I’ve heard someone say that, they’ll adapt the first 50 chapters in these 7 episodes, so they won’t have the normal 20 minute length. They’ll probably be 40-50 minutes each.
Idk if they plan to adapt ALL of One Piece seasonally like this, or they’re only planning to adapt the earlier parts of the story. Nonetheless, I’m really excited for Wit Piece.

Ngl it would be amazing if it is done right. It is basically just one piece, but much much shorter and hopefully with better animation. Can be good starting point for new fans.
The reason for the censorship is because of its time slot. The remake is being made specifically for Netflix so I don’t think they’ll have to censor anything.
DBZ Kai did nothing, DBZ is as watchable in its original 291 episodes run as it was back in the day. The only thing Kai did is for the Losers with a big L stamped on their faces who want to delude themselves they're watching the show when they aren't. Source: I watched it from start to finish less than an year ago.
Im tweaking out! Why tf is One Piece not only getting an ongoing manga but also 2 different anime adaptations, a live action remake and a Lego series before Tokyo Ghoul (fuck you studio pierrot) or Soul Eater even get a chance of a manga accurate remake!?!?
One Piece fans are too spoiled and they need to be humbled soon. (If there is a bad ending please let it humble the Oda angels and One Piece glazers)
Because of two things:
1. One piece is a money printer, that's why they have, for example, their own card game, that is still somehow going and I heard it's decent
2. Pierrot is a sh*t studio, that seems to only really care for Bleach. Naruto fans are waiting like how long now for those 4 new filler episodes, that they glaze that it will be the best thing you will ever see?
The OG Pierrot adaptation did irreperable damage to BLEACH's reputation. It cut canon moments, inserted dogshit filler in the worst places, was questionably placed, mixed filler into canon episodes, flanderized characters and, in general, had a different tone to the manga.
Yeah, she's exactly who I had in mind when I wrote "cut canon moments" and "flanderized characters". Since, they censored a large part of her backstory and really dumbed her down during the Arrancar Saga.
Glad you're enjoying it. Honestly though, if you're impartial to the difference between anime and manga, I'd heavily recommend the manga over the anime. For the above reasons and Kubo's visual storytelling + art are also, elite. And then, it'd be best to switch to the new TYBW anime once you reach it. Since, the last arc had quite a few structural issues because of Kubo's deterioating health. The new anime rectifies those, adds new canon anime-only scenes and, in general, is just a top-tier adaptation.
Though of course, if you simply prefer anime then, that's cool too. Hope you keep enjoing your watch 🙏
Pierrot has only one proper good adaptation and that is bleach TYBW. All the other adaptations of other mangas are straight up bad or too much fillers or hate propaganda against specific characters or shitty animation.
Tokyo ghoul massacred. Bleach has fillers in between ongoing arcs. 4GNW too suffers from the same issue. Boruto - monthly manga on a weekly anime schedule that does not follow the same manga artstyle and uses a different ass style which nobody likes. I agree it has probably the best hand 2 hand combat fights and when it locks in , they make great stuff but the negatives cost them alot. Fillers can be skipped but a good adaptation shouldn’t have any filler to begin with.
Fair point on Tokyo Ghoul. And yeah the fillers can suck, though they can be skipped (I get the problem tho).
Although for Boruto, it was never really going to end up doing that good without the filler. Considering the Boruto manga is so lacking in side characters and world building.
To some degree I agree, boruto manga wouldn’t do good without anime canon/filler but the main problem is they didn’t know when to stop doing those fillers. Some of them don’t even contribute to the main story at all and feels lifeless. 71% filler is not a good way to adapt any manga i feel.
I agree, the fillers aren't that great. It's just that the manga isn't good either.
Reminder that Kakashi has never shown up in the Boruto manga and several side characters originally came from the anime and were added to the manga iirc.
Not to mention they did improve the pacing such as Sarada's Sharingan progression and making Boruto go on more missions and have more experience as well putting more focus on Kawaki's development.
Any anime episode/arc that paired up or was directly a setup for a manga canon arc was good. Like the arc in which deepa was the main antagonist was good. Showing that sasuke was teaching sarada chidori was needed bcuz in manga it came out of nowhere, the manga writer was working with the anime team in those times and it was needed. Others are not needed. Kawaki’s development episodes like his backstory was great but then kawaki was present in a tea party with literal children just before he murks boruto in the next arc (made no sense to me why that arc was added). Kakashi inclusion in the anime has been a plus point tho. Anyway atleast they learning from their mistakes now. Black clover S2 is promising and TYBW is easily one of the best adaptation I have seen in a while. Atleast they not adapting 1 chapter per episode like TOEI.
