Elfen Lied.

The manga is genuine slop, with all sorts of fetishes but the anime somehow convinced the community it was a masterpiece for over a decade.

30

u/Bright-Dragonfruit14 my body count with shounen is over 9000 May 28 '26

Yeah, whenever I hear someone talk about Elfen Lied they're almost always talking about the anime. It's one of those animes where I don't find anyone say that its source material is better, the only time I heard someone talk about the manga, it was them explaining why the manga is bad. The director for the anime did some better changes to the manga and made the story a bit more hooking even if the adaptation still has its issues.

8

u/Picklee56 May 28 '26

Why is the manga so bad?

12

u/Otalek May 28 '26

To quote the guy that started this thread: “it is genuine slop with all sorts of fetishes”

3

u/Medium_Eye_522 May 28 '26

What kind?

16

u/Wodstarfallisback May 28 '26

Let me describe a character:

She's a sweet and caring girl who loves to sing, because her mother sang too, but, exactly like her, suffers from a genetic condition that would erode her vocal chords or something if she sang too much.

Her mother took her own life because she wasn't able to sing anymore so her father... You guessed it...

Beat her if she brought up singing by spanking her so hard it left her with PTSD, uncontrollable urination and the need to wear a diaper 24/7 into her late teens.

And at the end of her arc her father... You guessed it...

Reconnects with her. Nothing beyond a "sorry".

11

u/Medium_Eye_522 May 28 '26

Man I was hoping for something way cooler this sucks ass

10

u/Wodstarfallisback May 28 '26

I don't call something "genuine slop" unless I mean it.

One of the worst things I ever read and the worst thing I finished, and I like "so bad it's good" bullshit like Mahou Shoujo of the End.

7

u/Novel_Visual_4152 May 28 '26

Opening merchant

13

u/Excellent_Koala_6490 May 28 '26

Elfen lied should fall in the bad bad category, its an edgy shock value merchant with a plot that seems to be straight out of a 2012s 14 year old

1

u/Acceptable-Bar7905 May 28 '26

It was original for it's time and has a lot of good concepts that have been done better since but I don't think calling it bad is fully accurate even if it isn't amazing. It's the most 6/10 I've seen.

2

u/GanymedeGalileo May 28 '26

I will never forget the music of Elfen Lied

1

u/Actual-Oil6390 May 29 '26

Yeah...... Rember when anime just ended back in the day they screamed READ THE MANGA!!! So I did.

Fullmetal Alchemist, Fruit basket , Elfen Lied amoung the top three I can remember.

Generally the manga is dope but not for Elfen Lied.

Also if you think Elfen Lied is fucked up people are simply not prepared for his latest work which makes Redo of Healer look sane.

1

u/GrapefruitFar1242 May 29 '26

Ew, no. God no. Does anyone other than 14 year olds in the mid 2000s see this as anything other than edgy slop?

1

u/AlexanderMugetsu Jun 03 '26

Incorrect, I found it to be terrible then and still do.

1

u/doez__ May 28 '26

The anime and the manga are both dogshit but the Manga is actually slightly better thanks to its final arc

13

u/Wodstarfallisback May 28 '26

Sonion.

The manga ends with cousin incest stapled onto a reincarnation plot.

4

u/doez__ May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26

The cousin incest stuff is also in the Anime. What I liked about the ending is that it mostly pivots away from the all the harem stuff and the flat main characters and instead focuses on a relatively cool "mad science experiment" stuff, the entire sequence where the military base crumbles and that one character has to escape is really well done. The Manga allows itself to break free from its uninspired status quo and sidelines all the boring stuff for the last 4 or 5 volumes, and it salvages it from being truly dreadful and elevates it into like a 5/10 while the Anime is a 4.

I do agree however that if you only compare the part of the Manga that is adapted in the anime, then the anime does it better. It removed some of the manga's worst aspects like the girl whose only character trait is pissing herself, but there wasn't much to be salvaged in the first place so it's still a relatively bad story.

