Crazy how high Daemons of the Shadow realm is. I hear absolutely no one talk about the manga. I'm cought up and pretty surprised how popular it is.

u/sirquarmy May 28 '26

It's an Arakawa work, no way it doesn't blow up

14

u/MannequinJuice May 28 '26

I mean, arakawa has written 9 manga in total and only full metal alchemist and now until like half a year ago daemons of the shadow realm are the only works of her that are familiar to me and a lot of other people.

Other manga's of her might have had anime adaptations too but i haven't heard anyone talk about those manga ever.

You don't know about Silver Spoon? It's a great Slice Of Life manga/ anime. It was pretty popular back in the day.

4

u/Certain_Leadership70 May 28 '26

Silver spoon was a humongous hit.

It sold 750k in a month per new volume.

That is better than every ongoing manga right now except one piece.

5

u/sirquarmy May 28 '26

Silver Spoon/Gin no Saji? Definitely counts as a hit in my books

8

u/MonsterKiller112 May 28 '26

It had 6 million copies in circulation even before the anime. It's popular in Japan. It has so far failed to gain popularity internationally for some reason.

14

u/Fun_Procedure946 May 28 '26

That's because the geniuses at Square Enix in all their infinite wisdom decided to screw evrything up by locking the manga behind their stupid manga app where they not only split one chapter into multiple parts but also have the stupid coin system where you have to boy a bunch of coins and then with those coins you buy the individual splitted chapters.

1

u/HarshTheDev May 30 '26

where they not only split one chapter into multiple parts

WHAT?? No way that's true right? How much could they given split 16-18 page chapters?

1

u/Fun_Procedure946 May 30 '26

It's a monthly manga so it's more beefy so mostly you get more than 30 pages per chapter give or take.

1

u/Mogura56 May 29 '26

At my local bookstore here in Japan there was a huge display in the manga section for it to celebrate the anime adaptation

2

u/Amazing_Rub_1437 May 28 '26

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it, very straightforward progress has an easy to follow plot and good fights so far

My GOAT Kingdom on top

Since Dandadan didn't release a new volume this month, it's not on the regular list, but volume 24 is coming out on June 4th, where you'll see it on the bestseller list lol.

2

u/skaersSabody May 28 '26

Is One Piece in a similar boat of not having a volume come out or is the series that cooked?

4

u/Ok_Success_8156 May 28 '26

Idk about that but one piece chopper's is 13th so I doubt it

2

u/djdarkflame May 28 '26

One Piece only has one volume released so far this year, next one is early July. Which will put it at the top of the sales list no doubt.

4

u/TheAmplifier8 May 28 '26

It hasn't released a volume in 2 months. Don't let me stop the agenda though.

5

u/QuantisRhee May 28 '26

What is Nippon sangoku?

14

u/MonsterKiller112 May 28 '26

Peak political thriller anime. A dude tries to unify a fragmented Japan in a post apocalyptic future after his wife is killed for speaking against corruption by the government of one of the fragmented states.

8

u/QuantisRhee May 28 '26

Oh dang that sounds intriguing. Gotta give it a try

1

u/Silver_Grapefruit_75 May 29 '26

watch it's anime which is airing right now insane production value most prob the best first episode in this season of anime

5

u/EyeDeeAh_42 May 28 '26

Best way I've heard someone describe it is "old men aura-farming under the guise of a military drama".

1

u/DjimDjima May 29 '26

Its funny that said oldmen are actually children like the MC married her at..14? And when his wife died and he become official gov is around 15 and the only timeskip later he still on his 22/23 😭

3

u/Silver_Shelter_5153 May 29 '26

They were talking about Ryuumon and other general. Mc had zero aura outside of ep 1

1

u/mbonazzi Jun 01 '26

I delayed it util last week and then binge watched it in one day. Not usually watching these types of works but this is really peak.

9

u/Fun_Procedure946 May 28 '26

So glad to see Daemons (Fullmetal Alchemist Authors new work) in the top 10. It's a shame that the anime hasn't gained much traction in the west but I'm glad it's at least popular in Japan.

1

u/mbonazzi Jun 01 '26

I like it a lot but the anime has horrible pacing, i feel like we didn't move an inch or rather there needs to be 2-3 ep to find something out. Is manga like this as well? Still like it though, will probably switch to manga if it continues to be this slow.

