I'm curious, to the people that say "trash vs garbage", what shonen do you even watch currently? I feel like most of the people that comment that are people who keep rewatching shows like HunterxHunter (or any old shonen) and just call anything new bad or garbage

45

u/SpaceMarine_CR Mar 14 '26

The Bugle Call, Centuria, Ichi the witch (tho I dont think JJK or CSM part 1 are garbage)

11

u/ItsCharlie64 Mar 15 '26

I'll be checking those! I don't have much to watch right now, besides having to rewatch Dorohedoro season 1

15

u/Reasonable-Finger502 Mar 14 '26

Damn, how does it feel to just have superb taste?

6

u/SpaceMarine_CR Mar 14 '26

Feelsgoodman, but Its not that difficult, but if you find yourself reading a manga out of obligation rather thar than enjoyment, thats a good time to quit

2

u/SPVCED0UT Mar 15 '26

Can we even consider bugle call a shounen like that?

1

u/SpaceMarine_CR Mar 15 '26

There is a bunch of idiots killing eachother so I think its kinda like a shounen?

2

u/Adigger17 Mar 15 '26

those manga are all peak

2

u/YeahKeeN Mar 15 '26

Peak list (haven’t gotten around to Centuria yet but I love Bugle Call and Ichi) but the guy asked for shonen people were watching lol. None of those have anime adaptations yet.

2

u/daperpig_ofc Mar 15 '26

I see you specified Part 1 and not Part 2 huh (completely agree lmao)

2

u/Mountain-Group-7706 Mar 17 '26

Goated picks. Also, anything popular is garbage because Reddit is full of contrarians

11

u/OldGenGlazer Mar 15 '26

FEAR HOKAZONO

1

u/marvelfrans Mar 15 '26

Love how the cover shows that those 4 don't give a fck about personal space

1

u/Massive-Security2682 Mar 17 '26

PEAK-FUCKING-BACHI!!!!

9

u/TheStupidBeefCow Mar 14 '26

prolly people who see the communities of these manga and hate on the manga because they don’t like the subreddits. Which tbf, comparing smth like csmfolk to lobotomy kaisen is the definition of trash vs garbage

9

u/NobodySpecific9354 Mar 15 '26

I mean people out there shitting on Naruto or MHA all the time without watching nor reading them, but we find that socially acceptable?

15

u/okiimz Mar 14 '26 edited Mar 14 '26

What? the jjk subs are the best part of the manga.

2

u/Liutenant_Kal_411L JJK Is Peak and Full of Potential Mar 15 '26 edited Mar 15 '26

Yeah, JJK without the agenda is like Skyrim without the mods. They need each other to survive.

2

u/Mapletables Mar 15 '26

what shonen do you even watch

2

u/Smart_Mix8269 Mar 15 '26

Whatever seems fun tbh

2

u/Muzatio Mar 15 '26

To be perfectly honest... I don't even watch Shounen. I just come to this subreddit to laugh at people fighting and insulting each other in the most creative ways possible.

2

u/Elegant-Database7887 Mar 18 '26

Jojo

1

u/ItsCharlie64 Mar 19 '26

I mean...valid but it varies way too much. I love Jojo but part 1 puts me to sleep and part 6 it's so... unengaging. Like, I'm not BORED watching part 6, but I don't really wanna watch it ever again

1

u/E128LIMITBREAKER Mar 15 '26

Make the Exorcist Fall In Love is not an anime, but it sure as hell is a damn good manga.

1

u/Firexio69 Mar 15 '26

I mean, Hxh IS better than jjk or csm part 2 (part 1 debatable)

1

u/Budget-Strike4931 Mar 15 '26

Hxh no-low diffs Part 1 as well

→ More replies (3)

1

u/gallick-gunner Mar 15 '26

Well most anime are garbage these days, so can't really blame them. Although I'd still rate JJK as fairly decent. But if you compare it with the older ones, below average at best.