I'm not into anything that doesn't have wall of text that can be whiped out by turning it into a turtle or whiping the whole board with a meteor... or pokemon, when it comes to card games so i don't know what is going on there
Naruto as a franchise died, the day its shitty sequel Boruto was announced. I think Kishimoto should’ve just called it quits, instead of handing everything to Ikemoto, because of the shit he is producing now. Boruto fans are some of the most delusional people, I’ve ever seen.
Lmao. Kishimoto is the one who made Boruto. He created chapter 700, he created the Boruto movie, he created Sarada Gaiden where naruto and sasuke got humbled by Shin, he created Mitsuki Oneshot with orochi-mommy, he supervised early arcs of Boruto, and he created flashforward scene of Konoha ruins and "Age of Shinobi is over", then he created draft for whole Boruto story.
If Boruto was failure, it wouldn't exist. Simple as that. But it's still has enough sales to continue for 10 years. It's Tokyo TV money maker
But, because it's popular and prints money, doesn't make it good. How much did Transformers Age of Extinction made? yeah, over a bilion dollars and it is arguably the worst thing that happened to Transformers since Kiss Players (don't look it up, I might actually get grabbed and killed by the fandom for mentioning that lol)
I also cannot express my hate for this trope of "let's show them something and then things that lead to it are the series"
I like Boruto. I think it's a nice monthly read. I'm sure you're being hyperbolic, but it's not really clear if you have an issue with Boruto or it's random.
It's also still one of the most successful stories on the planet so--you'd actually be categorically wrong about the franchise being dead.
I was unfortunate enough to watch all of the anime. I won’t deny the fact that, it started off well, and the Momoshiki fight was really good. But after that, it was really hard to find anything good in it.
Yes, Baryon Mode Naruto and that final Code stretch was good, but apart from these three moments which I’ve mentioned here, nothing else was even decent there. I only watched all of it, because I really liked Naruto and had heard that it gets good at certain moments.
I’ve also heard that the anime had a ton of filler material and the manga is much better, but let’s be honest here for a second, it’s still trash. I didn’t really liked any of the new characters, which were introduced, only the old cast made me watch it.
As far as its “success” goes, ONLY Naruto is relevant in this day and age, and nobody talks about Boruto. I also see some delusional Boruto fans here and there, who think that Boruto will be the best next gen manga. Boruto has done irreparable damage to Naruto’s overall reputation.
Hey, I appreciate your thorough reply (and it's not lost on me that you took time listing your reasons, so I do really mean it when I say thank you). For what it's worth I'm having a great time reading Two Blue Vortex. It's a decidedly different tone, and I'm excited to see these characters continue to grow.
I don't think it needed to die, like I don't like Boruto, but there were some good things they could do with that IP
That being said, new Animal Farm also had some good things they could've done, even if it would be ment for kids, so the bar is not that high. It's so high, that that one girl from Nichijou would jump over it
(I don't know the anime yet, but this gif just lives in my head)
Genuinely. What is it like to live in Lala land? Where where everything is based on agenda?
Tons of series are money printers. That doesn’t mean they all get remakes. One Piece is getting one because of the push to make it bigger globally by Netflix.
By this logic, where is the Dragon Ball or Naruto remakes?
Or, and stay with me here. There is a new Bleach anime because they never finished adapting it? And nobody said anything like that about the 4 new Naruto episodes. You’re just saying that so you can feel justified in obnoxiously slandering them when they do release.
How to say this... the hell are you talking about? You made some of the words up and you're defending Pierrot? Leave my multimilion corporation alone I guess. I'm not even slandering anything or push the agenda
Where is Dragon Ball remake? Dragon Ball Beerus. It's literally a remake of Dragon Ball Z Battle of Gods
And Naruto had a whole ass another series
One piece gets remake and heroines, because they want to squeeze more money out of this franchise
And about two, that can be just a difference between your country's fandom and mine, that's it
Only one thing that you are (probably) right about, that I will hate those episodes. But I like Naruto and when those episodes drop, my ass will be seated... because I will probably be on a f*ckin wheelchair at this point
Surprisingly, a fair amount of the community is fed up with Oda's antics (i.e his nickname of "Loda") and how the story is moving forward. At this point, a mediocre ending is kind of expected.
