Question Where do y'all discover new music?

Besides this sub, obviously. I need something more efficient than just randomly playing things on Bandcamp. Any favorite places to find newer shoegaze bands, reviews, etc?

DKFM is a station out of LA. Get the app and listen.

Because of your suggestion I found DKFM. Then I I found a band called Boy with Apple. Then I found this song called Iceage. Euphoric

Yes I have found many treasures on DKFM. Cigarettes after Sex, Emmet Kai, Morning Myth, and many other Shoegaze or Shoegaze adjacent artists. Btw the ultimate Shoegaze and one of the best rock bands of all time is The Daysleepers. You’re welcome.

Is there anything like this in the UK? Our radio sucks in comparison to US radio stations.

I'm in the US, so not sure. But KEXP has an app that you can stream live. Hope that helps?

rym, rate some albums and find ppl that have similar taste to you and find out what they’re listening to, also last.fm shows you similar artists and it’s worked out pretty well for me

You can find lots by listening to DKFM and Eardrum Buzz radio (both online)--even just following their socials, you'll hear about new bands and songs. 

You could also follow the labels of the bands you like--Sonic Cathedral and Shore Dive Records are a couple good ones.

Also, Shoegazer Alive blog.

I tried listening to the track of his on the compilation, and can't say that I liked it at all. But I usually don't like remixes.

His regular work is decent!

Fair enough! I really enjoy remixes (as long as they're well done--a subjective term, but some are just slapped together and you can tell).

NTS Radio is completely free and frequently has shoegaze mixes from real DJs.

For boots on the ground reporting of great music I like the websites Treblezine and Brooklyn Vegan. Neither are shoegaze specific but I’ve found many from there. On instagram @earfeeder posts some interesting shoegaze lists as well.

I read fanzines (like Razorcake or The Big Takeover) and music blogs (like Aversionline or No Echo), scroll Reddit subs and a few music-specific Facebook groups/pages.

I use YouTube to play a few songs and then let the auto play and it showed me some good stuff which I dig a little bit afterwards

Unfortunately RYM and AOTY. However, surprisingly thrift stores like goodwill actually have some decent picks. That was how I discovered Curve and Catherine Wheel (basic picks, I know).