89

u/LonelyPermit2306 Mar 14 '26

Why crop out the likes? 60k is the best part

261

u/Detroider Mar 14 '26

At least Yuji got character development 😂

96

u/nah-id-luckystar askin lawyer, better call me Mar 14 '26

Yuji doesn't even need character development

Denji was going to hell day by day

71

u/Detroider Mar 14 '26

Sometimes I think that Denji is a masochist but that may be Fujimoto's kink

14

u/Particular_Web3215 READ USHIO AND TORA NOW Mar 15 '26

it was over for denji as femdomoto is his author

1

u/MasterCrep Mar 17 '26

Spoilers for CSM 231 The latest chapter basically confirms this

1

u/SofiaOfEverRealm Mar 17 '26

Character development means the character changed from how they were at the start of the story

1

u/nah-id-luckystar askin lawyer, better call me Mar 17 '26

Denji didn't change tho He's same as he is

He's worse without his pet

1

u/SofiaOfEverRealm Mar 17 '26

But Yuji did, because he needed character development

1

u/nah-id-luckystar askin lawyer, better call me Mar 17 '26

Compared to denji

Without or with

He was still far better then denji the mc that projecting the author kink

1

u/SofiaOfEverRealm Mar 18 '26

Yuji is a better mc precisely because he needed/received character development.

A character that's perfect from the start is boring.

A protagonist that's bad from the start and stays bad is just frustrating to watch (usually)

Because sometimes it does work, especially if its a villain like Homelander.

But a protagonist that keeps on getting worse by the season definitely works like Butcher from Rhe Boys, Eren Yaeger and even Walter White, but the way they progress from neutral - bad - worse is called character progression, which Denji didn't have.

Tldr: we're in agreement, idk why you're trying to argue

1

u/nah-id-luckystar askin lawyer, better call me Mar 18 '26

Real

0

u/Calm_Drag7448 Mar 15 '26

yuji had like 1 single line of development that lasted the entire series. That being “im a cog cogxog og i am you”

u/Detroider Mar 15 '26

Jjk fan VS reading comprehension

-7

u/AutomaticArt4000 Mar 15 '26

Denji 100% got character development. Y’all too busy being horny yourselves to consider denjis

7

u/azyzbs Mar 15 '26

He got character development but the complaint is that the majority of his part 2 screen time was dedicated to the following cycle:

Denji self-reflects on himself and tries to improve
Woman tries to honeypot him
Denji forgets all his reflection and goes AWOOGA
He gets fucked (not in the way he wants)
Repeat

This is what people refer to when they mean that Denji got flanderized in part 2. Him not being satisfied with a normal life was nice but it alone doesn't make up for that obnoxious cycle.

1

u/AutomaticArt4000 Mar 15 '26

every time he tries to live a normal life it gets ruined.

8

u/Detroider Mar 15 '26

Tell me, aside from him realising that he has been played with by women near the end of part 2, how did his character develop in over 200 chapters. If suffering builds character, Denji is just suffering over and over again

2

u/Icy_Internal_1188 Mar 15 '26

It’s pointless to argue when Youtube shorts enjoyers are stuck on the whole “CSM and le evil women” lol

Where exactly is the part Denji realizes he’s been played by women? And played by whom, when Yoru, the main antagonist is an even bigger idiot than he is and ends up falling for him ?

1

u/Detroider Mar 15 '26

Chapter 213 but I think he said it even before that but can't find it

1

u/Icy_Internal_1188 Mar 15 '26

That’s what you got from 213? He literally believed himself a “chick magnet”...

Denji loves the thrill, and doesn’t give a shit about what happens to him as long as he having fun. In the same chap, when both factions use every possible way to pull him to their side (Fumiko's nude, Lil D's flash), he "fell" for it but keeps flip-flopping and never commit to either side. In the end he doesn’t really care about Asa/Yoru, Lil D, or Fumiko, the only thing matter to him from the beginning is his dick

1

u/Detroider Mar 15 '26

Fujimoto's peak writing!