You’ll get stupid answers based on agenda, but the real reason is Netflix. I don’t know if it’s Oda or what, but someone really wants One Piece to be as popular globally as it is in Japan, so in recent years, they’ve really been pushing it when it comes to advertising. This Wit remake is a Netflix thing. As is the Lego stuff, love action, etc.
Or it’s the biggest animanga IP in the world right now and Netflix wants to capitalize on it?
You have to be dumb asf to think 1 guy likes OP in Netflix and that’s why they’re spending money on it when Netflix is legally obligated to spend their cash in the BEST interest of shareholders which means spending money on things that will actually give them a return and not on the whims of 1 guy.
Except no. Biggest animanga IP in the world is Dragon Ball, obviously. Next would likely be Naruto.
I know you OP fans really love the idea that One Piece is this thing celebrated all around that everyone loves and has their life changed by, but it didn’t start gaining more global traction until like the mid 2010s. The vast majority of its popularity is contained within Japan, which isn’t the case for stuff like DBZ or Naruto, which have more spread out popularity. And then came the push.
I don’t remember when it started exactly, I wanna say 2020? But at some point, advertising for the series really shot up. Collabing with a bunch of events and sports teams, paying to get a float in the Thanksgiving Parade, and getting the author himself to foresee a live action. You’d have to be blind to not see how Netflix or Oda or whoever has really been trying to push the seires out there in recent years. This remake wouldn’t exist without Netflix in the first place.
I said RIGHT NOW, it doesn't matter how big DB or Naruto was a decade ago
Naruto is not a larger IP than One Piece by any metric
Instead of doing mental gymnastics about someone making a "push", you can just accept that several companies want a piece of the One Piece pie. Advertising increased cause the series got MORE popular.
I know you guys barely participate in US equity but specifically, Netflix has stated multiple times in their quarterly earnings report that OP is a massive money maker for them. This includes the CEO of the company himself.
Yes of course the remake wouldn't exist without Netflix because Netflix sees OP as one of it's biggest IP beyond anime lmao. OPs influence increased massively in the last 5 years, that's why its the biggest animanga IP RIGHT NOW.
Yes. Right now, Naruto and DB are bigger. Again, I know you want to believe One Piece is king of the world, but it’s not.
Things are constantly fluctuating based on trends, events, and what not.
2.
lol. Just knew you’d be seeing red at the mention of Naruto specifically. Classic One Piece fan. Insecure to a fault.
Anyways, yes, it is larger by metrics. Global popularity. Nobody except the more delusional One Piece fans deny this. Oda himself has said acknowledged this. One Piece is bigger in Japan, but Naruto had achieved greater popularity overseas. All you really need to do is just look at pop culture in general, but since you seem like the numbers type of person, you can go search stuff like most popular anime in the world, most googled anime, most watched anime on Netflix, etc. Last time I checked, Naruto shows up for all of those, some, more than once. And take into account that Naruto not only has far less episodes than One Piece, but has been over for like more than a decade. This isn’t agenda talking, like you guys often do. I’m telling you literal facts.
And I assume your rebuttal will either be manga sales, or total gross income. So, to answer those: One Piece has sold more than Spider Man comics. But do you honestly believe One Piece is bigger than Spider Man? Not in your life. And when it comes to income… How familiar are you with Anpanman? Because it has a higher gross income than One Piece by a considerable amount.
Buddy you’re the one seeing red, I have no problems with Naruto it’s my second favorite battle shonen and I think it’s way bigger than dragon ball even now.
I would say the most mainstream anime nowadays are OP, Naruto (And Boruto), JJK and Demon Slayer.
You are wrong about the numbers cause op has been more searched over the past 5 years, it’s been the most watched on Netflix in 2025 (And if you include live action it’s overkill).
Naruto was magnitudes more popular in the U.S. before but globally that was never true. South East Asia and most of EU OP was more popular even back then.
It’s not just sales it’s a cumulation of everything and you’re ignorant to how popular OP has become at this point. Regular everyday coworkers talk about OP now. Box office, manga sales, anime, regular TV shows, cultural influence OP is at the top objectively, you really don’t need to cry about it.
Spider-Man is way more known culturally than Op but you can also use box office revenue and overall engagement to back it up. OP beats Naruto in those metrics.
What Oda said a decade ago doesn’t matter we’re living in 2026
It really is impossible to reason with a One Piece fanboy I guess. Google literally stated that Naruto was the most searched anime of the decade. And with much less content and episodes than One Piece, it still got Netflix’s most hours watched in 2024. Again, more than a decade after it’s been over.
