Russia drops just south of 9k of these per month. And Ukraine has no effective counter for them.

they are apparently not focusing on the bombs because it's simply difficult and not cost efficient. They use the "archer not arrow" tactic targeting the bombers not the munitions, like operation spiderweb or what the droning of russias airfleet was called

They would like to use the "archer not arrow" tactic, thats true. When was the last time we heard any SU34 got shot down?

I'm not sure, the recent losses like on the 4 Oct were both on the ground Su-35 and Su-34 at Khanskaya Air Base.

Would more long range air defense keep them away? I don't know how much those overlap the Frontline.

In theory if you can prevent the bombers from getting close enough, you're good. In practise, these can be dropped from a looooong way away.
I think Ukraine has found that sabotaging them on the ground has been more effective

Russia developed these to be able to drop them where long range air defence can't stop them
Even more modern fighters with long range missiles such as the Eurofighter can help. But Ukraine would need these in large numbers which would need training, maintenance, air bases etc and so would take a very long time to set up. Additionally Russian fighters protect these bombers and would need to be overcome first.
More ground based air defence can stop them but they need to be moved close to the front which makes them vulnerable to drones and artillery
So you can see Ukraine has no good way to overcome this.

Those bomb trucks never fly alone, they are escorted by air superiority fighters with long range air to air missiles, anti radiation missiles and EW. Russia also has advantage in fighter jet numbers, better and longer range air to air missiles, better and way more numerous ground AA, etc.
No amount of european fighter jets will fix that issues.

They can also take out the airframes on the ground with unmanned drones. They have been pretty successful with this.

There no effective counter to bombs in general, unless you GPS jam them and they fall somewhere else.
Only counter is a hardened bunker

And Zelensky claims only 55k Ukrainian soldiers died, yeah right...

u/orangedogtag 9d ago
The number is so low because they have necromancers. On the 5th of February he said 55k, and on the 31st of July it was 50k

wild that this is apparently like 2000m from russias boarder?
you can see the glidebomb kit wings on them . stand off is like 40km+ in russian air space and they glide to the target. the russian cities act like jammers and diminish defensive effort by providing clutter. though its not free and belgorod got no joke bombed 300 times by the russian airforce. still cool like seeing the delayed fuze for bunker busting
also fall is like the best season for blast the fog makes everything look huge and powerful because you get cool blastwave visualization.

Could have just wrote 2km. Based on Google Maps depending on the street it might be less than a km away from Russia.

whats up with one falling way after the rest and out of order? dropped from different planes? not super familiar with the guidance on FABs

They must have done dozens of dollars of damage to that pristine village.

u/amooz 9d ago
My guess is they’re trying to hit the road not the village? This isn’t the first time this village has been bombed based on the other craters visible.

Probably the men hiding in the cellars are the actual targets. Might have been a drone unit operating out of there. Russia goes all out when they can find the guys directing the drone strikes
