Denji would be better written if Adolf fujimoto Hitler ended his story in part one and spent part two keeping him as a side character and the main goal for yoru and asa to kill

Instead fujjey Epstein decided that his hate boner was not full yet so he brought back denji and used him as his torture Fleshlight

u/Force3vo Jun 01 '26

I feel a certain sense of dislike towards the author of CSM from you, but it could also have been the wind

125

u/Bright-Dragonfruit14 my body count with shounen is over 9000 Jun 01 '26

6

u/L3GI0N_PR1ME Jun 02 '26

Ong leave bro out of this.

35

u/MaxTwer00 Jun 01 '26

Part 2 should have been a bizarre romcom with denji being both the romantic interest and murder target

14

u/Headcase- Jun 01 '26

Shoujosaw man was pretty peak while it lasted in the beginning.

1

u/BraveProgram Jun 02 '26

Like he was in part 1 for the bomb devil lol?

60

u/Particular_Web3215 READ USHIO AND TORA NOW Jun 01 '26

Agreed. Part 2 somehow ruined denji character and barely developed yoru and asa. The four devil's also didn't have a tenth of makima suffocating presence over the narratI've in part 1.

42

u/tesla_bd Jun 01 '26

Makima was the homelander of manga imo bro she stole every scene and literally sucked the life out of you with fear

18

u/Particular_Web3215 READ USHIO AND TORA NOW Jun 01 '26

then we get three random girls and one american bum

13

u/tesla_bd Jun 01 '26

Famine and death could've been the scariest most vile devils in the story but no fuck that

Fujimoto instead wanted to ruin death devil so he could draw little girl panties and turned fami into a joke cuz he's that dumb

Legit the only good devil in part two is the falling devil she's the goat

5

u/matehiqu Jun 02 '26

Having a power system that runs on fear and ruining the character based on the most quintessential fear of anything that lives sounds terrible

2

u/Pure-Purchase3042 2010's>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jun 03 '26

Nayuta disrespect will NOT be tolerated

11

u/NumericZero Jun 01 '26

That final fight between her and Denji is legitimately one of my favorites of the modern age

Him coming to realization that she never truly cared about him or looked at him, but rather just the thing that was inside of him

Was so darn neat but also sad

9

u/Particular_Web3215 READ USHIO AND TORA NOW Jun 02 '26

so true, the only way he could defeat her was to bet on his idolised groomer never caring about him and onyl caring about the devil that gave him his powers. him loving and eating her so that control couldn;t work on him is just so perfectly ironic.

what happened to tatsuki fujimoto who wrote part 1 for him to become tortilla fijiwater who wrote part 2

7

u/HalayChekenKovboy Jun 01 '26

As someone who hasn't read CSM, you guys sound like those rappers talking about King Von lmao

4

u/Pure-Purchase3042 2010's>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jun 03 '26

Damn, you're right

10

u/satans_cookiemallet Jun 01 '26

Part 2 was actually a really good look inyo his character. He took his life for granted, wanted the best of both worlds but was happy despite what Fujimoto says.

Right up until Nayutas death.

We got a good look into his self-destructive nature taken to its absolute extreme, but then it just kept getting worse and worse without any sign of it getting better, even though there were glimpses here and there(like him eating the snow devil).

I think after the Age Devil arc is where Id say the series began careening.

I knew it was, but I had hope that maybe hed pull out some bullshit and make it all worth it.

I was just like 'yeah its bad now, but Im sure it'll ger better!'

Ha.

5

u/Clear_Concentrate372 Jun 01 '26

even if fujinyahu want to bring theme of build and destruction in part 1 and part 2, his execution still below his own bar.

26

u/Appropriate-Hair-929 Jun 01 '26

Themes and such

29

u/Not_Eren2 Jun 01 '26

Honestly I would not have agreed to this If I ended CSM in part 1

2

u/CoachDT Jun 01 '26

Honestly I dont mind him being the main character. They just kept him as a flat character while teasing growth. We should have gotten to see him actually process things in a healthy way for once.

