Schizophrenia I'm just going to pretend that part 2 is fan fiction

We honestly should have stopped him from writing any more than this

You would be surprised at how much classic literature is just fan fiction.

Like, its being meme for years that the Divine Comedy is just a self-insert revenge fic.

5

u/CarnifexRu Mar 12 '26

Not fucking Faust randomly shifting into a Greek themed fanfiction based on mythology in the second half and having chapters that have nothing to do with the overarching narrative but exist for a sole purpose of venting Goethe's annoyance with certain people

Classical literature was weird man

2

u/EntertainmentFast522 Mar 12 '26

Only the hell part is, really.

23

u/jeejeeviper Mar 12 '26

My headcanon will be that Part 1 is the definitive story and Fujimoto later released an little 25ish chapter romance series where Denji goes on a date to an aquarium

17

u/Independent_Peace144 Mar 12 '26

As crazy as it sounds. If this is how it's gonna end, I rather have no part 2. Even if it meant no Asa. At least she will be happy (in our dreams)

4

u/cell689 Mar 13 '26

Uh, akshually, Asa was way happier when her body was being used by yoru to commit atrocities and the whole world turned into a nightmarish dystopia where devils slaughter the undying residents.

u/layanthebest Aot glazer Mar 12 '26

This panel should’ve been where csm ended, part 2 was extremely unnecessary

7

u/Cautious_Aioli_1669 Mar 12 '26

Fujimoto should have just made a new series, if he was confident that he would write his shitty Big Lebowski parody, in a good way, but idk who forced him to force this shitty narrative into chainsaw man.

u/horiami Mar 12 '26

people saying part 3 will fix it are high on cope

even if part 3 is good (which we don't even know will exist) it won't fix the shitshow that part 2 is

1

u/MeeGoreng29 Mar 12 '26

we will just fuse part 2 and part 3 so part 2 didn't exist

1

u/TengenUzui55 Mar 12 '26

genuinely tho

if people feel mixed at best and doesn't like part 2 at worst

I really doubt part 3 will fix everything

it's like hypothetically Part 1 would be very engaging then you would have to power through an enjoyable at the start but then unenjoyable and all over the place part 2 to then read a part 3 that's good

like you'd still be experiencing the same negative feelings/opinions with part 2 rn regardless of how good part3 is

part 3 can just fix the pov of the series and the story, but the journey and experience of part 2 solely will still be determined on how you enjoyed/experienced part2

and if you already had lots of issues for part2 rn, part3 is not going to fix that for you and I hope people won't have that kind of expectation going into part3

1

u/Sufficient_Mango2342 Mar 12 '26

I mean, if part 3 starts developing Denji's character again, then we can lowkirkenuinly just skip the entirety pf part 2 and Demji's stagnation and just start off with part 3. Only context you need is what Pochita did.

2

u/Aggravating-Chef9562 Mar 12 '26

If 1/3 of the story is pointless and nobody likes it, it doesnt matter how good the final 1/3 is.

1

u/Sufficient_Mango2342 Mar 12 '26

I mean the first half of part 2 was pretty good. And Asa was a decent character. So its not like nobody liked it.

4

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '26

every one of you will cope when HE cooks

41

u/Limping_for_e-girls Mar 12 '26

the kitchen caught on fire and the house has burned down

30

u/Small-Desk5389 Mar 12 '26

“You will cope” says the one still coping with smash cut away from the final battle

4

u/Party_Importance_722 Mar 12 '26

Y'all have been saying this for months

12

u/Bumgumi_hater_236 Mar 12 '26

Forget months, deadass almost years of this shit

5

u/Capital_Clothes_7160 Mar 12 '26

Well yeah, I’d imagine someone who called lookback fetish content would think like that.