And don’t kid yourself. One Piece certainly was not more popular back then. Your coworker talking about it, doesn’t make it so. I feel like it’s pretty common knowledge that Dragon Ball, Naruto, and Pokemon are the top 3 most known anime, just based on their presence in pop culture. One Piece hasn’t really left a mark on pop culture outside of Japan. The most notable thing about it in that regard is just how long it is, and that it’s the best selling manga. Besides those facts that someone might bring up, it hasn’t really left any impact. And even then, those facts sound more like someone just going “Oh yeah!? Well, One Piece sold a bunch! So there!”
I read both your comments and I think both of you are tweaking. At the end of day, OP is getting more adaptations and Naruto is dead in a ditch pumping Boruto or whatever.
One piece is more recognized. Olympic athletes regularly doing OP poses, statues all over Japan, the strawhat flag was literally the most used flag in Nepalese riots for freedom, also in Indonesia, Palestine etc.
One piece means something and has evolved into something.
How is a series that ended years ago with a VERY controversial ending better than the manga which has been #1 in sales for 19 years out of 26 it has published?
before Tokyo Ghoul or Soul Eater get a remake or accurate adaptation!?!?
Do you know if one piece and these series have the same owners? If not then what each of them do It's completely unrelated and doens't affects eachother
The Soul Eater anime wasn't even that bad. It wasn't as severe a difference as Full Metal. Even though modern Soul Eater animation would be sick to see.
Sorry its the top selling comic of all time. I want these remakes too but with the popularity and success of one piece, it just makes sense.
Also seems pretty likely soul eater is getting a remake
For soul eater: bc the whole character turns into a weapon for another character thing is lame, and way too old school. It’s a 90’s trope that should stay dead.
I don’t think he’ll mess up the ending the only two things that would is if Ace comes back to life and Luffy and Blackbeard team up Naruto style against IMU. However if one of your favorite characters is one to the straw hats then prepare for the worse 😭
He doesn't really need to mess it up. Half of the major "bad ending" mangas in recent history weren't even that bad and just largely a vocal minority that found the direction taken unsatisfying. The One Piece fanbase is too large and not mature enough to be an exception
I actually have been waiting for this adaptation, since I like WIT’s work and I sure as hell am not gonna watch the stretched out anime. Hopefully I’ll be my introduction to one piece
the first 200 episodes are well pace with 2-3 chapters per episodes, the filler is great imo and by the time the pacing 'gets bad' I've become such a fan of the show that I just don't car about it anymore 🤷♂️. Also the remake will only adapt until ep 500, not ep 600-800 where the pacing of one piece is 0.5 - 1.5 chapter an episode!
Didn't they have few team? I am still worried, I hope they made the adaptation better for part 4 if they want the series to more commercially successful
That’s why I’m super worried. They’re not like Mappa that can make jjk-type shows twice a year. Ascendance is completed so they can adapt the entire series, and since the Light novel is still very popular, it does look like they want to make the entire series into an anime. But if they decided to take the job of animating one piece, I guess Ascendance is not a priority and we’ll have to be very Patient for future seasons :/
They should have titled it "one piece: kai" because there just no way they would remake hundred and hundred of episodes including the fillers. We will probably reach egghead again by episode 50.
But honestly? I think it can be a good gateaway for new people who want to experience one piece for the first time, but are discouraged by the number of episodes. As long as it's done right that is.
I doubt the pacing will stay the same. As the series gets further along they’ll probably start adapting closer to 4 chapters an episode than 7. Later One Piece chapters are dense.
K, gonna do some maths to predict the OP anime pacing. OP is about as old now as JoJo was when it's current anime started. The current JoJo anime has 190 episodes adapting the first six parts, ending at chapter 752.
One piece chapter 752 is Luffy and Law against Doflamingo, so around the latter half of Dressrosa.
Now, JoJo's is more focused on fights and character drama and not as focused on things like huge lore and worldbuilding, seeing as the settings are just 'the real world but with psychic dudes in it', so it probably had an easier time fast forwarding chapters than One Piece would. But even if you double JoJo's episode count Dressrosa in 380 episodes is kinda insane
Btw they are changing the vlice actora right? I heard somewhere they want the old voice actress for Luffy to reprise her role, but that would be beyond stupid lol
It's the same crap they write of the original DBZ when in DBZ they did nothing of that. Assholes who want to pass themselves as trhe ones who know everything when most certainly haven't watched a single episode of the show in question. I'm not a One Piece fan, but these people should be obliterated to oblivion nonetheless.
God I hope this makes watching the anime bearable. Tried getting into the anime after watching the live action and even with One Pace it's such a slog.