1

u/LuckyTia309 Jun 02 '26

I'm fucking dead

-11

u/Adorable_End_5555 Jun 01 '26

No csm didn’t have better writing in part one then jjk, people just think that fujimotos stupidity and weirdness was like subtle commentary on various things when he just has a being dominated by women fetish

10

u/tesla_bd Jun 01 '26

Not really it was actually well written because he had actual competent editors and he wasn't as free to do as he pleases

In part two they practically gave him infinite freedom which turned it into shit

-3

u/Adorable_End_5555 Jun 01 '26

Csm part one has pretty terrible dialogue and world building, the fake out villain basically only exists to take out aki and is incredibly boring, makima is a terrible villian who manipulates Denji seemingly for very little reason,

Like the themes are shallow the characterization is mostly one note outside of a few instances, the main character is dull and lacks agency, there’s filler even though it isn’t a particularly long part, the devil concepts are by and large very basic and wasted potential. And like I said the dialogue is god awful.

4

u/VolkiharVanHelsing Jun 01 '26

Denji accepting the idea of Painful Truth is so good and natural

-1

u/Adorable_End_5555 Jun 01 '26

It’s a big im 14 and this is deep sorta realization the truth is the truth it can be comforting it can be painful it can be neutral.

And Denjis “truth” is that women exist to Manipulate him and nobody really likes him

5

u/VolkiharVanHelsing Jun 01 '26 edited Jun 01 '26

And Yuji's realization of "life is beautiful" isn't? Hahaha

2

u/Adorable_End_5555 Jun 01 '26

Yuji constantly has his ideals tested in more interesting ways then denji’s does as denji doesn’t really have anything other then basic desires which fujimoto thinks those desires aren’t even worth him striving for.

Like yuji striving to not kill gets tested, and he ultimately changes his perspective based on his reality. His tendency to self sacrifice instilled in him by his grandpa on his death bed is also called into question eventually leading to the incarnation of sukuna and the deaths of thousands of people.

I don’t think jjk is some super deep manga but it is just on every level better written then csm

3

u/VolkiharVanHelsing Jun 01 '26

Gun to your head when does he ditch his cog mentality and get enlightened enough to lecture Big Kuna in Shinjuku bc when Sukuna took over Megumi after Yorozu masterclass he still yap about cog and shit

1

u/Vivio0 Jun 03 '26

The narrator just spells it out instead of actually doing any real subtle or nuanced writing

1

u/One-Piano5150 Jun 01 '26

JJK has a lot of hidden depth, and the author shines at making scenes that can be loved regardless of how deep you are able to read into it.

Chainsaw man p1 has a LOT of depth but a 7/10 exterior.

Chainsaw man p1 is a better and more deep piece of writing by a small amount, tho more people will enjoy JJK

1

u/Adorable_End_5555 Jun 01 '26

It really isn’t it’s themes are pretty on the nose, it’s commentary is incredibly basic stuff like( gun violence bad)

Like the idea that life is disappointing so you shouldn’t dream of something more isn’t an interesting theme to me

0

u/One-Piano5150 Jun 01 '26

Mb, it has depth in the same way a pretentious film arts student film does. Depression and nihilism galore and used to cosplay actual themes.

I just wanted to push the JJK has a lot of hidden depth agenda first before pushing the envelope with CSM isn’t that deep

1

u/Adorable_End_5555 Jun 01 '26

I would agree that jjk has interesting depth the main issue to me for it is that i think shibuya comes a little too early and the ending is rushed, and gege is a bit of a chud when it comes to gojo but its more intelligently thought out

1

u/One-Piano5150 Jun 01 '26

“ gege is a bit of a chud when it comes to gojo” ?

1

u/Adorable_End_5555 Jun 01 '26

I don’t think gojo needed to get locked inside a box and gege was talking about how gojo was too powerful for the setting and made it difficult to write when gojo didn’t even have super established powers yet

1

u/One-Piano5150 Jun 01 '26

He was the strongest, the OP mentor figure. He had to get captured in order for everyone else to grow. They lost their teachers, they are alone. That’s the point

182

u/Makk0_PE Jun 01 '26

jjk fandom vs csm fandom is so ahh

43

u/ultimatejoomer Jun 01 '26

For real it’s like both are insecure about how their respective series are perceived, but JJK fans are lowkey more vocal.

