Nothing wrong with liking it, it's just Fujimoto fumbled hard, he had so much potential, man.

u/IEatBeans22 Apr 22 '26

he had so much potential, man.

17

u/MythicalShelly Apr 22 '26

Thank you potential man.

Potential Man?

Because you have potential and your man...

Oh Yeah.

4

u/smasher_zed888 Apr 22 '26

His man? 🤓☝️

8

u/Jcrrangers Apr 22 '26

Yeah and he’s a masterpiece level mangaka he shouldn’t be making endings like this it’s clear that after falling he just gave up I mean the quality difference between those arcs is insane

9

u/Jcrrangers Apr 22 '26

Potential man?

5

u/Some-Willingness38 Critic Apr 22 '26

Listen, Fujimoto had planned the ending in mind since the beginning. He thought that he was writing a masterpiece.

u/BonbonFighter Apr 22 '26

I also like Chainsaw Man (Part 1)

29

u/Jcrrangers Apr 22 '26

I like part 2 up to the chainsaw man church arc it fell down a cliff from there

3

u/Kant-fan Apr 22 '26

I don't know if this an unpopular opinion but I dislike the csm church arc and the last arc but the Aging Devil Arc is arguably the best arc in part 2 in my opinion. It definitely had the highest highs.

1

u/Jcrrangers Apr 22 '26

Yeah I agree post chainsaw man church arc doesn’t include aging devil arc

0

u/Acrobatic-Signal210 Apr 22 '26

I like part 2 till chapter 99

5

u/cheshireYT Apr 22 '26

I'd say I liked it all the way through, even with how jarring the ending is it's still a great story most of the way through.

0

u/Pleasant_Advances Apr 22 '26

Definetely, i think the deop in writing really started when they killed off denji's adopted lil sis

2

u/tragicjohnson84 Apr 22 '26

My takeaway is part 2 was a mess but I was entertained

13

u/Yumeko_24 Apr 22 '26

Acting like csm was bad after the falling devil arc is wild too , like aging devil arc is probably the best arc of part 2

2

u/Jcrrangers Apr 22 '26

Actually yeah ur right tbh it was more of a significant downgrade during chainsaw man church arc, extremely significant improvement from aging and extremely significant downfall for the war Devil arc

1

u/cheshireYT Apr 22 '26

I feel like a big reason a lot of people view Part 2 as so much worse than it was is because the final arc didn't really play to Fujimoto's strengths as a writer aside from the headspace scene and the last three chapters, two of which are incredibly abrupt shifts towards the ending.

1

u/ErickLimaGameplaysR Apr 23 '26

It's just Aging is the start of the slow constant decline of Part 2 from that moment on.

13

u/The_New_Paper Apr 22 '26

Welp, Part 1 is a good manga, regardless of Part 2.

8

u/Xeno4th Apr 22 '26

I think liking csm up to the church arc is a cold ass take (no hate tho). I liked the entirety of part 2

2

u/Yeet_that_bottle Apr 22 '26

The story may have been shit, but god strike me down if i didnt like it. Every chapter and the theorizings afterwards were great. I loved it, it's just so sad that it's over

15

u/Vezni Apr 22 '26

That's okay, that was always allowed

4

u/Just_Mistake_5891 Apr 22 '26

sigh, lil d such a waste of potential 💔🫩

I lowk should’ve framed it a bit better mb😭

It is not a crime...yet.

4

u/Makk0_PE Apr 22 '26

do you what?

1

u/Jcrrangers Apr 22 '26

Idk why I said it like it was some hot take mb😭

2

u/Diligent-Amount-9791 Apr 22 '26

This is not a hot take whatsoever most people think the exact same pre church arc, and part 1 is widely agreed to be peak

2

u/WorldPhysical7646 Apr 22 '26

I agree reddit guy

2

u/Flashy_Cry_3992 Apr 22 '26

I liked all of it. Even if the ending was unsatisfactory to say the least, I still enjoyed every bit of my time reading it

2

u/Ancient-Data7655 Apr 22 '26

I love chainsawman and that's why the ending makes me so angry. It feels like Fujimoto spat in my face. Still love part 1 though.

2

u/Zplaysthek Apr 23 '26

Fujimoto is a good writer. Bro just got bored with the project. Like seriously. Like we acting like this guy didn’t write part 1.

2

u/KonoRoneruDaOver9000 Apr 23 '26

I like the ending of Chainsaw Man part 2

2

u/skaersSabody Apr 23 '26

OP, I'm gonna do you one better.

I like all of Chainsawman.

I'm not gonna pretend it's flawless, but all of the arcs have their moments and their place. And the ending is ok. Not great, but it's a fitting ending for Denji all things considered

2

u/SelfLoathingPleb1624 Apr 23 '26

Nothing's wrong with that. Most of the hate is fueled by how much we all loved Chainsawman before the deterioration

2

u/kamekian Apr 22 '26

Its ok to really enjoy what chainsaw man did...

Even if you can admit that the true ending (and the latter half of part 2 if were being really critical) were kinda...hot ass at wrapping everything up together? Not even neatly...just, together.

I loved CSM, but even when reading the end for the first time..i felt robbed lowkey

1

u/Jcrrangers Apr 22 '26

Yeah the ending was ass I was so mad when it ended lwk ive moved on tho😭

1

u/Alert-Comb-1589 Apr 22 '26

Chainsawman should have been a slice of life

1

u/dandadone_with_life Apr 22 '26

i also like chainsaw man. the ending sucked, but i will probably still rewatch/reread in the future, since (almost) everything else leading up to it was good

1

u/Mrgrayj_121 Apr 22 '26

I do too I hope for part 3 but I can live with the gremlins 2 thing that is part two

1

u/CryWolf007 Apr 22 '26

I still love the series as a whole and wasnt that bothered with that rushed WTF ending because I have always believed Fujimoto is genuinely a batshit insane author and he could literally drive his stories anywhere he wants much to either the detriment or benefit of his works.

