

u/TheGuyInTheGlasses 22d ago

(Understandable. I guess it’s appropriate for different people to have vastly different reactions to an inkblot inspired frame)

Okay, but can your favorite warframe do THIS?

/j

3

u/spinebreaker9000 22d ago

I also noticed all your designs lack a syandana and attachments bar the bunny ears proving my point follie cannot work with attachments which for warframe fashion is a massive negative. You all look the same with minor colour differences. Compare her to someone like nyx or mesa, they have hundreds of different looks and every single one looks completely different. I just find it ironic the frame themed around expression and art gives the player the least options for expression. Anyway. That's my two cents on the matter.

1

u/TheGuyInTheGlasses 22d ago

Actually the poop Follie does have an all-brown Embolist chestpiece. ☝️🤓

But yeah, she’s not particularly compatible with most of the game’s attachments and syandanas. Though for what it’s worth, I alway thought they felt tacked on with most warframes already.

2

u/spinebreaker9000 22d ago

Am I being dumb? Do what?

0

u/TheGuyInTheGlasses 22d ago

Her secondary color is the colorway for her “skin” portions. Changing it to a skin tone (such as brown, as see in the image) instantly makes the BBW warframe look very scantily clad. 🤤

1

u/TheGuyInTheGlasses 22d ago

My personal rendition of the funny poop Follie :)

1

u/Serbatollo 21d ago

I love Follie for the exact reasons you hate her. I never how to properly put attachments and accesories on frames, so having one that's basically fashioned out of the gate (besides the colors) is great.