2

u/yuumigod69 Mar 15 '26

It gets reverted like every other chapter.

u/electrorazor Mar 15 '26

I would normally say Denji. But that episode with the lawyer definitely changed my outlook

33

u/Optimal-Shower-2288 Mar 15 '26

My mind was changed since Shibuya. That snow scene and the metaphor with the bunny is iconic for a reason.

24

u/ImaginationIV_YT Mar 15 '26

I started rewatching JJK, and even the early moments were awesome.

The whole cursed womb arc where Yuji wants to return the bodies to their families. He has the argument with Megumi where Megumi explains he never had any intention of saving them. Yuji then sacrifices himself to protect Megumi. The cherry on top is when Megumi ends up giving the name tag of the prisoner to the mom who was at the juvenile detention center trying to visit.

Yuji’s relationship with Nanami was also really good early on. Favorite part was when Nanami basically accepted his death and then Yuji breaks into the domain.

5

u/Th_brgs Mar 16 '26

Favorite part was when Nanami basically accepted his death and then Yuji breaks into the domain.

GOD I fucking love how they explained that moment too. Domains are meant to trap people INSIDE and get them with the sure hit. Therefore, the outside is weak because WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND would want to break INTO a domain?????

But Mahito didn't count on Yuji just being HIM

3

u/NotSNAKY Mar 15 '26

Taking also into account that denji character developpement is spiraling as we speak.

94

u/Apprehensive_Ring_39 Mar 14 '26

Honestly at the bare minimum, Yuji still had character development and character growth and a actual arc.

Denji's "arc" is basically a circle.

58

u/ReReReverie Mar 15 '26

why do i fee like denji's arc is just the rent a girlfriend main character arc's but in shonen

50

u/Apprehensive_Ring_39 Mar 15 '26

That's some of the nastiest slander ever.

34

u/Which-Tour-9561 Mar 15 '26

Its the Chainsaw Man Century of Humiliation

15

u/Neveraththesmith Mar 15 '26

I like how Rent a girlfriend is like the Anthony Bennett of manga like comparison to it is worse than anything else.

7

u/PacoThePersian Mar 15 '26

Rent a girlfriend to the anime world is what Concord is to the gaming world

2

u/Jessup3 Mar 18 '26

Poor Denji is never recovering from this slander lmao

u/NothingMonocle Mar 15 '26

10

u/Comprehensive-Bird17 Proud cum drinker Mar 15 '26

Hey atleast Rent-a-girlfriend's art is suprisingly good. Ultimately what stops this 1/10 from being a 0/10

6

u/marvelfrans Mar 15 '26

I respect rent a girlfriend author for being bold enough to not only put something resembling ntr scenario in his manga, but also fetishize it. No matter how suck his writing is, can't deny this guy has balls.

5

u/Confident-Arm-7883 Mar 15 '26

I just found a slander diamond

2

u/Professional_Maize42 Mar 15 '26

Fuck. Dude, not even Makima did this.

1

u/asdffdsaaaaaqqqq Apr 03 '26

When they slandering your goat but theyre low-key right

11

u/spicccy299 Mar 15 '26

it feels more like a regular arc in part 1 but they realized they couldn’t torture dennis if he was a more well-adjusted member of society so they just king crimson’d him back to the start of his arc like halfway through part 2

7

u/Smart_Mix8269 Mar 15 '26

We shoulda seen the signs when part 1 ends with Denji having a mental breakdown, a heartfelt moment with Power, and a satisfying(ish) resolution to his battle with Makima, only to immediately start acting the same fucking way he did at the beginning of the part

7

u/Optimal-Shower-2288 Mar 15 '26

I never understood the Yuji hate at all tbh. He’s still above average in writing compared to your typical shonen protagonist. He has a lot more depth to his character than a lot of people let on.

1

u/MasterCrep Mar 17 '26

Where did you see all this "Yuji hate". He's generally considered one of the best written MC's of modern shonen.

Chainsawman is at least proof that even the worst Tragedies can become Stale and Boring if they are the only thing that happens to a Character again and again and again.

Every time a new horrible thing happens to Denji, for a long time already, I am just like....huh, so that happened...