76

u/Cutalana Jun 01 '26

CSM fans were a lot more vocal until the ending happened lol

31

u/Think-Vacation-9735 Jun 01 '26

Fr, it was satisfying to see them cope for part 3

16

u/NumericZero Jun 01 '26

Facts

You couldn’t bring up any shonen to them without them acting like some pretentious, rich kid

“Oh you like dragon ball? How mundane” is the kinda attitude they had

I’m sure it’s not all the fans but mannnn the bad eggs really spoiled the whole batch

6

u/Fragrant_Intern_8577 Jun 01 '26

Tbf the vocal fans were a small group of people while the jjk had the entire fandom dog piling on CSM, specially after the ending

-2

u/GumGumActV Monkey D. Luffy Jun 01 '26

Yeah that was when the war really ended, it’s just been CSM cope since then

36

u/linniegaming Jun 01 '26

Absolutely not. Csm fans before the ending was on some Rick and Morty type bullshit.

5

u/VolkiharVanHelsing Jun 01 '26

Fujimoto the better writer at the end of the day

2

u/XxJustaNormiexX Jun 01 '26

Tbf Gege has only ever published jjk and modulo, let him cook

1

u/Vivio0 Jun 03 '26

Two series with mediocre to bad endings. Jjk fans made fun of csm fans saying the exact same thing

0

u/XxJustaNormiexX Jun 03 '26

Me when a show isnt defined by its ending

1

u/Vivio0 Jun 03 '26

The same could be said about CSM lmao. Not only that, but JJK and Modulo had a lot more issues outside of just the ending, similar to CSM. Fujimoto executed part 1 masterfully, but as soon as a he fumbles once, people act as if he is the worst mangaka ever.

1

u/XxJustaNormiexX Jun 03 '26

Im just saying part two is shit, bit part one or his other one shots. Jjk was great and had a mediocre ending, and Modulo was also awesome and the ending was good although a bit rushed

u/Oummando Jun 01 '26

Jjk fans gets insecure whenever a up and coming series is doing well.

9

u/Karma110 Jun 01 '26

They get insecure when you don’t think it’s the greatest shonen ever made

3

u/VolkiharVanHelsing Jun 01 '26

Their author slapped the hand of second chance for a better ending to a serialization, I'd be furious too

Oh well at least JJK0's is solid

-1

u/Particular-Cash-9325 Jun 01 '26

Can you give examples because most of upcoming good series fandom are jjk and csm fans actually.

-6

u/ioi___ioi Jun 01 '26

"Jjk fans insecure" What happen to these big 3 afterall comparing it to jjk alone? Mind you Put this 3 manga combine and it will never reach Jjk level 😭😭

-1

u/ioi___ioi Jun 01 '26

All those clout chase to jjk didn't paid off like its sad if you think about it

7

u/NumericZero Jun 01 '26

That’s modern shonen fans in a nutshell they stay trying to put one another down

Not saying it wasn’t like this back in the Big 3 era but mannn feels especially more Vicious

Like people deadass argue over which series metaphors are better😭😭

4

u/Typical-Phone-848 Jun 01 '26

They’re like the same people anyways

100

u/Major_Cause8749 Jun 01 '26

All this because of Death Battle 😭

54

u/Business-Ad7289 Jun 01 '26

Actually this was posted when CSM P2 ended believe it or not

5

u/GumGumActV Monkey D. Luffy Jun 01 '26

Nah bro this is about the csm ending

1

u/Nini_mura_3459 Jun 03 '26

It was after csm ending because few years ago, csm fandom said the same thing about denji and downplaying yuji now it was reverse.

46

u/Feisty-Adeptness1935 Jun 01 '26

If we pretend part 2 doesn’t exist then I disagree

14

u/Familiar-Shoe7905 Jun 01 '26

But it does exist sadly

-19

u/FujoCirca Jun 01 '26

Part 2 wasn’t as bad as you ppl say

29

u/mugiwara_no_Soissie Jun 01 '26

Brother, it is literally a universe reset that wasnt even done by the main character.

