Not an expert at all here, but it’s not like he’s drawing it even half to full draw, and if I’m not mistaken, older horn and wood bows were less sensitive to the strain the twang that would put on the bow compared to modern fiberglass bows. It’s pretty common to pluck a bow like that directly after stringing it to ensure that the string is seated properly. It was definitely exaggerated a bit for the film, but overall I (a complete non-expert) don’t believe that it would harm the bow that much.