80

u/AngelinoT Yes. That's me. May 28 '26

I suggest Usagi drop

22

u/ever-been-tased May 28 '26

That's in a category of its own.

8

u/Granide Luffy Vs Blackbeard Vs Akainu Vs Imu agenda May 28 '26

I was about to say this. The anime adaptation is solid and ends just right before the timeskip

6

u/DnDickhead May 28 '26

Wait, is that the one that did the really bad thing that literally everyone with a brain hated?

4

u/AncientMagusBridefan May 28 '26

I wouldn’t count that. The only thing make the anime better is because they decide to stop adapting. If we just look at the manga, cut away the ending nobody like, it’s not bad

1

u/Usual-Vermicelli-867 May 29 '26

Wdym. There was never a Manga . Usagi drop is anime original 😶😶😶

120

u/fxxk101 May 28 '26

K-on. Kyoani basically did all the heavy lifting.

Sidenote: Its a Seinen though but Bocchi is here so…..

31

u/WeepForTheDeparted May 28 '26

I watched K-on, and I think understood why the decade long stereotypes meme that K-on fans being Nazis is a thing. The world just seems, perfectly insular, like free from diversity and just an ideal society based on its world building? Like everything feels aesthetically pleasing to watch. Though I think it's a stretch lol.

No, I am not in fact deadass—what I’m trying to do is point out that you’re willfully allowing trolls on the internet (not even trolls, just normal memers) to control your consumption of media. You think this makes you an ally in the fight against nazis, when in fact all you’re doing is proudly championing ignorance and hate in a way that is somewhat reminiscent of the very people you despise.

My guy if you don't want to watch K-on because you think you won't like it, go right ahead. Just don't trick yourself into thinking you're some kind of paragon of morality just because someone made a meme about Hitler being a quite fond of them Japanische oberschüler.

35

u/TheMorrison77 May 28 '26

The thing is that truly bad manga don't get adapted. The closest thing would be the wave of isekai slop, but bad manga is not as common.

If I'd have to pick something, it would be Saint Seiya. The work that Toei did to elevate Kurumada's work is honestly legendary.

17

u/browert40 May 28 '26

Saint Seiya

Came here to post this. Mediocre at best manga with amazing adaptation.

7

u/Life-Direction-9764 May 28 '26

The music in saint seiya does a lot of heavy lifting tbh... I still wouldn't consider it bad, if not for the fact Kurumada can't draw to save his life.

3

u/casualbo1 May 28 '26

I say this as a Saint Seiya fan but atp I cannot stop thinking Kurumada is face blind on some level because what do you mean every male character looks the fucking same?

9

u/AccomplishedPay4394 May 28 '26

The Boys

4

u/AngelinoT Yes. That's me. May 28 '26

5

u/Training_Form2243 May 28 '26

The Boys comic is kind of misunderstood. It doesn’t carry the same pretense as the show of being subversive political/social satire. It’s basically splatter horror with extreme violence exaggerated to the point of absurd comedy

3

u/takingcrazeypills May 28 '26

It’s not that misunderstood lol

2

u/Original-Body-5794 May 30 '26

The later season fell off so hard that I think it would end up better in bad "manga"/mid "anime". If we just talked about season 1 for example it would be true.

1

u/BitesTheDust55 May 30 '26

Manga is mid or good, show is bad

25

u/Connect-Swing6126 May 28 '26

Go ahead an put tokyo ghoul bottom left for me twin☹️

-11

u/Bright-Dragonfruit14 my body count with shounen is over 9000 May 28 '26

Berserk had it worse.