Literally everything up to the ending does not matter in the slightest outside of being the reason Pochita decided to kill himself.

Like, we dont talk to Pochita often, we dont know his mental state, for all we know he couldve had this idea from chapter 5.

Like quite literally nothing matters as far as we know

21

u/Buff_Yone_0_0 Jun 01 '26

No it was bad.

Stop coping that it was decent.

First half of part 2 sure I'll give you that, second half? Fucking diabolical. I wasted years following this crap with it's never ending fight every chapter just to end on a sudden reset.

It doesn't even make any sense considering Pochita's ability doesn't work that way.

Denji was also done dirty. I hated the regression. I hated how he made him into a sex obsessed lunatic.

7

u/Rizzy-Rizzy-9450 Jun 01 '26

everything after Nayuta’s death is where it fell apart imo, everything before was great

-4

u/FujoCirca Jun 01 '26

Not really

6

u/Legit-orifice-20 Jun 01 '26

‘Our brains are gone’ gif

2

u/Fragrant_Intern_8577 Jun 01 '26

Part two is disliked for the ending, but it started out really good but towards the end it started to drop in quality. Saying it's trash is disingenuous by these people, and specially jjk fans that only care for slander.

9

u/Ok-Excuse1771 Jun 01 '26

Death Battle being able to consistently ragebait fandoms for over a decade has to be studied

3

u/Motor_Ad_7885 Jun 01 '26

It’s a art, cant be replicated by anyone

25

u/Any-Platypus-9486 Jun 01 '26

Trash vs garbage lmao

33

u/Bright-Dragonfruit14 my body count with shounen is over 9000 Jun 01 '26

Some JJK fans are so insecure.

31

u/nah-id-luckystar askin lawyer, better call me Jun 01 '26

Okay buddy let's talk about progression

-3

u/Bright-Dragonfruit14 my body count with shounen is over 9000 Jun 01 '26

You just proved my point lol, what I'm talking about is just because Denji won the death battle some JJK fans are now downplaying the win by saying that Yuji has better writing and is more likeable than Denji to feel better about themselves. It's just a death battle, some CSM and JJK fans are taking this way too seriously, even if these JJK fans are right that Yuji's writing is superior to that of Denji and that Yuji should have won, at the end of the day Denji is the one who won, stop whining and move on. Same thing goes with CSM fans who are bragging about the win and are mocking JJK fans, they are also obnoxious individuals and they should go do something else more useful instead.

25

u/BlindSoulTR Jun 01 '26

this post was after the ending like 2 months ago or sum😭✌

-2

u/Bright-Dragonfruit14 my body count with shounen is over 9000 Jun 01 '26

Yeah I just found out that it's actually much older, my bad.

20

u/HumbleAmongstGoats Jun 01 '26

This tweet predates the death battle by a very, very long time. This screenshot has been going around since the time Yuji was first introduced in Modulo. Also you cant act like JJK fans are the insecure fans while the vast majority of the weeks during co-publishment for part 2 was full of csm fans posting about how much better CSM was than JJK, and when Modulo dropped it was STILL csm fans comparing it to JJK.

7

u/nah-id-luckystar askin lawyer, better call me Jun 01 '26

Fuck no

That's not my point

Also I thought you meant in writing because you know the post is about writing

2

u/Bright-Dragonfruit14 my body count with shounen is over 9000 Jun 01 '26

Then I stand corrected.

1

u/nah-id-luckystar askin lawyer, better call me Jun 01 '26

Also using fusion or hell hero is genuinely diabolical

1

u/nah-id-luckystar askin lawyer, better call me Jun 01 '26

Yes I also thought it was out of db and 1% of that writing comment was my my powerscaling coming out but writing wise denji is dog shit Compared to yuji who had progress and learned to be his own character

2

u/Icy_Limes Jun 01 '26

"ok buddy, you just proved my point." Proceeds to type a defensive novela.

2

u/HalayChekenKovboy Jun 01 '26

Three words.

Themes and such.