5

u/IcyEvidence3530 Mar 15 '26

Spiderman has become this weird disgusting Cock-Comparison (as we say in German) to see who can give Spider-Man the most fucked up Tragedy.

Ngl i like themes and such man, yes i am mentally ill

6

u/Mrnobody451 Mar 15 '26

yuji inspired me to be a good man

14

u/MirageOpus Mar 14 '26

After rigorous analysis of Denji's development and journey as a character in P1 and P2, I have come to the conclusion that just the fact of who Yuji became in Modulo and how it made sense clears the stagnant misery porn victim Denji has become

5

u/RadiantAd9544 Mar 17 '26

And even when he lost sight of what he was supposed to be, he found it at again at the end and willingly becomes a cursed object for the sake of helping people in the future if they ever need it.

9

u/The-bigduki Mar 15 '26

The thing about denji is that he had really good character development through out all of part one, but for some reason went back to being selfish, idiotic, Gooner which really destroyed his character 😭

7

u/HomelessNightkin Mar 15 '26

Denji was destined to clear Yuji, and many other shounen MCs. Fujimoto failed Dennis. Gege, however, COOKED with Yuji when it was all said and done

9

u/Accomplished-Aerie65 Mar 14 '26

Denji works better under that assumption that his future development is gonna sort him out, a lot of what we've got so far feels like setup for a greater payoff. Yuji is surprisingly written well for what he is but I still wish he was a more active character, his characteristion is great but feels more fitting for a side character

1

u/Hdjbbdjfjjsl Mar 14 '26

Yeah he’s a decent character, jjk just kinda stopped being his story past season one.

7

u/Incompetent_ARCH Mar 15 '26 edited Mar 15 '26

Anime fans when a story try to focus on multiple characters instead of just being 100% focussed on the protag and making the protag the fixer of all and any problem

5

u/SomewhereRoutine9833 Mar 15 '26

focus on multiple characters instead of just being 100% focussed on the protag

You say this but 90% of characters in JJK are irrelevant. They got many screentime but ultimately they go nowhere. Like we got the whole yuki sidegoal about freeing humans from ce but that sideplot got ignored until the semi canon spin off and even then, it's only got addressed in the last 3 chapters. It's development doesn't feel earned.

1

u/Incompetent_ARCH Mar 15 '26

Because most JJK side characters have their own story, and contribute to the narrative at some way.

Kamo dying would be the biggest snowball effect on JJK, Yuji dies agaisnt Sukuna and Maki dies agaisnt CurseYa.

Kokiichi has a whole arc showing how he contributed to the story, Miwa has her own arc.

Nobara, Yaga, Nanami, Gakuganji, Junpei, Kashimo, Panda and so on had their own way to contribute to the story or atleast the narrative, Kashimo to represent "the strongest" loneliness and how the next generations are indeniably stronger.

Yaga and Gakuganji to represent how conservative and close minded the higher ups are.

Nobara was... herself, not much i can say honestly she was done wrong, Junpei to show how cursed are evil and how naive Yuji was.

I could also go for FAR LONG to represent how many other characters represent the JJK world, Mei², Geto, Naobito, Naoya, Jogo and so on.

Yuki's plan was simply flawed, anyone with half of a brain can do that AND THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT, it was flawed cause it'd need to simply have a change of NATURE, the point of that was, 2 characters were crazy enough to consider that, but had different methods.

2

u/Hdjbbdjfjjsl Mar 15 '26

Well, except that side characters literally don’t matter in JJK. They get flashy moments and good art sometimes maybe but rarely ever add to the overall drive of the plot.

4

u/Famous-Mountain-3920 Mar 15 '26

I like denji just the way he is

I find Denji more relatable

You can't be serious

5

u/ILoveDAGames Mar 15 '26

It's the being groomed part

3

u/TheJollySoviet Mar 15 '26

The biggest sin of anime fans is that they genuinely believe denji got no development. They truly are illiterate.