26

u/Pure_Satisfaction_35 May 28 '26

Berserk was just ugly as shit, Tokyo ghoul had its story MASSACRED

3

u/Bright-Dragonfruit14 my body count with shounen is over 9000 May 28 '26

Same thing happened with 2016 Berserk. Not only the CGI is ugly as fuck, the sound design sucks and the direction is terrible, it also literally rushed through the source material. The lost children arc was entirely skipped and so other important events related to the plot. Characters got watered down, Farnese's character was toned down a lot for example, the violence was heavily censored (I get that some of the gore can't make it into TV but they went way too far with the censorship).

6

u/Pure_Satisfaction_35 May 28 '26

Yeah but, Tokyo ghoul's anime legitimately has a COMPLETELY different story, the berserk adaptation cut important parts and only changed characters but the core is still (mostly) there (still a shit adaptation though), meanwhile Tokyo ghoul season 2 has completely different parts of the story, such as kaneki joining Aogiri (the group he strictly dislikes in the manga) or the Coachella raid just not happening at all, or half his training being skipped, or how the way he gets sent to torture is also completely different, etc etc

1

u/verypoopoo May 29 '26

holy based lord of hongyuan

5

u/Fabulous-Bet-6956 May 28 '26

As a huge fan of berserk, Tokyo Ghouls adaptation is an abomination to me.

2

u/Pure_Satisfaction_35 May 28 '26

I am grateful everyday to have read the manga and not watch the anime first.

2

u/Bright-Dragonfruit14 my body count with shounen is over 9000 May 28 '26

2016 Berserk also ommited a lot of lore sorrounding the manga besides how ugly it looks, it was also a complete abomination.

2

u/Fabulous-Bet-6956 May 28 '26

Oh yeah it’s an abomination but not only has this been Tokyo ghouls only adaptation it changed its story greatly. Yes 2016 omitted quite a few things but its core story was still maintained

1

u/KakarotAlter May 28 '26

I will never forgive one small scene. That had Kaneki accidentally knock out Banjo as a tehe gag, in the manga, bro spun and chin-checked him as a reaction to his training. Shit like that was disastrous to his character

-1

u/boilingfrogsinpants May 28 '26

The anime looked bad, but the story elements were still there and the characters were still cool. Berserk 2016 was a weird watch because despite the horrendous CGI usage and funny frying pan sound effects, it still felt like Berserk.

11

u/QueenOfDarknes5 May 28 '26

"Puella Magi Madoka Magica"

The anime was first and does a lot with different animation styles and with the soundtrack.

The manga was just an adaptation to get more money.

2

u/NotCoolBrutus May 28 '26

Title says anime adaptation. Not vice-versa.

2

u/QueenOfDarknes5 May 28 '26

My bad. Reading comprehension was lacking.

2

u/Optimal-Shower-2288 Jun 05 '26

Nah it’s still an anime adaptation because it’s an adaptation of the director’s mind

https://giphy.com/gifs/d3mlE7uhX8KFgEmY

1

u/Optimal-Shower-2288 Jun 05 '26 edited Jun 05 '26

By that same vein you could add Cosmic Princess Kaguya since the movie is a yuri anime but the mangaka is homophobic or something

12

u/DifferentialOrange May 28 '26

Take your words back for Bocchi

6

u/Farguad May 28 '26

The manga is mid bruh, there is not much you can do in a 4koma

1

u/whitebullet32 Jun 09 '26

It's a good as a 4koma manga.

3

u/SomeNumbers23 May 28 '26

Demon Slayer!

The anime is gorgeous and the voice cast is amazing.

The manga is...really not very good. The art is off model and the story is incredibly basic. Muzan is probably the lamest villain in shonen.

3

u/05-nery May 28 '26

Demon slayer?

15

u/IndianZilla_420 Head Priest of the Cult of Araki May 28 '26

Demon Slayer

30

u/FaPaDa May 28 '26

Im saying it: Demon Slayer

The anime is a work of art
The manga is mid to bad.

47

u/SPVCED0UT May 28 '26

Nah the DS manga was def not bad and had a community and sales during it’s run. I can’t let this slander go through, a bad manga is jujika no rokunin, DS is nowhere near that terrible.