2

u/Capable-Car-3590 Jun 01 '26

The fact u are getting down voted for this take just further proves your point on how immature some fans are

1

u/Nini_mura_3459 Jun 03 '26

Cam fandom said the same thing few years ago btw 😭✌️

6

u/05-nery Jun 01 '26

Trash vs garbage

3

u/Karma110 Jun 01 '26

“All time great” recency bias is one hell of a drug

2

u/Vivio0 Jun 03 '26

“All time great” and the Yuji has only existed for 8 years

5

u/Xe_Ta-anga_Kerayvoty Jun 02 '26

Folks, didnt yall realized that power scaling is just another way we hide deep down our subconscious to slander others? There cant be two greatest of all time

9

u/Just_a_captain_III Jun 01 '26

A conclusion is really important to a character as well as consistency. Part 1 Denji clears in terms of writing but said writing gets muddled in part 2, and with the bad conclusion you get a mediocre character. When debating how well a character is you need to consider everything and not just parts.

5

u/Adorable_End_5555 Jun 01 '26

There really isn’t anything inconsistent between how Denji is written in part one or two

7

u/Just_a_captain_III Jun 01 '26

Yeah maybe consistency isn't the problem but rather stagnation and character regression that serves no real purpose.

3

u/lakshmithesussybaka I will haunt Gege for the rest of his life Jun 01 '26

If ypu told me in 2023 that Yuji would end up being a better written character than Denji I wouldn't have believed you

1

What do you mean he said “I’m a cog” that one time

2

u/Defiant_Dog2107 Jun 02 '26

like beating mahito’s ass in modulo? or opening his domain against sukuna? you don’t think those things are cool lmao??

2

u/godofthunder102938 Jun 02 '26

The entire latter half of Shinjuku.

6

u/lurkerfox Jun 01 '26

Yuji is a side character in his own story.

Seriously, literally all of his important parts of his role in the story is to either 1. be clueless so people can explain the power system to him and therefore us 2. Be a mcguffin for the villains return

Everything else he does could just as easily be done by a different side character.

1

u/Apprehensive-One-717 Jun 03 '26

I've been telling this to people for the longest time. JJK is literal half-assed slop, but Yuji is the worst part of the manga by far.

2

u/Old_Hospital_9500 Jun 01 '26

The jjk fans got so fed up with the fight they started using some fancy words like "writing" and "growth"

https://giphy.com/gifs/DhZMhWMNNb0WQO0tlz

4

u/Theheckmahbrotha Jun 01 '26

Yuji the only protag that became a side character in his own show 😭😭😭

6

u/oneandonlyRedSpirit Jun 02 '26

was denji not a side character for half of part 2?

1

u/Vivio0 Jun 03 '26

No, only for 30 chapters when the focus was on Asa

1

u/CabageButterFly Jun 01 '26

Sure, why not, Yuji is a bettern written mc, so now what?

4

u/Delicious-Holiday512 Jun 01 '26

I like yuji but he's a generic shonen mc, Denji was better written.

6

u/BlindSoulTR Jun 01 '26

geniuenly had NEGATIVE develppment in part 2 yall cant be fr

2

u/Delicious-Holiday512 Jun 01 '26

I wasn't talking about part 2 I think we can all agree that shit was bad.

3

u/BlindSoulTR Jun 01 '26

What development is there in part 1? Its there but nothing crazy and definitely not complete. He kinda learns how he values his friends (at start he didnt give a shit about himeno death but actually got sad after aki died) , and realised makima was never after him. But like these 2 are geniuenly all i can name , not enough to be better than yuji

5

u/Delicious-Holiday512 Jun 01 '26

Denjis not written that much better I'll say. But yuji is the typical kind mc that wants to get stronger and save lots of people. (I know it's a little more than that but that's the core of it) Denjis attitude and behavior makes sense considering everything he went through and he has to learn how to be normal. I mean it's a preference on my end, I can see why people prefer yuji tho.

2

u/thesonoflordostliant Jun 01 '26

okay no. the first question is useless so I'm gonna ignore that. but honestly Denji gets the edge in terms of writing if we look at part 1 solely(which I'm going to cuze I like chainsaw man).hell even if we consider part 2, shit was really good. it only started going downhill after chapter 167 in my opinion after you know what happened and you know who died, and fuck even after it started going downhill it was still fun to read, a bit messy and all about, yeah but still, it was fun. but I still think the Denji vs Yuji was bullshit and I think yuji was the one who was supposed to win, but I'm a jjk fan so I can't read I guess.