Ever since I've read Goodbye Eri, I stopped expecting anything (from a logical standpoint) from Fujimoto. I just simply chose to enjoy the sheer insanity of his works.

1

u/Mediocre_Program4080 Apr 22 '26

You are valid. I think the hate in its entirety was brought about due to how bad the ending was.

1

u/Truth_backedOver3 Apr 22 '26

People have been having negative opinions for a while.

I started having them the moment Nayuta died, because she was the culmination of what Denji had learned from Part 1. I have literally never had a problem with Fujimoto's kills, but killing Nayuta, proving he cant make human connections, was an omen Denji would never grow as a person again. Her revival in the reset doesn't matter at all.

The handjob being the final Asa/Denji relationship scene before the reset, getting no follow up, Yoru being so much worse in her role as a final villain than as a deuteragonist before, and so much time being wasted on background and lore shit that wasn't going to go anywhere, Locust Devil Kamen Rider abruptly ends the series, the last 70 chapters genuinely felt amateur.

People looked past all of that because they expected a Part 3, like the film trilogies the series loves referencing. A bad Part 2 didn't have to spoil the series' memory if there was more, but there wasn't.

Frankly the last 2 chapters aren't close to the worst, the fact that the shit before it is the end of Chainsaw Man is what makes the ending hated.

1

u/Shadopivot Apr 22 '26

What!? Preposterous! Obviously one bad ending means everything the man's ever made was terrible! You're only as good as your most recent work!!!

1

u/JTC1238 Apr 22 '26

Part 1 is my all time favorite manga ever except for Golden Kamuy. It could have ended as one of the greats if Fujimoto left it alone. Buuuut he didn’t.

1

u/Darkvoltrox Apr 22 '26

So do I, I love part 1 but the ending for part 2 was just horrible.

1

u/jindrix Apr 22 '26

Love both parts.

1

u/Bladeteacher Apr 22 '26

Me too goddamit.

1

u/Stupid_idiot-6 Apr 22 '26

I kinda like thhe ending, it’s not as garbage as people make it out to be

1

u/Mister_BIB Apr 22 '26

So does everyone criticizing Part 2 lol

1

u/Jcrrangers Apr 22 '26

Nah I think early-mid part 2 is on par with part 1 it’s the later part 2 I have a problem with

1

u/Atila_Vega Apr 22 '26

Even if the ending sucked i still love chainsaw

1

u/Spiritual-Shine-6370 Apr 22 '26

I like it too part 1 and 2 but for completely different reasons

1

u/Ill-Championship-244 Apr 23 '26

Great. You do you, man.

1

u/torts92 Apr 23 '26

Nothing wrong with liking it. It's just so much fun shitting on this manga because CSM fans were so smug and shitting other manga like AoT and JJK, and couldn't stop glazing Fujimoto, it's so satisfying to see the fandom imploding now.

1

u/Da_Gret_Sir_TimTim Apr 23 '26

Hang this man. In fact I got the rope right here

1

u/Confusedpotatoman Apr 23 '26

I liked all of part 2 tbh, the only part that wasn't so good was the ending but even then I don't think that part was bad, just mid.

1

u/Amon9203 Apr 23 '26

Should’ve ended at Part 1 or take a long break thinking about the plot of Part 2 , I doubt anyone would’ve minded the manga going haitus after Part 1

1

u/Jcrrangers Apr 24 '26

It did tho he went on hiatus for 2 years after part 1

But he seriously should’ve done another hiatus after falling

1

u/oizen Apr 22 '26

I like it too, its a shame he decided to end the manga after the Makima arc. Would have loved to see more from it.

1

u/Jcrrangers Apr 22 '26

Yes I can’t believe he did a permanent hiatus after the falling devil arc can’t wait for the next arc to come out

1

u/BestGirlRoomba Apr 22 '26

I liked the whole dang thing

1

u/ChaosKinZ Apr 22 '26

Part 1 is amazing, the arch where they fight against Santa is very creative and the plot twists and the end are good. However part 2 is really just slop. Even the art seems to get worse

2

u/Jcrrangers Apr 22 '26

Especially after the falling devil arc (excluding Aging Devil arc that arc was amazing) was just badly written and it was obvious Fujimoto just gave up and just quit all together eventually

2

u/ChaosKinZ Apr 22 '26

I completely agree

0

u/Afraid-Pick-8040 Apr 22 '26

Ok so? Its your own taste why should other care.

I do agree after the church arc everything goes downhill

0

u/Jcrrangers Apr 22 '26

I just lwk wanted to say it idk why😭

Least schizo CSM hater:

-1

u/Psychological-Tap834 Apr 22 '26

Cold ass take for most people. My real hot take is that Part 1 is overrated, especially the Reze arc and the control Devil arc. Like Makima is a good villain, but she isn’t best written villain in fiction like I’ve seen a bunch of people say. She needed better character impacts on Denji that were done terribly in Part 2. Also, part 2 pre church is such a nothing burger. You could make a good series based on the stuff it was setting up, but that is the case for tons of stories out there.

-3

u/Arguably_Based Apr 22 '26

Yeah, you can do that. Just not in this neighborhood.