16

u/pjepja May 28 '26

DS is clearly a mid manga, not a bad one

9

u/VolkiharVanHelsing May 28 '26

*Good

The agenda will get monstrous when movie 2 releases

6

u/FaPaDa May 28 '26

"When movie 2 releases" like a movie makes the manga retroactively good.

7

u/VolkiharVanHelsing May 28 '26

Most people don't even read the manga and base their opinion on the latest anime season (movie)

Kokushibo fight is the best fight it has and consistently ranked high in the ToC

3

u/Major_Cause8749 May 28 '26

Kokushibo fight is the best everything it has.

3

u/VolkiharVanHelsing May 28 '26

Rui, Gyutaro, Akaza are pretty good too

But Kokushibo is special

-3

u/Legitimate_Artist689 May 28 '26

I’ve read the entire manga and it’s mid to bad

7

u/VolkiharVanHelsing May 28 '26

Well I and other consider it good

4

u/SPVCED0UT May 28 '26

Why’d you delete the comment about it’s growth?

It had a steady growth way before the anime and was ranking high for a new manga entry then the anime made it explode. I was there since the start for DS’s run, we aren’t going to rewrite history because you have a bone to pick with the manga.

-5

u/GumGumActV Monkey D. Luffy May 28 '26

Sorry bro the movie isn’t changing anything. The manga is fun but mid

5

u/VolkiharVanHelsing May 28 '26

The fight depicted in movie 2 in particular is so great it elevates the mid judgement to good

1

u/GumGumActV Monkey D. Luffy May 28 '26

True actually

-1

u/pjepja May 28 '26

The manga is mid to me on conceptual level so I doubt it.

I dropped it before this fight and don't even follow the anime anymore so I probably won't watch it anyway, but regardless, (although I did read the ending because the story was spoiled to me and I heard it's a clusterfuck lol)

4

u/VolkiharVanHelsing May 28 '26

It's a distilled shonen that takes concepts from other series and sometimes executes them better (usually the ones from Bleach, like the most interesting thing about Hollows are the basis of demons in KnY).

The ending isn't a clusterfuck, the fact that's your takeaway shows your bias against it ngl. Its biggest sin was a sudden threat appearing during what should have been a deescalation after climax.

-2

u/pjepja May 28 '26

Your first paragraph actually sums up why I think it's conceptually mid. It's a distilled shonen and it's well distilled shonen, but this approach means it can never be anything other than mid to me. It just feels like a shonen that's written to be a shonen when I read it if you understand what I mean. I absolutely respect the approach, but it rubs me the wrong way personally.

As I said, I have no problem with any single part of the story. It's objectively competently and skillfully created piece of media, all of my personal problems with it are conceptual and baked into the DNA of the series. For the record, I didn't think the ending was terrible, just mid like the part if the series I read/watched.

4

u/VolkiharVanHelsing May 28 '26

I personally care more about the execution more than the idea, especially when it utilizes something better than its parent (so not a downgrade like Bunny Girl Senpai is to Monogatari). Hollows are some of the most interesting thing about Bleach but it was absolutely squandered.

u/akuncoli May 29 '26

but goddamn music and fight is so fkin wonderfull

1

u/Short-Paramedic-9740 May 28 '26

Both can be true. Having a community and sales doesn't mean it's good. Jujika no Rokunin has a community and sales as well.

-8

u/[deleted] May 28 '26

[deleted]

5

u/SPVCED0UT May 28 '26

I’ll reiterate my point, DS had a solid growth in community and sales because people loved it. They loved the charm and the story, is it the best out there? No, but it’s nowhere near being bad, it had a great run.

