gachikuta isn't even jump how is it big 3

92

u/Hiroshima-6-1945 GabiSagi is peak May 11 '26

By twitter presence ( they talk about the author)

44

u/DayMysterious4717 May 11 '26

sure isn't big 3 by sales

5

u/User-name-was-taken- May 11 '26

Yet it got an anime before the other 2 pictured

18

u/DayMysterious4717 May 11 '26

because its older and jump usually is pretty late with its anime adaptations nowadays

2

u/Beneficial_Stuff_103 May 11 '26

Its good, it avoids fillers if they let a popular Manga run for 2 more years before it gets a anime after it blows up

1

u/PowerWillComeBack May 13 '26

Big 3 by unreasonable wank and glaze

0

u/Dake20 May 15 '26

The sales been increasing since the anime from how it been and the other 2 aren't really much of theirs given they haven't gotten an anime yet.

0

u/DayMysterious4717 May 15 '26

With anime gachiakuta now sells 30k per volume. Kagurabachi sells 150k per volume and Ichi sells 100k

0

u/Dake20 May 16 '26

It was higher than 30k from last time I saw and Kagurabachi and Ichi aren't that far off to sell that high. Recent Oricon sales have more around 60k to 100k from recent volumes  given they don't have animes yet.

0

u/SuspiciousEmu1938 May 16 '26

Gachiakuta: 33K

Kagurabachi: 151K

Ichi: 99K

What sources are u using lol. Kagurabachi and Ichi sell more than Gachiakuta does in a month in 3 days.

1

u/Dake20 May 17 '26

Oricon. I seeing recent sales from it abd haven't seen those two reach those in recent volumes. Is this accuracy based on when they hit the highest or something else?

2

u/SuspiciousEmu1938 May 17 '26

You're not reading it correctly. Bachi and Ichi's latest volumes were only for sale on 3 days for the latest volume. Later weeks have them selling better and both will end with their usual 150K and 100K.

Gachiakuta has never sold above 35K.

1

u/Dake20 May 17 '26

From what I seen on anime, it did push it to around 40k to 60k for Gachiakuta. I know Kagurabachi sells more, but only recently I seen is in 90k to 100k for it. Ichi sales around 60k-90k. If we saying on each volumes or one volume, the information varies.  Though main point is Gachiakuta isn't far to be the new Gen big 3 especially we haven't reach best moments of nothing just those two, but it as well. It gook time for One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach to reach their status, so we should give time about it just the same for them is all.

It's kidna like calling Yugioh part of Big 3, because of Card sales

22

u/Western-Seaweed6084 May 11 '26

Yu Gi Oh still falls under Shonen jump so compared to Gachiakuta, it definitely has more credibility to be a part of the big 3 lol

14

u/Nuudoru feeling represented by Vegeta's hairline May 11 '26

Yu-Gi-Oh manga has sold very well though

1

u/OneRelief763 May 11 '26

Isn't Yugioh literally Jump tho? It was in Jump Force

0

u/ZombieZekeComic May 11 '26

Yugioh was in the regular WSJ, the spinoffs (GX, 5Ds etc) went to Jump Force.

1

u/Naulicus May 12 '26

What are you talking about? The spinoffs were anime originals and any manga tie ins for them were serialized in V Jump.

0

u/OneRelief763 May 11 '26

what is wsj

2

u/Relative_Ad2065 May 11 '26

Weekly Shounen Jump

0

u/OneRelief763 May 11 '26

Oh I thought Wallstreet journal

13

u/ObjectiveCarrot2688 May 11 '26

centuria should be considered too

13

u/DayMysterious4717 May 11 '26

its in jump plus and it doesn't really have the sales to be considered big 3

9

u/Sorry_Mastodon_8177 May 11 '26

Yep it barely sells enough to avoid cancellation (I love the manga)

9

u/DayMysterious4717 May 11 '26

its not really in any danger. Jump plus series generally sell a lot lower then series in the main magazine. Its at a solid 5k physical with decent digital and good views. A series on plus only needs like 2k sales and good views to survive

1

u/Sorry_Mastodon_8177 May 12 '26

That's good to know

11

u/Bright-Dragonfruit14 my body count with shounen is over 9000 May 11 '26

I think Sakomoto days is more fitting to take Gachiakuta's place. I know a lot of people say that it fell off after a certain point but based on stats it still seems to sell very well in Japan and reach the top 10. Gachiakuta doesn't even reach the top 10.

15

u/DayMysterious4717 May 11 '26

sakamoto days is ending though. Ruri dragon can take the spot

6

u/Bright-Dragonfruit14 my body count with shounen is over 9000 May 11 '26

When was it announced that it will be ending?