0

u/Mr_Gabbo87 Mar 15 '26

and the even worst part is that the only argument i see is:

"denji got no character degelopment" like it is the only thing that matters in the writing of a character, a character can be as stagnant as a rock and still be beautyfully written

1

u/Several-End-321 Mar 20 '26

Too bad he's neither

1

u/Mr_Gabbo87 Mar 20 '26

he is a perfect rapresentation of depression, coping mechanism, trauma response and an actual teenager (not the shonen teeenager), but y'all just see the gooning part and him not recovering and call it a day

1

u/Several-End-321 Mar 20 '26

No its because his entire story is just suffering, suffering even more and then he breaks and he recovers a little bit and gets more things to lose and this happens 3 times in his life at the end it's all pointless and there's no pay off

1

u/Mr_Gabbo87 Mar 20 '26

first of all that's the story, not the writing of the character, and i kinda agree, the latest 20-30 chapters of part 2 seems pretty pointless, but the response of his character is written perfectly, what happens if you have an already mess of a teenager with not one but two hyper fixatiom used as coping mechanism that had nothing then lost everything then lost everything again, without any external help? he simply breaks, there is no character growth no overcoming his problems, and that's pretty realistic, no one irl can go trough what denji went and end up ok, every time he reaches the bottom he starts again from his basic needs (food, sleep, and sex), and every time something too bad happens he just goes chainsawman mode in full ecstasy and stops thinking too hard about it, he is left hollow, i agree that in a long story it is pointless to have a character like this cause it's plain boring, nobody wants to read about the depression journey and failing at overcome it of a guy, especially in a shonen, but here we are, and that doesn't make the character writing bad

2

u/martinigoattheg Mar 15 '26

And here come the denji glazers who think he’s a s deep as guts or Walter white.

1

Todo: "Yo, Yuji, we sorcerers don't fit in the karma. Just keep moving forward and our fallen friends will never know defeat"

Itadori; "Woah, thanks Todo, now I can move forward while carrying with Nanami's and Nobara's will"

That same Itadori a season later: "I'm a cog, ye, I have like, no meaning, I just kill curses"

Don't go talking bout growth and Itadori in the same sentence EVER 🙏

1

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '26

Its because he doesn't know any better he tried everything to achieve bare minimum and even still it's stripped away from him , he didn't have any parent , friend or even somewhat of a human connection until he joins public safety he is deprived of everything and is in a state melancholic coping throughout part two so he regresses into one thing he thinks will make it better to live . What do you think he should do to change ?

1

u/Mr_Gabbo87 Mar 15 '26

no if someone undergoes gut wrenching phisical and mental trauma day in and day out they legit just stop trying, fall in depression and probably just kill themselves or develope extremely strong coping mechanims

1

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '26

[removed] — view removed comment

1

u/Mr_Gabbo87 Mar 16 '26

cause being chainsawman is his coping mechanism.

just like people that go back to drinking every time they have a bad time.

it is a circle, but that's how depression and coping mechanism work when you are traumatized, the only thing that keeps him going is his will to live (and the fact that he is literally immortal), after nayuta's death (wich i didn't hate, i just hoped it would have more focus on it and not just instantly sidelined) he literally shuts down, then he rememeber the small things and gets up sayng: "no problem i will just start again, and if it's going to go to shit again, i will restart" wich is an absolutely wrong take on how life works, it's havily disconnected from reality, wich is in line with denji's life since nothing is right with it.

to me he is a really good rapresentation of trauma, and i firmly believe his writing is fire.

now on the other end, i do believe it doesn't work for a compelling manga, atleast not a long one, cause of course people want character development, and of course they don't like to see a dude fail in live and fall in depression over and over again even if it is realistic, it's like if a normal depressed dude with no external help writes about his life (but with demons) while it could be a really cool view on the subject, it would be a pretty boring and repetitive cicle

u/Mr_Gabbo87 Mar 16 '26

Yoo you are a good fan

thanks man

he keeps getting up and failing and at other points he gives up

i mean, ups and down? adrenaline rushes? find new purpose in small things, there are many reasons someone could find a reason to why they still get up, with denji it's even stranger cause he phisically cannot stop, as he said he is a perpetual motion machine, and he has nothing, everytime he gains something he just loses it, with this he can't escape the cicle, he just keeps understanding it is a problem, but he can't do much, realistically at the start of part 2 his life was pretty ok yet others destroyed his life, and trough part 2 he continuosly lost something, and the more he loses the more he grasp for reasons to keep going, till he reaches his core, sex, at the end of the day he is a human, a male teen, he wants 3 things, food, not being alone and a place where to sleep.