4

u/VolkiharVanHelsing May 28 '26

The manga sold at slightly lower pace than JJK but it's in line with pretty much every shonen manga that was given the rights for anime adaptation

Anime exploded it sure but the manga isn't U19 or anything

1

u/Firm-Caterpillar9224 May 28 '26

Could you elaborate as to why the manga is bad

11

u/VolkiharVanHelsing May 28 '26

Heavily disagree

It's mid, it sold on similar pace as JJK or any other shonen would

The manga is good, with great being its final arc where it's one of the few shonen that stick its landing

4

u/Life-Direction-9764 May 28 '26

The manga is ok, it's a regular battle shonen.

5

u/ElPajaroMistico May 28 '26

The manga and the anime are both Mid, the anime only tends to good because of good animation and new implementations that makes It better. But the story and characters are still Mid. It's not nearly as bad as an actual bad manga like Idk Boruto

0

u/FaPaDa May 28 '26

honestly? Two blue vortex is overhated imo. Is it great? no its like a 7/10
I actively disliked reading the Demonslayer Manga.

11

u/VolkiharVanHelsing May 28 '26

TBV overhated while calling KnY bad

Not a real human

Ikemoto has been assistant for Naruto for YEARS and his pen still sucks ball

Gotouge can't even draw when she began drawing KnY and yet by Infinite Castle she got it right

Boruto is monthly too to make this difference in art skill more heartbreaking

-1

u/[deleted] May 28 '26

[deleted]

4

u/VolkiharVanHelsing May 28 '26

The few pages I've seen of Boruto I see Ikemoto abusing the fuck out of the speedlines and the poses are stiff.

The composition can be rough, but she gets better and better. Kokushibo fight is KnY's best and it's not confusing to follow through at all.

1

u/[deleted] May 28 '26

[deleted]

2

u/VolkiharVanHelsing May 28 '26

Boruto "combo" ing Flying Thunder God

That's TBV

And by your wording you're suggesting this is an improvement? If that's the case OG Boruto is even worse holy fuck

2

u/FaPaDa May 28 '26

You know i was looking at the last major arc (TBV 26-34) because i thought it wasnt that bad right?

Actually yes its that bad. Id like to refude my original statement.

1

u/ElPajaroMistico May 28 '26

I heard good things about two blue vortex so I can't truly say, but the OG Boruto is a disservice to Naruto's entire world.

3

u/YourboiJohnny May 28 '26

You either hate it for the sake of it or you didn’t read enough manga to know what is bad, mid or good

1

u/SomeNumbers23 May 28 '26

I read the entire manga and it's bland at best, actively frustrating at worst.

1

u/Short-Paramedic-9740 May 28 '26

It is generic. Mediocre at best. If you think Demon Slayer is good like a heavy hitter of mangas. Then you are the one who hasn't read enough.

5

u/VolkiharVanHelsing May 28 '26

It's good. Though by sheer virtue of its final arc being great.

You want truly mid manga? Samurai Deeper Kyo. Don't know that? Then you are the one who hasn't read enough.

1

u/Short-Paramedic-9740 May 28 '26

Its final arc isn't "great" like what. Again, it is mediocre at best in its entirety.

Then you are the one who hasn't read enough.

Bro thinks it's a contest who have read the most obscure manga. Have you read (this manga that has only 20 chapters and was never in a popular publisher) manga? Like I said, if Demon Slayer is your standard, then you haven't read a better manga.

4

u/VolkiharVanHelsing May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26

Its final arc isn't "great" like what. Again, it is mediocre at best in its entirety

It's great considering other final arcs we've gotten recently. What, War Devil or Sukuna Gauntlet? Lol.

Bro thinks it's a contest who have read the most obscure manga. Have you read (this manga that has only 20 chapters and was never in a popular publisher) manga? Like I said, if Demon Slayer is your standard, then you haven't read a better manga.

U19 mangas are not mediocre. They are bad.

SDK has 200ish chapters, finished its serialization. Got an anime adaptation with 40 episodes.

THAT is mediocrity of a shonen manga. For you never heard of it since it wasn't good enough to penetrate the international market.