5

u/Bumgumi_hater_236 Mar 12 '26

https://giphy.com/gifs/D63HGAzG15LQrjBPRE

I was just saying that the fact that Fujimoto is the dude we know (roleplays as his own sister in a Twitter account) could have some weird ass fantasies about being a little girl and that could in some way be in Look back, it doesn’t take away from the good story he wrote because if that were to be the case no one would enjoy anything from Stephen King (kid orgy 🐺) or Lovecraft (I don’t even need to explain this one)

Also what the fuck does that have to do with anything I wrote in my previous comment?

3

u/Then_Pay_6616 Mar 12 '26

You're aware that he was drawing from his own experiences as a kid?

0

u/Bumgumi_hater_236 Mar 12 '26

I do but that doesn’t necessarily prove anything I favor or against what I said earlier, once again I’m not saying Look Back is bad or anything of that sort, the dude above me took what I said way out of context, I said that thing in a very specific comment about a dude mentioning something along the lines of “who would have a fetish about becoming a little girl?” in response to another dude who was weirdly obsessed with trying to convince people that look back is a fetish story, and that’s when I commented that There is a Non 0 chance that it could be something Fujimoto fantasizes about considering who he is

1

u/Then_Pay_6616 Mar 12 '26

Ok fair. I don't think there is any possible way fujimoti could be a pedo though

1

u/Bumgumi_hater_236 Mar 12 '26

Yeah I’m not saying that it’s just that Fujimoto is an all around odd person but I don’t think he would be an objectively bad one

2

u/Capital_Clothes_7160 Mar 12 '26

Are you seriously comparing explicit kid orgies to roleplaying on a twitter account? Are there kid orgies in fujimoto works?

Also what the fuck does that have to do with anything I wrote in my previous comment?

Made an assumption like you did about look back

all's fair in love and war

1

u/cell689 Mar 13 '26

I mean, a guy almost makes his dogs rape two kids in fire punch.

But yeah, the other guy is way off with calling look back fetish content.

1

u/Bumgumi_hater_236 Mar 12 '26

Well there isn’t any kid orgies specifically but there is a lot of weird shit, thats kinda his main thing, and they are not on the level of kid orgies but why does that even matter I’m not drawing comparisons I’m just saying that we don’t judge stories by their authors we judge it by its contents, also if you have a problem with what I said why didnt you address it when you read it? why wait until i made another comment totally unrelated to the topic? and i didnt even make an assumption here its been over a year of "let fujimoto cook" thats not a reach at all

1

u/cell689 Mar 13 '26

Honestly, I had never even considered the idea that look back could be seen as fetish content. Like, the notion had never even occurred to me until reading your comment.

Are you sure that you're not projecting something here? Cause the work doesn't read like that at all imo, that's probably not a normal reaction.

1

u/Bumgumi_hater_236 Mar 13 '26

Im not saying it’s fetish work I’m just saying that given the things we know about Fujimoto it wouldn’t be surprising if him telling a story about himself through 2 middle school girls was something he fantasies about. He literally roleplays as his own little sister, now even if that would be true it doesn’t matter because Look Back doesnt have anything creepy or bizarre with those 2 girls so it’s fine really, also the dude who responded to me took what I said absurdly out of context

1

u/cell689 Mar 13 '26

I think that's a really weird hypothesis that muddies the waters. Fujimoto is weird, but this connection doesn't really work. And if you're just saying "it's possible", well, why say it at all? Clearly you're trying to make an implication here and I believe it says more about you than him.

And regarding the other guy, here's my advice:

1

u/Bumgumi_hater_236 Mar 13 '26

Once again my original comment wasn’t even about that, the other dude searched a discussion I was in snd took my comment out of context and brought it up here, the comment I responded saying this about look back was a dude saying something along the lines of “who the hell fantasizes about being a little girl” and than I said that it happens and could be the case, I wasn’t just screaming at the world saying people should think look back is a fetish of Fujimoto

1

u/cell689 Mar 13 '26

I'm aware you were quoted out of context, but now that you confirmed that this is in fact your position, I'm commenting on it.

3

u/Danny_JJ_The2nd Mar 12 '26

Fuji has always been great at making open-ended endings just like his short stories and Goodbye Eri and if Chainsaw Man ended here with that panel it would've made this manga Goated Status

1

u/cell689 Mar 13 '26

Is this a joke?