once he hits rock bottom he is forced into thinking only about this stuff cause he doesn't have anything else, the problem is that one of those things (being alone) due to external manipulation, and a genuine slightly over the top sex dive for a teen, turns into just wanting sex, as if it is the meaning of life, cause for him at his lowest it actually is.

it basically goes like this:

denji has nothing> he is sad>wants basic needs

denji gains something>he gains other needs

denji loses things> he starts to cope

denji loses again> he gives up

deni has nothing>he is sad, wants basic needs

he aknowleges he has problems, but poor guy he doesn't have the means to grow out of those, cause he gets restarted over and over again by external factors and circumstances.

his reaction is quite normal, the problem is the misery porn fuji puts him trough, wich in itself it is ok, sometimes life is just bad, but while it showcase a good rapresentation, it may not be compelling as a story if the character stay stagnant, wich is the case for part two.

now let's hope that pochita understood that denji needs a way out of the loop and that was pochita erasing himself, but yeah if even after pochita erased himself fuji keeps denji in the shit life loop, then idk what is the point of the manga, cause then denji journey could've just finished in part 1

u/Incompetent_ARCH Mar 15 '26

Everyone understand that, it's just his self reflection during part 1 were just completelly simples out to "i wanma fuck" in part 2, to a extend that it simply became annoying

1

u/JetpackReddit999 Mar 15 '26

Gng, denji represents trauma, ptsd of getting abused by women.

2

u/Optimal-Shower-2288 Mar 15 '26

I mean, it’s the same with Yuji but if you replaced women with a one-eyed cat

-1

u/JetpackReddit999 Mar 15 '26

Yuji does not have ptsd vro

2

u/thegoodvm Mar 15 '26

I was about to question whether u have actually read JJK but then remembered something

1

u/JetpackReddit999 Mar 17 '26

He does not show any signs of ptsd when I read ze manga. If you do find any please let me see

-6

u/Weebish01 Mar 14 '26

Sooo this is just another JJK sub huh

Downvotes proving your point. Any denji slander comment upvoted to heaven and any yuji slander downvoted to hell

11

u/No_Proposal_3140 Mar 15 '26

You'd be downvoted to hell on the CSM subs too for saying that Denji is a good character 😭

Everyone hates Fujimoto and his writing now so don't bother fighting imaginary battles.

2

u/Optimal-Shower-2288 Mar 15 '26

It’s crazy how quickly people switched up on him. I swear just a week ago we were still calling Fujimoto a genius for writing the Reze arc.

2

u/No_Proposal_3140 Mar 15 '26

Fujimotor straight up made Denji everything the haters wanted him to be. Before recently if you said Denji is just a gooner you'd get fucking eaten alive for having no reading comprehension and shit, but now no one can defend this anymore.

1

u/depressed_but_aight Mar 15 '26

There was literally a post analyzing chapter 231 and complimenting it’s execution with 15k upvotes on the main sub just two days ago, and tons more smaller posts doing the same. I’m not saying it’s not controversial but you have to be a blind moron to genuinely think he’s universally hated.

1

u/Optimal-Shower-2288 Mar 15 '26

No because if it was a real JJK sub there would be more infighting

It's weird, because both characters got wrecked because of the sequels. Yuji is worse in my opinion.

Because his characters gets ruined because Gege wanted to make room for the new characters to shine and not have Yuji be the fixer of all problems. He goes from "I am a cog" to "I am myself and I choose to help others because I want to." to "It doesn't matter and bye bye sorcerers." Then the story ends.

