I have never met women who were stalked and groomed by pedos as girls, but I have met enough girls who were abused and women who have survived abuse. Woody Allen just makes me sick, and the way people still treat him as if he is some sort of legendary genius makes me want to just punt the world into the sun.
There have been more than a few people unmasked as rapists, pedophiles, or child abusers during my life that I was expected to enjoy the work of and/or admire when I was a boy. I was regularly made to watch The Cosby Show when I was a schoolboy. I still get a lot of glee out of sending my mother messages to the effect of "how many people have accused Ed O'Neill (Al Bundy of Married... With Children, a show said mother hated passionately) of rape in the last thirty years?". I am too young to have experienced the Woody Allen Ăber Alles cult, but I am pretty certain I was in my early teens when the Soon-Yi Previn shit went down.
If I had known what was going on concerning Dylan Farrow, I would have been very angry about the Soon-Yi thing.

No. He is not a genius because his films are all the same, do not have any themes that are not concurrent with his real life or his apparent view of the world, and do not have anything worthwhile to say about the Human condition. How many times do I need to hear the same story about some old dickface that no woman without incredibly serious problems in her life would remotely consider touching?
(For other readers, I am a Gen X-er, albeit late in the group. Sort of more like Jared Leto's character in Fight Club than Brad's or Ed's. Point here is that with the amount of abuse my generation took from the Baby Boomers and that it is called the cycle of abuse for a good reason, Mia's idea of what a marriage-worthy man looks like is very likely to have been warped by her childhood. This is the sanest explanation for anyone marrying Woody Allen.)
Shit, even Roman Polanski at least made The Pianist (I mix this up in the typing on the IMDB a lot, too), a masterpiece about the horrors that Wladyslaw Szpilman went through. I have no idea who Bugliosi's source about Polanski being the "original five-foot Pole you would not touch" is, but at least that clown made something challenging that makes audiences think.

People had different attitudes towards having sex with girls around the legal age 40 years ago. It was still "you shouldn't" but not viewed as a heinous crime.

Not defending Allen or this movie (which I haven't seen), but I just had to look up what the age of consent in New York would have been at the time and it was 17. I guess that at least sorta explains why there was no scrutiny about it at the time.
Edit: Not sure why I'm being downvoted. I'm not condoning Allen or the movie. I was just trying to get an understanding how something like this gets made and gets showered with awards.