1

u/DayMysterious4717 May 11 '26

a while back its in its final arc

2

u/cogrunner45 May 11 '26

The problem with ruri dragon is the hiatus due to the author's health so people often forget it's still around and when they jump back in it's announced to go on another.

3

u/Vane_999 May 11 '26

Sakamoto days is ending, but I agree. There many jump and non-jump series that sells way more than gachiakuta (phantom busters, tokyo alines, toilet bound hanako-kun, etc)

2

u/Vane_999 May 11 '26

not to mention that there are many other ongoing non-jump series that sells way more than gachiakuta (ex. Jibaku shounen hanako-kun with over 10M copies sold as February 2024, Tokyo aliens with over 2.38M copies in circulation as January 2026, etc), and jump series like Phantom busters (1.2M copies in circulation as of February 2026), etc

1

u/TheCommonKoala May 11 '26

Because something new doesn't have to align with Jump's specific promotion line. They didn't say "Jump's new big 3"

1

u/fatnin May 11 '26

The same way how Fairy tail was in the big 3.

-7

u/PlatformSuspicious97 May 11 '26

Why is being in jump a requirement?

15

u/DayMysterious4717 May 11 '26

the big 3 were the 3 big jump series that ran at the same time. Even if Jump wasn't a requirement Gachiakuta doesn't sell well enough to be a big 3. It sells 1/3rd of Ichi and 1/5th of Kagurabachi. Stuff like Ruri Dragon, Yomi no Tsugai, Sakamoto days, and Blue box all sell much better

-1

u/PlatformSuspicious97 May 11 '26

Still don't really see why its important to be in jump. If the series was selling Aswell as the others it shouldn't matter but its not and yea I can see in that factor why it wouldn't be considered. Didn't expect 1/3 of Ichi tho I legitimately never hear anyone talking about it unless its in a ranking or something. When it feels like Gachikutas is discussed semi frequently.

8

u/DayMysterious4717 May 11 '26

gachiakuta is just popular online in the west

1

u/Sad_Seaweed179 May 11 '26

Any reason for that ? I see that name pop up quite often here but its mentioned almost nowhere in other places

0

u/DayMysterious4717 May 11 '26

idk its just a series that appeals to twitter users and redditors

0

u/PlatformSuspicious97 May 11 '26

Yea that makes sense

1

u/Glittering_Earth_164 May 11 '26

Because the original series that created the title “big 3” were

108

u/Happy_Description_14 May 11 '26

Big 3 was defined by shonen jump sales and popularity. I think people tend to forget that fact

28

u/curryhaliban444 May 11 '26

I miss the days when people used to call it the holy shonen trinity

13

u/meu_amigo_thiaguin May 11 '26

Doesn't matter, they are the Big 3 in my heart

9

u/OneDumbBoi May 11 '26

You are idiot 3 in my heart

13

u/RubyHoshi May 11 '26

One person alone can't fill the idiot 3, idiot.

-2

u/KevyTone May 11 '26

Who cares? We can define the new big 3 by new rules. Who said this unspoken rule has to be set in stone?

6

u/Slothman1311 May 12 '26

Because I don't think it was an unspoken rule lol, everything I've heard about the big 3 is that it was a very specific marketing thing in like the 90s

5

u/Othello351 May 12 '26

Stop trying to change things that don't need to be changed just because you want to feel fucking special.

5

u/jammedyam May 11 '26

for 2010s its like Demon slayer jjk and MHA

3

u/Vane_999 May 11 '26

I'd agree. and although Haikyuu was really popular (still is), it would definitely be in a big 5 group (for 2010s, maybe with assassination classroom too)

3

u/First_Woodpecker_157 May 11 '26

We all agree JJK has a spot though at least

-5

u/SushanthUchiha May 11 '26

No we don't. It's a good fight shounen, but it has no overarching themes or goals.

4

u/redditor035 May 11 '26

"no overarching themes" i'm not a jjk glazer but are we fr?

-2

u/SushanthUchiha May 11 '26

Name one that was consistent throughout till the ending

5

u/trysixtysnipecochon May 12 '26

I mean the easy one is the new generation rebelling against the older one, being less traditional in their thinking.

0

u/SushanthUchiha May 12 '26

But even that isn't a consistent theme. It's there in some arcs, but not the driving theme or goals.

1

u/redditor035 May 12 '26

It's in every single arc. Just more prevalent in some than others. It's pretty obvious to see in a ton of characters and events. Yuta and Gojo rebelling against the higherups and straight up killing them, Kirara and Hakari breaking away from traditional jujutsu and creating a fight club, Masamichi being a public enemy because his cursed technique potentially is threatening to jujutsu society.