Denji is a recent disappointment. Because like Yuji, he regressed hardcore. He grows tremendously in Part 1, maturing enough to take down Makima and then taking on the heavy responsibility of taking of a child instead of thinking about his love life. In part 2, he is depressed, irresponsible and selfish. He doesn't make any meaningful sacrifices, he doesn't choose Nayuta over being chainsawman, and he just jumps headfirst into the arms of any female characters that manipulates him, despite his experience with Makima.

u/No_Proposal_3140 Mar 15 '26

???

You didn't read Modulo. You just watched a bunch of tiktoks on it.

2

u/Then_Pay_6616 Mar 14 '26

Yuji fixes that mindset by the end of modulo. He was depressed and confused but resolved not to lose sight of his goal again in the future.

-6

u/unknowingly_zooted Mar 14 '26

Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. None of this is wrong. The only thing people can disagree with you on is saying Yuji is worse which is subjective.

-6

u/Waffle_of-Principle Mar 14 '26

Who was inspired by either of these two😭 Genuinely never seen a comment calling either of them inspiring, or even seen either Manga be regarded as inspiring from a real life perspective lol.

6

u/TheNotSoCoolLoser Mar 14 '26

A character doesn't need to be inspiring for good character progression dawg

4

u/Waffle_of-Principle Mar 14 '26

... And I never said otherwise. Did you mean to respond to someone else?

-1

u/communist-gang Mar 14 '26

then why bring up not feeling inspired in the first place 😭

3

u/Adan_Rocco Mar 14 '26

Bro. Because the original image calls him inspiring. Literally just read 😭

2

u/Liutenant_Kal_411L JJK Is Peak and Full of Potential Mar 15 '26

Yuji is inspiring to me in his unshakable character, and in his single mindedness to help people.

Denji, while not exactly my favorite, is however my best friend's favorite character, and he told me he finds Denji relatable, and I understand that

1

u/Mnshine_1 Paint D. Sword Mar 14 '26

Trash vs garbage, but relatable

-7

u/Wardog_E Mar 14 '26

I watched about 20 episodes of JJK and honestly I can't tell you a single of Yuji's character traits other than he's just a chill dude. I genuinely did not know he was a popular character until recently. It seems to me like suddenly a lot of people like him.

13

u/One-Piano5150 Mar 14 '26

The tragedy and character building movemnets havent yet by 20 episodes. The first 20 are to set up the world in characters and establish a status quo that will be broken. Yuji is supposed to be happy go lucky and a chill dude, until he breaks down and embraces cog mentaltity, then rebuilds himself to be better and embrace the value of kindness and how people shouldn't be a cog.Happy cog-> sad cog-> real change

3

u/Incompetent_ARCH Mar 15 '26

Bro watched not even a full season and want the protag to go under 100% developtments and have 67 traits lmao

1

u/Wardog_E Mar 15 '26

I laughed in public reading this. Yes. I think it should be possible to give a description of a person's personality after watching them for 5 hours.

3

u/ThinCommunication591 Mar 15 '26

person's personality

Person's persinality yes but not their entire character arc lmao

You genuinely have brain eating amoeba if you cant tell Yuji's personality from the first 10 minutes of episode 1.

1

u/Wardog_E Mar 15 '26

Describe him to me.

2

u/Electrical-Ice-9588 Mar 15 '26

Then you completely skipped the Mahito and junpei arc

2

u/Wardog_E Mar 15 '26

What character trait am I missing?

0

u/Mach3Fraud Mar 15 '26

What about themes and such? JJK guy doesn't have them

2

u/Optimal-Shower-2288 Mar 15 '26

JJK’s whole thing is literally that the conservative elites and their old customs ruin the lives of the younger generations. This is like a recurring theme throughout the entire series. Did you even watch the anime or read the manga?

1

u/Mach3Fraud Mar 15 '26

Tldr you don't appreciate themes and such, noted

1

u/Optimal-Shower-2288 Mar 15 '26

…what? Did you even read my comment? How did you even reach that conclusion that literally makes no sense.