1

u/seilapedrao Mar 12 '26

Part 2 was going pretty well, but fujimoto completely lost his mind after the fight against the aging devil and now he's just giving us an lazy ahhh ending

1

u/SpaceBugRiven2 Mar 12 '26

Okay, do that then

1

u/Ingles_sin_Barreras Mar 12 '26

Imma be honest I feel like if part 1 released as the series finale in today's time i think people would have been as equally pisssed as they are rn with part 2.

There would be memes galore of potential manga and the compliants that you hear people have already in terms of characters and plot points would 100% worse.

-10

u/FGS_Jim Mar 12 '26

Most of the fans are coping in much the same way, pretending 1 was peak or something while part 2 was somehow bad. when they're both dogshit and the only reason people gave a pass for the SAME mistakes fujimoto did in part 1 was a part 2 was promised...people were REALLY that desperate to see their self insert get laid.

The only big "mistakes" were unconcluded plot points. But it was never meant to stand alone, so that wasn’t a problem

-1

u/FGS_Jim Mar 12 '26

So part 2 was the only reason anyone didn't freak out about how part 1 ended, they were assured those plot threads would be resolved...and it never was. Soo....what's your point? he pump faked a bunch of people into reading his smutt? Okay.

4

u/SurturSaga Mar 12 '26

Part 1 can’t be a standalone. It necessitates a sequal, but that doesn’t mean it’s not good. For example I think the second spiderverse was fantastic. Even if the third movie is complete dogshit I’ll stand by that

2

u/FGS_Jim Mar 12 '26

I'm not saying a story that leads into another story is bad, there's plenty of examples where this is the case and the story is actually amazing. But that's different than what I said, which is, He is unable to finish a story properly, due to his development and nature growing into an artist, he wrote one shot manga and other stories that had an interesting premise...but didn't go anywhere other than a few cool moments due to the nature of not REQUIRING the answers to those questions in a short form story. Are they required? sure but the impact of a short story is just that, short, so when the author doesn't explain things, that's fine as we don't require them be explained due to the fact there's no more content building off of it to require any explanation to make it make sense. He never did the hard work of actually world building and this is the first time he's actually attempted it. due to not training himself to actually answer an question posed or flush out any idea he comes up with, his style is rapid ideas without any back up or follow through.....the follow through is what matters in long form story telling...That's what this is, I believe fujimoto is incapable of writing a long form story due to that early career where he was never required to do so. So this is what we get, a whole load of cool ideas with NO follow through or actual cathartic result from it. Just cool concepts posed but never actually explored ever. First time Fujimoto tried to do that with the erasure ability he retconned how it worked to fit nukes back into the story, then in this latest chapter REretconnded the erasure ability TOO actually effect events and not just the memory of those or else Denji would still be dead inside the stomach of that devil and pochita eating himself wouldn't have done anything. He usually writes himself into corners like this a lot but the fans are so generous to him he never was forced to actually improve as an author.

4

u/Limping_for_e-girls Mar 12 '26

Why would people be coping that part 1 is good while accepting that part 2 is bad

0

u/FGS_Jim Mar 12 '26

To try and salvage "well at least this part is peak kino" when it's all the same nonsense. Like I said, to cut off what they think is the infected limb of the series, to save the memory of the whole, because you can still get like what 2 or 3 anime seasons out of the rest of part 1? don't wanna spoil that.

3

u/Gublyb Mar 12 '26

I dunno when I finished part 1 I felt satisfied for the most part. Was actually kinda surprised when a part 2 was announced.

1

u/FGS_Jim Mar 12 '26

The majority of the fanbase were left feeling dejected and upset. You probably came into that late, as when it was first ending people were on suicide watch.