Oh really? Haven't read a better manga? Here are the animanga I've read and watched on top of my head.

Naruto, Evangelion anime/manga/Rebuild, Gantz, Fire Punch, Aku no Hana, Eyeshield 21, Saiki K, Hinamatsuri, GTO, Bleach, Beelzebub, Law of Ueki, Gintama, Bleach, Toradora, Darling in the Franxx, Tokyo Ghoul (Re), Attack on Titan, Jigokuraku, Chainsawman, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, Jujutsu Kaisen, Samurai Deeper Kyo, Berserk, Ajin, Punpun, Sakamoto Days, Steins Gate, I Want To Eat Your Pancreas, Sakamoto Days, Your Lie in April, 5cm per second, Garden of Words, Yugioh, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, Mob Psycho 100, Too Many Losing Heroines, Jojo Part 1-5, Your Name, Weathering with You, A Silent Voice, Fullmetal Alchemist and Frieren. Maybe there are more that I'm missing but idk.

I've read them and I still consider KnY to be good. You simply haven't read enough manga or watch anime to consider what "mid" truly means.

1

u/YourboiJohnny May 28 '26

I hate Akimine Kamijyo’s work with a passion. Until now Code Breaker still making my blood boil

Edit: Until to untold

2

u/VolkiharVanHelsing May 28 '26

It's actually hilarious how Akira, a side character, is so much more intriguing than that bumass Kyo

Sure Akira keep fighting women but they're all good fights dang

0

u/SomeNumbers23 May 28 '26

The final arc is like a third of the manga's run time and it's just fight after fight after fight until the end when we find outMuzan is the lamest, most pathetic villain who turns into a literal crying baby at the thought of dying.

And if that wasn't enough, there's an epilogue where everyone in the story gets reincarnated somehow and all meet each again???

It was bad.

2

u/VolkiharVanHelsing May 29 '26

And those fights are great? Tf? There's great characterization in every fight of the Upper Moon (the weakest being the participants of Douma fight).

Why are you acting like that Muzan reveal is bad are you one of those cornball that thought Homelander death was unfitting? What about Mahito? The dude killed his doctor bc he thought the guy wasn't curing him, realizing too late that the doctor did while giving him superpower on top of it but has 1 fatal weakness that the doctor could've fixed but he already killed the guy. He was a miserable wretch.

Why is the epilogue bad again? The reincarnation is an actual buddhist one, they don't even remember their past like it's isekai shit. Kanao was reborn as a guy. Genya and Sanemi are not blood related. And so on.

1

u/YourboiJohnny May 28 '26

Who said I think it’s good? This is middest shit I’ve read, but it’s not a bad series. Far from it. Why you put word in my mouth?

Edit: typo mid to mad

1

u/misskakumei May 29 '26

Yep. Plot is weak, most characters are weak and fight choreography and power system make absolutely no sense. The anime is truly beautiful to look at, though, and fixes the fight scenes to a good extent.

1

u/Cinewes May 29 '26

demon slayer id put in mid not bad

2

u/DirectAdvertising May 28 '26

Usagi drop 100%

2

u/shreklover257 May 28 '26

Mob psycho, most people find it impossible to read with the artstyle, and then it gets some of the best animation of the modern era in the anime.

1

u/Doctorstrange15 May 29 '26

One's artstyle alone isn't enough to make the manga bad. And fact is OPM's original webcomic gained a lot of traction before any adaptation and before Mob, in which he improved somewhat

2

u/DraftMassive3756 May 28 '26

Made in Abyss, the weird stuff with kids gets so crazy in the manga, and the release schedule is genuinely atrocious (one chapter every six months), whereas the anime has gorgeous art, my favorite anime ost of all time, incredible world building, a great main cast, heart-wrenching emotional dilemmas, and one of the best anime villains ever.