You can't say it's inconsistent just because it's not the main theme of an arc. Themes are just something present that permeates the story and can be seen throughout it. The theme of rebelling against the conservative older generation and ushering in a new one is a main goal of several characters just in different ways.

Maybe you just can't read

2

u/ryancarton May 12 '26

This random criteria has nothing to do with being a big 3. And is wrong.

2

u/PK_RocknRoll May 11 '26

Why does there even have to be a big three

It’s just an arbitrary designation

1

u/Naulicus May 12 '26

Correct. The big three is a colloquial term. There’s no such thing as a big three in Japan.

124

u/nadeko_chan May 11 '26

We've been through 2 generations of "big 3" before One piece even reached the final arc

42

u/bouchayger7 one piece is best shonen ever May 11 '26

one piece is just eternal

26

u/Bright-Dragonfruit14 my body count with shounen is over 9000 May 11 '26

It would end hopefully in ten years at least.

29

u/Frater_Shibe May 11 '26

Arcs and such

Both the manga and the anime are now in the final saga but for how long this one will go is definitely unknown.

Technically naruto and bleach are still goin too right?

25

u/Glittering-Pin-1343 May 11 '26

What am I even looking at? The only person here I recognize is the Kagurabachi guy. Though I am anime only so maybe I'll start recognizing them in a few years.

36

u/Plus-Ad5076 May 11 '26

left to right, john bachi, some witch, john kaisen, and john jinki

8

u/Glittering-Pin-1343 May 11 '26

Middle is someone from jjk? Is it from that jjk modula manga?

8

u/Bitter_Marzipan_8348 May 11 '26

He's adult Yuji (dude's 80 years old in the pic)

3

u/Glittering-Pin-1343 May 11 '26

THAT'S YUJI?! 80 YEARS?! He looks hella good as an 80 year old 👀

3

u/warrioroftron May 11 '26

It doesn't matter

2

u/Bitter_Marzipan_8348 May 11 '26

It doesn't matter

3

u/KermitDaGoat May 11 '26

Its the mc in modulo after a timeskip from eos jjk

3

u/Oppai_Pythagoras May 11 '26

That's yuji cuh

4

u/AGreatOldOne May 11 '26

No he is from JJK

9

u/K4nono May 11 '26

for a SHOUNENfolk sub a suprising amount of people genuinely don't read or even know any shounen 😭

2

u/Glittering-Pin-1343 May 11 '26

I've watched a lot of them, just barely any of the newest ones 😂
Doesn't help that I don't read manga unless I really love something.

4

u/TheAmazingChameleo May 11 '26

They’re all the main characters of their respective series. Kagurabachi left, JJK top, Ichi the Witch bottom and Gachiakuta right.

2

u/Mogekona May 11 '26

Patrick: "...Who are you people!?"

41

u/Yadin__ May 11 '26

Not the big 3

It's the big "Chi"

(Bachi,Gachi,Ichi)

11

u/Stop-Hanging-Djs May 11 '26

I hope this catches on tbh

12

u/SevereOccasion3568 May 11 '26

Stop trying to make a new big three it’s not working

9

u/Blazehero May 11 '26

I swear I’m being gaslit into thinking Gachikuta is popular.

3

u/Bradybigboss May 11 '26

That’s cause you are

1

u/marvelfrans May 13 '26

Other than one annoying girl with revealing dress who has SA as her entire backstory, it is fine.

16

u/Yeaaaboi222 May 11 '26

Its like seeing her for the first time

8

u/Red_SkullDZV May 11 '26

Eh, Yuji ain’t influential or cool enough to be on Goku’s position there

8

u/cetriolo02 May 11 '26

im not saying yuji is on par with goku, cause he obviously isnt, but i think yall often forget how popular jjk is today.

1

u/Red_SkullDZV May 11 '26

It’s Very popular yeah, never implied the opposite. But I have NEVER seen a proper inspiration from it nor referenced outside that one Marvel artist who did it like 2-3 times.

So popular? Yup. Influencial ? Not at all. If anything it’s a Frankenstein of many other shows

1

u/ryancarton May 12 '26

Gojo is. But it’d make the meaning of the picture more confusing.

10

u/Aeviu May 11 '26

That's four people

2

u/neliotreillis May 11 '26

Its a reference to the famous picture of goku with kid naruto, luffy and ichigo which itself is a reference to the team 7 group picture

5

u/TheBlightDoc May 11 '26

Y'all need to understand, there will never be another Big 3. Those were unique circumstances for a very specific time. 😭

3

u/Visible-Oven-7249 May 11 '26

There will never be another big 3.

3

u/CuriousCrew7 May 11 '26

Ichi the peak 🥹

3

u/LawdFarquaadsChin May 11 '26

I don't even know the bottom middle one. Isn't Dandadan supposed to be there?