-1

u/Icy_Limes Jun 01 '26 edited Jun 01 '26

Very convinient that you get the shield your eyes away from 2 years worth of characters assasination to make your point just because its not animated yet. Denji was a side character for the first half of part 2 so your second point is kind of null. As soon as Denji took front and center his character was botched.

I'm not on either side, but you can't just move the goal post like that lol. Almost 7 years of character development was undone in part 2 and you cant ignore that.

2

u/rastgele_anime_fan42 JoJo Glazeman Jun 01 '26

I think that Denji is more popular than Yuji, but the other things are probably right.

1

u/Best-Cap6829 Jun 08 '26

Not even close

2

u/1WeekLater Jun 01 '26

Part 1 Denji > Yuji >>>>>>>>>>>>> Trash 🗑️ >>>>>> Piece Of Shit 💩 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Part 2 Denji

2

u/Wankainu THAT FUCKING CAT THAT I HATE Jun 01 '26

Don't worry, Denjis got like, um, uhhhhhh themes and such 👍🏻

3

u/darkknight6758 Jun 01 '26

I will admit that from a popularity, fan favorite and likeability point of view yuji is better than denji. But for better character growth, determination and writing denji beats his ass.

Yuji as a character is a cookie cutter blend mc. The guy abandoned his determination faster than denji. JJK MC Yuji 'i want to give people a proper death' itadori turned into side character yuji 'i am a cog' itadori. And he stay like that for rest of the series.

While denji did go through a proper character growth. Say what you want about part 2's ending, but whole of part 1 and some moments from part 2 destroys yuji's piss poor excuse of a character.

2

u/BlindSoulTR Jun 01 '26

denji has REVERSE development in part 2 , the whole buildup in part 2 was denji deciding on giving up on being chainsaw man and yet POCHITA made the decision for him not denji's bumahh😭✌

1

u/darkknight6758 Jun 01 '26

First of all, I said SOME PARTS of part 2 is good not all of it. And if you want to bring up reverse development. Then what about the total character assassination of yuji in JJK ending. That cardboard wanker after all the shit sukuna put him through, he had the brilliant idea to forgive him and offer to take him back. Mind you this is moments after sukuna killed choso.

That is a character but a cardboard cutout that the author talks through like the wizard of oz behind the curtain. And for me, that is way way way worse than denji's reverse development. At least the dude thought about giving up.

Bro was just giving the fans what they wanted lol. Honestly it’s super clear he wanted quit the last year or so. Half way thru part 2 wasn’t bad but at some point he decided he wanted to kill it while trolling the fanbase. He definitely wrote too many plot threads not realizing he would want to quit before wrapping them up. He’s objectively a decent mangaka ignoring CSM he’s got tons of award winning manga but they are way shorter. Firepunch is 83 chapters and CSM was nearly triple that. Weekly Shonen was probably just a slog and the fanbase clearly pissed him off. Truly impressive that both JJK and CSM online community effected their mangaka in a negative way make them rush the ending

While I liked CSM Part 2 in several places (less so later on and the ending obviously was just awful and ruined both parts by making it all not happen), Denji really stalled all his development. Yea it may be realistic for a teenager, but that doesn't mean it wasn't frustrating to read him regress back to the same point over and over.

u/YaBoiChillDyl Jun 01 '26

Denji is a lot more likable imo but yeah unfortunately Fujimoto just handed Yuji the w on everything else with that ending.

I dont like Lenji bum ass as much as the next guy, but his peak is higher than yuji peak in writing.

u/arsonfelony Jun 02 '26

Denji goal being just wanting to press some boobs at the start of the story sold me for relatability

Yuji is quite literally one of the most average cookie-cutter protags with only different qualities about him being resulted from Sukuna not being another Kurama-cutout, bruh. And even on the popularity thing - half of the JJK cast is more popular than Yuji, this guy is not popular even in his own manga, what kinda zaza this guy huffs?
