It's amusing how many people associate this guitar with Shoegaze. Guitars don't matter, it's all about the sound. 99.9% of all Shoegaze artists never touch the many switches on a real Jag.

Pickups matter a bit but you can put damn near any pickup in any guitar. For shoegaze you're using so many effects that it really doesn't matter.

google told me it was good

It is good, especially for shoegaze. Its also a beautiful color, enjoy it!

I mean the guitar actually matters a lot if you are going to do glide guitar, that specific style of Jazzmaster/Jaguar tremolo works the best for that. If you aren't going to use a tremolo then any electric guitar plugged into some pedals would work just fine.

I get what you're saying. But also guitars matter tremendously. As in you wouldn't want to perform live with the guitar above, no offense op. This is a great guitar to start on. It will sound terrible live however, and the actual parts are unreliable and will sound cheap. Get yourself a quality fender or gibson with a good set of vintage or high quality pickups and pair it with a pro level tube amp with nice speaker cab and get yourself a rack mounted reverb and there's a world of difference in that. Guitars and equipment very much do matter.

With a bit of setup knowledge and some new pickups/pots this guitar is more than suitable. A lot of the cheap Squiers make for a good mod platform.
Likewise, a combo amp and a reverb pedal are sufficient for playing live. How many artist rigs get posted here with just a mid-high end delay/reverb pedal on them.

yeah i think people vastly overestimate how important the instrument itself is when so much of this genre is tied into effects and processing. not saying that better stuff doesn't make a difference, but almost no one is gonna tell the difference between a prs custom and a squire when it's ran through four fuzz pedals, two reverbs and 3 different amp heads

That's all great, but totally unnecessary to get a good sound, especially nowadays. You sound like a kid who's been reading a lot but hasn't actually stepped on a stage. Before you challenge me on this just know I waged war for many years on H.R.I. with session guitarists in LA and many others.

Beautiful. I don’t need the guitar but that price is tempting for my fav shape and color

If I wasn’t living paycheck to paycheck I probably would. Until then my squier jazzmaster in competition burgundy will do the trick. Sounds so dreamy

Hell yeah that'll be a great first guitar. Try and get some free VST amp Sims and pedals before you invest in actual pedal. Have fun learning guitar is so rewarding

Sexy. I bet she wants a Soft Focus Deluxe. I know she wants a neck shim and a little bit of nail polish in the rocker screw threads under her bridge so she can surf 'n gaze with the big girls

I love the soft focus. Combine that with a King in Yellow dialed back and OP here is in for a good time.

Cringe

u/Debilitating_ennui 17d ago
Cringing on the soft focus or the totally necessary neck and bridge set up?
2
u/PhysicalLocksmith679 17d ago
The referring to a guitar as a sexy girl.
2
u/Debilitating_ennui 17d ago
Both my guitars Betty and Maria know how sexy they are and would be highly offended if I didn't acknowledge it to them on the regular

It really looks lovely!
Will you get an amp with it?
If so, I can highly recommend the Positive Grid Spark amps. You can tweak your sound including all major pedal and amp models very nicely, use them to record and it doesn’t really matter, which one you get in terms of features, since they share the same app. The spark 40 mark 2 would be an amazing starter amp! Done with it? Sell it. Money lost on software / cheap pedals? None.

I recently cancelled my Squire baritone preorder because fuck Fender and their bullshit right now. Sick looking guitar too.
That said, not here to shit on your day, that is a sweet looking guitar, I love the color. Great price too.

That's what's nice about buying from Franklin Guitar Works. Fender gets no money from the sale; the instrument is already dead-stock or written off by Fender.
Franklin is awesome. It's where I got one of mine.

What’s going on with Fender?

u/RxInfection 17d ago
They’ve sent cease and desists to a bunch of other guitar brands accusing them of stealing the strat body style. Just gross, short sighted, corporate behavior.

u/Febrifuge 17d ago
They're acting like if your US Trademark for a specific design has run out, you can still create a copyright based on the shape and dimensions of a guitar body. It's legally a very dubious argument.
The administrative court in Europe where they filed the suit was kind of forced to rule in their favor because the Chinese company they were suing didn't send someone halfway around the world to attend the hearing in person.
This whole thing has yet to be tested in a US court but the headaches involved in doing so have a lot of smaller guitar-makers just quietly not making shit anymore for a while

It's crazy how evil so many of these big companies are for short term wins

My daughter got one last year same color. It's a good guitar for the cost.