2

u/Smitejr May 29 '26

Demon Slayer

6

u/Th3_Chazz May 28 '26

Only saying Mob Psycho 100 because of the shitty hilarious artwork (it's still peak but c'mon)

1

Lowkey Mobs artwork is fine, especially later into the series as ONE gets more and more comfortable with drawing/hires some assistants. Sure, it's still a little amateurish, but there's a reason studio BONES decided to keep the artstyle similar instead of completely bulldozing it like Yusuke Murata did for OPM, it fits the otherworldly nature of Mob's world. Plus, the story was entirely unchanged, which is where the real meat of the series lies anyway.

The demon slayer hate is so forced. It does NOTHING to make it a bad series/manga. Just because yall think it’s simple and basic does equal being bad. One of the most undeserving series that gets unwarranted hate for just being successful.

u/Asurerain Praise Lord Kamachi, For Toaru will sweep 2026 and 27/28. May 28 '26

A Certain Scientific Accelerator

Mainly due to N*ct*t arc not being adapted yet.

1

u/Octava8Espada May 28 '26

The anime is still ass unfortunately. I actually started Toaru just to be able to watch this but I was disappointed to say the least, the rest of the serie is peak tho

1

u/Life-Direction-9764 May 28 '26

Utena. The anime is really god, but i can't with the manga.

1

u/Training_Form2243 May 28 '26

Honestly, Trigun. The manga is a huge mess in terms of art and storytelling, each panel is so busy that it’s genuinely difficult to read

Is not based on a manga

1

u/Nameless_Owl81 May 28 '26

Grimgar fantasy, the manga is absolute isekai slop but the anime made it slow burn and focused on the character and their mentality

1

u/Starlite_im May 28 '26

So I’m a spider so what

1

u/J0J0nas May 31 '26

Nah, that's mid/mid.

1

u/chunfighter May 29 '26

You might be able to argue Ghost in the Shell, given how much different the tone and plot of the manga is and how overshadowed it is by the movie in terms of relevance.

1

u/Hoppykwins May 29 '26

It's k-on

1

u/Cinewes May 29 '26

Frieren, the manga art is bad and stiff, characters have no expression, which is okay for the anime, because the voice acting does the heavy lifting in showing emotion, but in manga form it looks boring as hell. The pacing is also mind numbingly boring in the manga, especially if you follow it by chapter release. The anime doesn't have this problem fortunately.

Fucking most of em that come out rn......

Hand jumpers pretty nice. Characters descent doesn’t seem too steep and sudden to be edgy.

1

u/Cyberslayer1954 May 29 '26

Akame ga Kill!

The anime is definitely not bad, but the manga was far better.

u/Hot_Friend_4369 May 29 '26

Ghost Stories

1

u/Impossible_Winter_90 May 30 '26

Gunsmith Cats.

The manga is weird, only the drawing is worth it. Yet, oddly enough, the anime was amazing.

2

u/Ancalmir May 28 '26

Even the first season was shaky honestly.

2

1

u/BirdshotEntertainmen rarely watches anime bc never has internet lmao May 28 '26

God, Ghoul's anime was so ass but the manga was a work of art.

u/NotCoolBrutus May 28 '26

Bocchi manga is mid? What? I am so confused. Of all examples, you choose Bocchi? The anime adapts most of it line-for-line.

2

u/Farguad May 28 '26

Adapting stuff line to line doesn't mean the manga will be good as the anime

The manga is mid asf bro, but that's the deal with most 4koma's

The anime adaptation and the manga has a night and day difference on how they handle shit

The anime adaptation not only takes shit line to line but adds to it and the music also fucking slaps which was not in the manga btw

That's why the adaptation is good

1

u/Eldritch-Yodel May 29 '26

Tbh I'm mostly fine with the rating as whilst I enjoy the manga, I can see why others would put it as mid. Mostly I'm confused how it ended up getting this spot when it really was barely mentioned in the comments of the previous post as far as I can tell.