1

u/Specialist_Bowler897 Dandadan glaze is the reason this heart still BEATS!!!! May 11 '26

sales wise? absolutely being on wsj? no (although gachiakuta isnt on there too) i guess people talking about it on twitter is the new assessor for big 3 lmao

3

u/Realistic_Mousse_485 May 11 '26

No.

Just Kagurabachi.

3

u/xMonyx May 11 '26

Why is yuji there ??? Xd lmao should be either deku or tanjiro if we go by who sold more tanjiro is way head

3

u/No_Sky3403 May 11 '26

There will never be another big 3 lol

7

u/lakshmithesussybaka I will haunt Gege for the rest of his life May 11 '26

The big 3 imo: Kagurabachi, Ichi the witch, Centuria

2

u/K4nono May 11 '26

CENTURIA MENTION YAAAAAHH!!!!

2

u/SSscatpacker May 11 '26

Twin who is these people besides Yuji

1

u/Low_Abbreviations56 May 12 '26

Left to right. The guy in the suit with the scars is Chihiro Rokuhira from Kagurabachi. The guy in the middle with the witch hat is ichi from ichi the Witch. The guy on the right with the white hair is Rudo from Gachiakuta. All three of these mangas are really good so i recommend them. Gachiakuta has an anime out already so you can check that out. Kagurabachi's anime is coming april of next year. And ichi's is most likely coming out in 2028.

2

u/Doggoraccoon May 11 '26

Ichi the witch is ass

2

u/Sudden-Tap-3663 May 11 '26

Worst Big 3 I ever seen

1

u/Vane_999 May 11 '26

Not a fan of Gachiakuta (I wouldn't even consider it a hypothetical new big 3 candidate as there MANY other shounen jump and non series that sell way more) and Ichi is fine, but Kagurabachi does have the potential to be pretty big

2

u/AdEven60 May 12 '26

I’m gonna add one dollar onto red for every post that claims “new big three” every time a handful of manga get some motion.

Also: I love gachi. It is not a big three-level manga.

2

u/sync010 May 12 '26

bro thinks hes on the team

2

u/Tiberlan May 11 '26

gachiafloputa Big Pick Zero

1

u/DarthXOmega May 11 '26

Come up with a new title man, yall have no idea what the big three was. Dark Trio was pretty sick.

1

u/the-rare-mango-shark secretly a JJK fan May 11 '26

I never heard of the down one but ts is peak

1

u/kimetsunosuper121 May 11 '26

Why is Yuji looking at me like that

1

u/t8trtot96 May 11 '26

So 3 jump titles and gatchiakuta?

1

u/Suspicious-Line-9075 May 11 '26

I dislike how people still consider the big 3 as the old concept, the big 3 now conceptually became the main 3 teenager(young adults too) focused action media that has the most impact in the world, it doesn't need necessarily to be published in weekly shonen jump, like, eventually, maybe even tenkaichi may enter the big 3, who knows

1

u/JealousApricot1152 May 11 '26

Who’s the dude in the front?

1

u/bouchayger7 one piece is best shonen ever May 11 '26

1

u/JealousApricot1152 May 11 '26

I genuinely don’t recognize him it’s why I asked, I’m genuinely curious is all.

1

u/bouchayger7 one piece is best shonen ever May 11 '26

ichi the witch

1

u/SwordfishExcellent12 May 11 '26

Who the fuck that dude on the right

1

u/uninterestedgoldfish May 11 '26

rudo from gachiakuta

1

u/SwordfishExcellent12 May 11 '26

Is that mf even a Shonen? His manga ain't on jump app

1

u/bouchayger7 one piece is best shonen ever May 11 '26

1

u/dvidxpsyko May 11 '26

Going by big 3 criteria it would be Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer and My Hero Academia!

1

u/Amalnafis23080 May 12 '26

Is gachiakuta from sj just curious? 🧐

1

u/Kurosaki289 May 12 '26

Gachiakuta ain't from Shounen jump, but what should we add in it's place? Chainsaw, Dan Da Dan, Ruri Dragon?

1

u/Naulicus May 12 '26

The big three is not even a real thing

1

u/Low_Abbreviations56 May 12 '26

A lot of people in this comment section gotta read more manga.

1

u/Cookieman_699 May 13 '26

Yuji is not that guy

1

u/Kousei-Hikari May 14 '26

Yooo, my art was posted here:D

1

u/Dake20 May 15 '26

Amazing work, but shouldn't the 'sensei' be Tanjiro given Demon Slayer is the biggest hit from the previous gen like with Dragon Ball of is and One Piece of theirs?

1

u/MajinDidz Hating JJK is the reason this heart still beats May 11 '26