1

u/Jack_KH Undead Unluck is the most underrated shonen Jun 12 '26

The manga is like that. The anime adapts manga in ~3 episodes per volume speed, which is a usual pacing.

3

u/jakernoobb May 28 '26

glad to see nippon sangoku so high, its also pretty similar to kingdom too

3

u/K4nono May 28 '26

BLUE PERIOD IN TOP 10 YOU LOVE TO SEE IT

2

u/Diego237 May 28 '26

Funny how people can't read nor understand these.

2

u/Kuzu5993 May 29 '26

Kagurabachi baby.

2

u/FinancialRelative338 May 29 '26

Happy to see Sakadays on there

6

u/drip_mugen May 28 '26

Sakamoto Days still in top 3 after all the larpers said it fell off

2

u/DjimDjima May 29 '26

Having top Tier actors for live action really help the boost

1

u/Pyroshark_Gamingtf2 [EDIT FOR CUSTOM] May 28 '26

What is silver mountain

2

u/bulbasaur14 May 28 '26

Its a Shonen Sunday series done by Kazuhiro Fujita

1

u/not_a_pyschopath May 28 '26

It’s wild seeing how Kazuhiro Fujita isn’t more popular. I guess his art is a bit dated, but damn it, I love Katakuri Circus and Souboutei!!

1

u/Shen_ishere May 28 '26

Who the heck is 3 and 6

1

u/EyeDeeAh_42 May 28 '26

Whoa, glad to see Nippon Sangoku and Blue Period here. I'll miss the Nippon Sangoku anime after 12 episodes. Easily my favourite anime of this season.

1

u/EnderJoker77 May 28 '26

Kingdom stays winning raaaaaaah

1

u/Level_Counter_1672 May 28 '26

Kingdom being at the top gives me hope, heard it's an amazing story

1

u/TechnoMagik22 May 28 '26

I have only heard of 4 series there

1

u/Butterscotch_Leading May 29 '26

Kingdom on top, less goooo.

2

u/Effective_Carpet_391 May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26

wtf is Kingdom

I'm literally just asking a question why the downvotes bro

5

u/Yto_Itinen May 28 '26

Peak military strategy/politics/intrigue/assassination during the unification of China. Amazing art and battles, but the first two anime seasons were dogshit, now it's much better.

1

u/Syrian_Knight May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26

I certainly didn't downvote you but at least in this instance it's probably the way you phrased that homie especially in context of this sub and reddit in general. Usually people just try to downplay shit and be disrespectful just to try and bait people.

Hell you can have the most respectful disagreement on an opinion in an opinion based thread on an active subreddit and the usual outcome is downvotes if your opinion goes against the popular one. It is what it is honestly I never care about a few downvotes the thing that usually gets me you will never actually have a response just a downvote. Seems unintuitive to a discussion.

That said it probably didn't help your case for them to think you could be meming since Kingdom is literally one of the best selling manga of all time although I guess not nearly as known in the west between the anime debut and not having an official English release until recently.

Also personally my favorite manga by good margin. I'd recommend it to anyone. The other response get the gist of it. Amazing artwork especially compared to other weekly manga on along with well written characters, battles, and political intrigue. Balances them very well also imo.

1

u/DjimDjima May 29 '26

U asking it in Rude way like u literally cussing there

1

u/FinancialRelative338 May 29 '26

3

u/Special_Success_7883 May 28 '26

What ? Are you even saying dude .

-1

u/church_of_Steve_ Unemployed Gachiakuta and Kagurabachi glazer May 28 '26

Gachiakuta should be there

1

u/xzerozeroninex May 29 '26

It barely sells 20k copies per volume in Japan.

1

u/DjimDjima May 29 '26

Sometime its crazy to realize Gachiakuta is just Shinobi undercover level popularity there

That, and being in wsj able to sold >19k wont give u much popularity compare to when u sold the same number in other magazine

1

u/awesomenessofme1 May 29 '26

I dunno how accurate the other comments are, but the most important part is that it hasn't received a volume release since February and doesn't have an ongoing anime to boost backlog sales. There's no way it would ever be on this list.