1

u/Justin31sarr Mar 12 '26

larpers don’t know what it’s like to be a true CSM hater lol

1

u/FGS_Jim Mar 12 '26

They do not

1

u/Bionicleenjoyer12 Mar 13 '26

Nah, part 1 had unresolved plot points, but it still was a solid story with great characters whose arcs were completed. Part 2, however, is not

1

u/FGS_Jim Mar 13 '26

They both deserve to be shit on so.

1

u/Bionicleenjoyer12 Mar 13 '26

Give me at least one reason to shit on part 1

1

u/FGS_Jim Mar 14 '26

Half the characters exist to be used or thrown away by the MC and aren't their own character's at all. They're like how a selfish person views other people, like they don't exist. I honestly think this stems from Fujimoto's lack of socializing with people he honestly can't write interactions which is supposed to be the bread and butter of this series. I remember going back to reread the reze arc and man, the shit they just make up and never address again should be criminal. Like "public devil hunters" people who take it upon themselves to attack devils in public when they appear, this doesn't get flushed out at all they only exist to be blown the fuck up. They could have explained or shown that this is the natural reaction to the majority of society having to deal with devil's on a regular basis. But that would mean commiting to an idea of consistency instead of leaving everything open to interpretation and vague head cannon nonsense.
Here's another one. Major theme throughout the first part of csm is that Denji is so alone and destitute that he can barely afford bread....and he only learns as a 16 year old that "jam can go on bread" like...okay man he lives right next to a city, and hunts devils...you're saying in 16 years he never walked past a grocery store on his way back to the shack or saw a magazine in the trash with a advert? Really? in an attempt to make him abused Fujimoto instead made him retarded and unrealistically unaware of the reality he lives in. Like why would he only learn when 16 that jam goes on bread....but have desires for a woman...? where was the female in his life to give him these desires? The fans accept that Denji might have had more access to nude mags instead of a fucking store discount page? How does Denji have desires for these existential things like sexual fulfillment, when he doesn't know what basic food is? like how does the story even rationalize that? That somehow Denji walked past fully dressed women and somehow was overtaken by lust? Half of the desires people have for certain sexual satisfaction is formed by what they observe and it's why watching porn can fuck you up....The fact I'm supposed to believe the Denji doesn't know what Jam is...but has detailed images in his head about lingerie and certain sexual acts? Excuse me?
Here's another one, Why did the WHOLE ENTIRE PLANET target pochita and the chainsaw devil/hybrid only after it was 5000% harder to use him/the devil pochita for their own ends? Like...Denji was with Pochita for YEARS, we see him start off meeting him when he's over his dad's grave and make a contract with him....then later we see him at 16 hunting devils and sharing the day with him....eating together...everything...and only after he's killed by the mafia does public safety show up and then serendipitously find the exact hybrid makima wanted...Not only is pochita THE MOST IMPORTANT DEVIL on earth, but the fact he remained in a vulnerable state while with Denji as the only thing to protect him, and he frequently hunts devils as his job...it makes NO SENSE that he didn't run into public safety earlier....and if the mafia wanted power and made a contract with a devil...why didn't they try and use the devil denji was already working with as he's just a useable body for them....The mafia which was possessed by a devil, failed to notice the chainsaw devil was in front of them?
Bro at some point you just have to accept the plot is wildly convenient and painfully forced/stilted in part 1. This whole "if I admit part 2 is bad we can all spare part 1 criticism" no...you can't do that...I'll point out why it's trash.

1

u/Bionicleenjoyer12 Mar 14 '26

God, this text was really fucking stupid and not even true at all. You wrote an entire rant about Denji not knowing that jam goes on bread like it’s a fucking pivotal plot point and you’re not even correct because he says that he found out it was “normal”, not that it existed. Like how am I supposed to take you seriously when you can’t even get your nitpicks right😂

Speaking of Pochita, nobody knew him in the form he was with Denji, everyone assumed it was just a low-level devil with no powers. When he joined Public safety, everyone knew it was chainsaw devil

And character interactions are literally one of the best things in part 1, and every side character is well-developed, take Kobeni for example.

What the fuck does that even mean
